one of my fave hotpot/malatang spot in the gta! prices are reasonable and slightly cheaper compared to other MLTs. selection is pretty wide as well. taste was pretty standard as expected eating hotpot food that doesn't require skills to cook haha. rich broth and soup portions are always generous. a bit loud in here but that's expected. service is fast and good. wish there were more spots!! perfect for affordable eats if you don't mind waiting sometimes

I'm glad my friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant! It's such a comforting find with a huge selection of soup bases (spicy to non spicy) and toppings that can go into your soup. They weigh it all at the end and you pay based on the weight. I chose the spicy pork bone soup base and my friend chose the Szechuan spicy soup base. We really enjoyed having the option to personalize our own bowls. The only thing that we hoped for in future visits would be for the spicy pork bone soup base to be actually spicy and the Szechuan spicy soup base to be spicier. We're not sure if there's an option to increase the spicy level or not but we'll definitely come back and ask about this next time. The service was very quick, we got our orders in less than 5 minutes. The place was cozy, you'd definitely need to come here when it's not peak hours to be able to grab a seat.

Pay by weight noodle soups with a DIY twist. Came here excited to try it out as it's all self serve items you'd like to have in your meal. Upon coming into the restaurant, we had no idea what to do or who to talk to, as the servers were so busy that no one really acknowledged us. We didn't know if it was self serve and then find a table afterwards, or wait for a table first and then get your food. After a while of waiting, someone finally came up to us and gave us a number, which meant we were to wait for a table first before grabbing our food. The place was packed and we waited about 15-20 minutes for a table of 3. Once we got our table, we got up again to grab our ingredients we'd like to have in our soups. They had a huge variety of food to choose from, everything that you'd typically find in a Chinese hot pot place. Once you finish picking all your ingredients, you then bring it to the cash for weighing, and choose your soup base of choice. We 3 soup bases: tomato, original pork bone soup and Sichuan style pickled cabbage golden soup. All the soup bases were incredible, and the spicy wasn't too spicy at all! Once we got our ingredients weighed, we sat back down to wait for our food. It came out pretty quickly and was HUGE! The amount of soup and food we got was a lot and definitely could've been shared between two people (I saw other tables doing this!). Our bowls all ranged around $18-$22 which wasn't bad for the large portions we got. But keep in mind, this is based on what you get in your bowl. Heavier items of course would cost you more money. They also have a sauce bar on the side where you can make your own sauce for dipping. As we were eating, I noticed other people coming in and going straight to get their soup items prior to having a secured table. Still not sure what the process of this restaurant is, and there was a language barrier as the staff spoke mandarin. Regardless, I quite enjoyed my meal and would definitely be back for more!

Love their selection of toppings that you can pick from. All selection is by weight (member and non member price) and then you can pick either stir fry or soup base (a variety of spicy and non spicy options). I found my soup base (the original spicy one and in mild) was quite spicy which I enjoyed but a little too salty for my liking. The dishes came out quick though! Restaurant has a few tables but a lot of people were getting take out.

It comes with 1 hot clay pot rice, 1 soup noodle, and a decent sized snack. A few choices for each of these items. Check the menu out. Honestly can't ask for more and this is why it gets jam packed easily at lunch time. Good news is that people are usually eat-and-go without sticking around for long. So even with the crowd, you might be able to get a seat in 10~15 min during the busiest time. Alternatively, quite a bit of people simply call-in for takeout's and Uber. Awesome price-value, decent comfort food with great taste, jam-packed at lunch time. Not a bad choice.

It was really oily, though the noodles were really nice and chewy. I found the pool of oil quite difficult to get past though. Next we got the classic beef noodles. We went for the flat, soft noodles which were great. As they state though, it gets really soft and mushy after a bit, so I recommend maybe sticking with the regular chewy noodles. The beef was soft and the radish was sweet. The soup base was comforting in a way but also very heavily salty. I couldn't tell if there was just a lot of MSG in there, but I couldn't sip on the soup much. We also ordered the shan xin bao, which is a fried soup dumpling of sorts. The breading was really thick and the soup was quite sweet. Not really the taste we were use to. We also got the pig ear and cucumbers cold dish. This was absolutely swimming in oil as well. They chop up black bean in there for flavour and it just added a really bitter taste. We didn't end up touching most of this, opting to bring it home, rinse it, and re-season it ourselves instead so the food wouldn't be wasted. All in all, the service is nice. I think the baked rice could be worth a try, but there's a lot of great noodle options in the area I personally prefer. As always, give it a try! They have a lot of great reviews on Yelp, so it potentially just doesn't suit my preferences.

If you're not a fan of natural fish flavours, this might not be the spot for you. But for me, I love the fullness of the soup, and how all the flavours provide a hearty and comforting meal. They also have tomato base, spicy or other options if you're not a fan of fish, but my favorite is probably the original fish broth base. It comes with pieces of white fish. You can also switch it up and have it come with other ingredients such as fish tofu, or brisket. Definitely recommend to come try. There is a bit of a wait often when I come on the weekend but service is quick and speedy, in a typical hk-Asian style. The space is also a converted house so the layout is a bit odd and a bit hot in some corners, but manageable. If you cannot do steep steps, ask the servers to have you seated on the main level.
