What a gorgeous independent bookstore! My first visit to Wyrd was today. The displays and layout of the books are engaging, there are comfortable chairs, a coffee and healthy snacks bar, and a cute children's corner. How cute is this boutique little bookstore! Bibliophiles rejoice; it's got a cafe and is so well curated: list, for those that need suggestions; quotes for the Bartlett fond & several sections to sit and explore with nosh and latté. This is such an adorable book shop with a really excellent collection of books! So much for every kind of reader and adorable books, too. The owner is a gem. Was heading for some ice cream at Always when I saw Wyrd's lights on. I had no idea a bookstore was in the works. I was greeted by the owner who was warm, friendly and offered me a cup of tea. This bookstore is just what Edgewater was missing! They sell new and used books. There are ample places to sit and enjoy a book and even an adorable kids reading nook. You can tell this place is a passion project for the owner. She is very kind and I want nothing but success for her. They sell gift baskets filled with books and treats, and candles and some cards. There is even a coffee shop inside with coffees and teas and pastries. I love that they sell new and used allowing people to choose from different price points. There are plans for a book club eventually. Looking forward to supporting this bookstore. read more

I love visiting Wyrd Bookstore. I stopped in to find something for Mother's Day and walked away with a copy of "Gilead" (used) and "Lessons in Chemistry" (new). I was able to get both books wrapped in store as I sat and had friendly conversation with another patron. I've also visited during the week to work while enjoying a cup of tea. It's really a great neighborhood spot, and I'm hoping to check out one of the book clubs soon. read more

This place is the definition of charming. Nailed the decor on every level with cozy dark walls set off by twinkly lights. Nooks for kids, cozy chairs and couches for the big people, delicious coffee and pastries, and of course a wonderful selection of books! Friendly staff/owner... it's a 10 for sure. From the moment we walked in, this place went to the top of my coffee shop list. Everything in there is intentional and well thought out. The staff are always friendly and feel more like visiting family than being in a retail space. Every single one of them cares. The place is immaculate, comfortable and welcoming. The atmosphere of this bookstore is lovely. There is a good selection of books. The reason for the 3 stars is that they charge more than the price listed on the back of the book without pricing structure on the shelves. I was charged $20 for a $17 book. I love supporting local small business and I will come back but sitting up a pricing structure would be awesome! read more
