This is an unusual location; it's really where DC's extended suburbs start to turn into country…read more The surroundings are green, and there is just this little strip mall that has some breweries and a couple of nondescript doors that don't look like they'd lead to food. One of them, at least, does, in the form of this pizzeria. I ordered online and it was ready about when they said it would be. Notably, they close early on Sundays so I just got in there. They have indoor seating, but I ate a bit at one of the numerous tables for other businesses in this stretch and took the rest to go. Their interpretation of a margherita didn't wow me. As the picture will show, it seemed to be like 30% crust. And the NY style pizza is actually an upcharge from the other varieties. Don't get me wrong, the toppings and crust were overall of high quality, but it wasn't a filling pizza for the price at all, and I didn't have anything to do with all that extra crust except try to fold it over. Wished I'd brought some hummus or something. The pizza I really came for, however, was a Detroit style pizza, of which I ordered as a veggie special. The vegetables were ample but didn't overwhelm, and the crust for this pizza was more substantial. The browned edge of cheese that one comes to this style for was present in spades. It's hard to believe it actually costs less than the NY style, because it was much better. Their other options included some drinks, though I suspect many will patronize the next door brewery for beverages and some bread appetizers and only one salad; nothing that really enchanted me. So, a real mixed evaluation from my perspective. The right pizza order can be quite good, I'll say that.

It definitely depends on how busy they are, but considering what a limited space they have and the amount of volume especially on the weekends that they enter I can't complain The dining inside is definitely small, but I appreciate the ambience/almost retro vibe of it. Yes, like other reviewers stated there are a lot of "young kids" working here but honestly for the most part they're wonderful kids who are learning what the working world is like ", and I appreciate this establishment for giving them that opportunity. Patience and kindness goes long way, on both sides of the transaction.

It's also fairly dirty in the inside and last time I went it smelled like straight piss to the point where I was ready to get up and leave before even getting my food. But yeah it's pretty bad just go to any other pizza place in the area and it's pretty much guaranteed to be better than (Spit)ony's. Also I wouldn't trust a lot of the other positive reviews written up for them a lot of them seem to be written by a bot with a generic review like "Wow Best Pizza Ever, Staff was Amazing!" Trust me I've lived in the area all my life no one has ever given this place a glowing review like that in person.

I'm also a big fan of prosciutto and arugula pizzas, and Licorice Pizza's version is my favorite. Somehow all the ingredients are arranged thoughtfully so the whole pizza can be eaten bite by bite, rather than getting large pieces of prosciutto or arugula that slide off. A drizzle of oil makes all the flavors shine. We were taken care of by Cheyenne, who did her best by us despite it clearly being a busy night. I appreciated her checking on the pizzas for us unasked when they took a little longer to arrive. She also had a great sense of humor that delighted our whole table. Despite the record-themed decor, something about the ambiance does seem lacking, although maybe I'm just remembering the way the Black Bear looked when I visited in the past. That's worth overlooking for such delicious pizzas. The daily specials and happy hour deals are worth looking into when planning a visit, too. Last thing I want to mention, I came here with my parents, who tend to get cagey at "hip" places, especially at bar areas that can get a little loud. They were totally on board with everything, and as locals I expect to hear them come back soon for more pizza.

Our pizzas took forever, again despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Food was not worth the price, they skimp on the meat and cover it up by loading it with whatever side toppings came on the pizza. Ambiance was okay. I don't like leaving bad reviews but hopefully someone will see this and the experience will be made better for customers.

There is plenty of indoor and outdoor season, with a full bars with TVs as well. There are two distinct lines, one for whole pies and one for by the slice. They also have a handful of combos which is the way we went. We got the pepperoni special (5/5) which was our favorite. The sausage and pepper (3/5) was solid but nothing special. Overall, the dough/crust was a perfect balance of crunch, chew, and substance. Already itching to go back and try other pizzas!

Seems their day old chicken buffalo pizza is a specialty, so that was a buck more. I should have just stayed with the pepperoni. To be honest, I was expecting better. This day old dried out thin crust was a sad excuse for a pizza slice. it should have been steamed then thrown through their reheat oven cycle. Because it was day old dry. The potential was there... but the execution after sitting out all day... I mourn that pizza. Thrown on a paper plate by a teenager, the service wasn't much more than a grunt for a credit card. And the garage like atmosphere wasn't off putting, but I could smell the used oil in the concrete floors. I'm told the location in Alexandria is a better store. But yeah, not a great first impression.
