He has an open mind and open ears all the time. He is ready to go with you on any adventure of sound, style or emotional release. Not only does the Gadgetbox have a cozy vibe, but it is equipped with tons of great gear to use, vintage and boutique amps, pedals, guitars, mics, Rhodes, you name it. Andy is a great part of the music community too. As a solo artist, I was able to have any collection of players needed for each tune. Compared with some of the other recording studios I've worked with Justin's work helps me approximate the feel and sound of my primary instrument (violin) in a live setting. Also, he has been welcoming to my other stringed instruments as well (viola, string bass, ukulele). One track we were experimenting and he was able to help me find a maraca and a stand to complete the percussion track, and he has been flexible to allow me to improvise tracks or come in with previously arranged and orchestrated pieces. I have made many fond memories in Bear Creek Recording Studio, working on a variety of material for friends, family, students and personal projects, as well as projects for my professional career as a musician. I look forward to continuing to work with Justin on future projects, too, and would highly recommend him to musicians looking for a recording studio for acoustic and/or traditional music. We recently moved from Santa Cruz and are really going to miss Paul at SCRS. We have made some…read moreamazing memories there. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. Their storage locker rates and rental equipment are affordable. We have left mics and cables behind on accident a few times, and they were always set aside for us. The location is sketch, as there are a lot of homeless loiterers, but that's the county's fault. Be sure to lock your cars. We only had a couple of people ask us for money over a 5-year period, so it's not that bad. As a woman, I felt safe sitting outside alone. The rooms are sound-proof enough and the bathroom is clean. It's a great little spot to rehearse or jam. Check it out!
