Posting this on behalf of my aunt because she doesn't use yelp or a computer…read more If you walk into a dentist's office in New York City, and there's no patients there, that's your first red flag. Scheduled a visit for dental pain. CONFIRMED over the phone with the receptionist that they treat root canals and dental pain. Auntie gave the receptionist her insurance info and they confirmed that they accept that insurance. When we got there, the doctor just took a ton of x-rays (to claim the money from the insurance company) and told auntie that they CANNOT do root canals or treat dental pain. They can only do dental cleaning and basic crown fixing. Gave auntie a prescription for antibiotics and that's it. How the f@ck are you operating a dentist's office? Why does this place even have good reviews? I'm going to take a guess that bad reviews are taken down. I posted a review on google reviews that was taken down not 24 hours after I posted it.

They were able to make an appointment for me right away even though I was not a previous patient. Dr. Shin was professional, explained the whole procedure in detail, and fixed my chipped tooth. The repair looks great and the teeth functions as it should. Given my good experience, I came back for a regular check up and cleaning and services were as great as the first time. I really liked the fact that Dr. Shin takes a conservative approach to treatment. I've been to too many dentists that try to upsell you on treatments and trying to convince to you get treatments that are not immediately necessary. During the examination, he noted that I have been grinding my teeth a lot and there was significant wear and tear. I knew this to be true but I've been wearing a mouth guard for years. Dr. Shin advised that since I am wearing a mouth guard and have attempted to address the issue, he will just monitor it over time to see if the problem gets more severe. That's exactly what I want to hear from my doctor and an A+ consultation in my book. Also, to note, they have various ultra-modern imaging and cleaning machines that I haven't seen in other places. They can take 3-D images of your teeth and they had some new polishing machine that used water power to really get at the crevices. It got off months of coffee stains on my teeth. I highly recommend this dental office and Dr. Shin for your dental heath needs.

I was a former long-time patient of a practice that Integrated Aesthetic Dentistry acquired and I…read morecame in to see them for a routine tooth cleaning (the appointment was actually with my previous Dr). In addition to the cleaning, they gave me thorough visual evaluation, and x-rays and although I found the cost to be relatively high, but I recognized that this covered more than just a cleaning, so I proceeded with paying. Subsequently, they recommended a second visit for a deeper cleaning, which was performed not by a dentist, but by their dental hygienist. To my astonishment, the invoice for this visit was twice the amount of my initial visit -- and at quadruple what is a reasonable charge. I would not have gone had I been informed that the fee would be $1,100... for a cleaning. I would not have agreed to this treatment as I only discovered this after the hygienist was finished and I was billed. I never experienced this issue my preivous dentists, in the 15-20+ years that I was their patient. I never needed to inquire about the charges before service was performed as their charges were always reasonable . Deeply concerned about the billing, I attempted to reach out to their office to discuss the matter numerous times. I left messages via phone calls (three times) and text messages (three times) without receiving any response. Effective communication is crucial in any professional relationship, especially in health care. The lack of response to my multiple attempts to discuss my concerns about the exorbitant invoice reflects a lack of courtesy and responsiveness that I find disheartening. It also concerns me that should I require emergency service I would be unable to receive it. As a conscientious consumer, I could not justify continuing with a dental service that not only grossly overcharges its patients but also fails to address their concerns in a timely and respectful manner. I believe that fair pricing and open communication are fundamental aspects of any reputable health care practice.

When I had an emergency and had to come in, he was able to see me a few days later. His pricing for the crown that I needed was pretty outrageous and led me to search elsewhere purely for financial reasons. It would have cost me about $1,000 even with dental insurance at his practice. I did some searching and ended up changing providers to another reputable dentist in Astoria where the price was just $400 after my dental insurance coverage. I called to inform them of the change and they offered to give me my crown for the $400. I'm not sure what's up with that but I felt really turned off by the fact that they were haggling with me for my dental care. I left the practice because this felt a bit suspicious to me despite perhaps good intentions.

Extremely disappointing and misleading billing experience. I would not recommend this practice…read more Before scheduling my appointment, I specifically called the office to confirm that they accepted my MetLife PPO dental insurance. I was told that they did, and I was explicitly assured that if there were any reason my insurance would not cover the services, the office would let me know before I came in. Their website also indicates that they accept MetLife PPO. I also specifically asked about the cost of the services beforehand. During my appointment, the dental hygienist was supposed to inform me about an additional $395 charge but "forgot." I was only informed about this charge when I went to check out. At that point, I was pressured to pay the $395 and was repeatedly assured that my dental insurance would cover 80-100% of the costs. I have now found out that the claim was submitted as out-of-network, despite my having specifically confirmed my insurance status with the office beforehand, and my insurance ultimately covered none of the $395. What is most frustrating is that I made a point of calling ahead specifically to avoid exactly this situation. Had I been told that the provider was out-of-network or that I could potentially be responsible for hundreds of dollars, I would not have proceeded with the treatment. Patients deserve accurate information about both insurance network status and out-of-pocket costs before treatment, not a surprise $395 charge at checkout followed by assurances that insurance will cover it when that turns out not to be the case. I am extremely disappointed with how this was handled and will be telling my friends, family, and anyone I know looking for a dentist not to use this practice. I will be filing a formal complaint with the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker protection as well as the Better Business Bureau over these fraudulent and misleading practices.
