I was going to write a poor review of this store, but I have changed my mind. I had a…read moremisunderstanding with the manager. He thought since I had misplaced my ID (which I have found!) I was an unlicensed driver and then jumped to laughably wild conclusions. After some thought I realized that although his assumptions were inappropriate and outlandish (which I attribute to an inadequate understanding of the law and perhaps cultural differences) his intentions were honorable. His reactions were silly but he is not silly. I appreciate his caring for our community. So five stars for this store and a five stars for a great manager and gentleman. I'm happy he's a manager in my hometown. Thank you for looking after some of the people I love most.

They have never once been friendly or even in a decent mood when I have come into the store. Actually, it seems that the fact that they need to stand up from a sitting position and waddle one way or the other to the cash register or other part of the store is of the greatest inconvenience to them. Additionally, the conversations, the complaining about other people, customers, home life, etc... save it for when no one is in the store, ladies. No one wants to hear about how someone didn't do the dishes or just generally, how miserable your life is. Be happy you have a job in a small town when you have limited skills, among other things, that would make you unemployable otherwise. That being said, there are a couple of gentlemen who also work here. They are always friendly and give off the vibes that they appreciate your business. They seem to be here in the evening more often, which is the only reason I didn't give a 1 star. Not that it matters, really. Time may have changed a lot of the area but Mayhughes remains the same. Sells lottery tickets/drinks/chips/ice cream from a freezer and they have a small deli inside. They sell chip beef gravy.
