He has an open mind and open ears all the time. He is ready to go with you on any adventure of sound, style or emotional release. Not only does the Gadgetbox have a cozy vibe, but it is equipped with tons of great gear to use, vintage and boutique amps, pedals, guitars, mics, Rhodes, you name it. Andy is a great part of the music community too. As a solo artist, I was able to have any collection of players needed for each tune. He introduced me to down-to-earth players that I now continue to perform with. A great place to go for quality sounds, recording, people and vibe.

Each experience has been a memorable one. Andy and his team treat every song and every artist with incredible care and passion, pushing a song to become the best record it can be. He stayed true to our sound and made it even better! His assistants were really nice too. The recording studio is located on the second floor within a large building, with a gym downstairs- not an awesome first impression, unless you are hoping to get a work out between takes! But, the location is 2 minutes from ocean bluffs and Natural Bridges, so inspiration is very much accessible. And, the studio itself is nicely decorated with calming colors and state of the art equipment- and that's the most important part. If you are looking for an awesome technician to help you achieve your best, Andy at Tinderbox Studios is definitely the man! My band, the Bluetail Flies, highly recommends him! We can't wait to record another album there soon.

This is more a warning than anything…read more I worked with the co-owner of Pacific Sound Studios for a year on an audiobook project, was pretty green at it. But he stuck with me until its production was completed. Afterwards I moved away and he became very difficult to contact regarding the project in any shape or form. He wouldn't take calls, hardly responded. Eventually I learned he didn't want to publish and has refused to give me any audio for the work put in. My band also worked with him to record and produce an album, this not as a partner but as a paying client. He never sent finished tracks for us. All this to say don't trust the studio, they have scammed me out of my time and money. If he did it with me he'd do it with anyone. They are scammers.

Their storage locker rates and rental equipment are affordable. We have left mics and cables behind on accident a few times, and they were always set aside for us. The location is sketch, as there are a lot of homeless loiterers, but that's the county's fault. Be sure to lock your cars. We only had a couple of people ask us for money over a 5-year period, so it's not that bad. As a woman, I felt safe sitting outside alone. The rooms are sound-proof enough and the bathroom is clean. It's a great little spot to rehearse or jam. Check it out!

Compared with some of the other recording studios I've worked with Justin's work helps me approximate the feel and sound of my primary instrument (violin) in a live setting. Also, he has been welcoming to my other stringed instruments as well (viola, string bass, ukulele). One track we were experimenting and he was able to help me find a maraca and a stand to complete the percussion track, and he has been flexible to allow me to improvise tracks or come in with previously arranged and orchestrated pieces. I have made many fond memories in Bear Creek Recording Studio, working on a variety of material for friends, family, students and personal projects, as well as projects for my professional career as a musician. I look forward to continuing to work with Justin on future projects, too, and would highly recommend him to musicians looking for a recording studio for acoustic and/or traditional music. Appreciate all of his hours spent recording my acoustic violin pieces, multi-layer instrumental work, solo singer-songwriter originals and duos with my partner. What a treasure in Santa Cruz, California!
