The elevators have been broken for months, leaving only one in service. It's a safety hazard and a blatant ADA violation waiting to happen. Elderly guests, people with disabilities, and staff are forced to wait for ages or climb stairs while management pretends it's not their problem. Maybe an ADA investigation is the only thing that will finally get them to care. The casino floor? Dead. No payouts, no energy, no life. Machines are tighter than a vault and about as exciting as a morgue. The staff look miserable, clearly beaten down by leadership that gives zero concern for morale or guests. Then there's the food -- if you can call it that. The restaurant and steakhouse are an insult. My steak smelled so foul it was actually nauseating -- like rancid meat and dirty gym socks. It was disgusting, and management usually doesnt even blink. Typically No apology, no replacement, no basic decency. Just indifference. They took the steak off the bill for once but I didnt even eat any of it it was so disgusting. The entire property is dirty, outdated, and depressing. Stained carpets, broken fixtures, and an overwhelming feeling that no one in charge has lifted a finger in months. It's honestly unsafe and unsanitary. Their "1 Star Rewards" program couldn't be more fitting -- because that's exactly the experience you'll get: 1 star service, 1 star cleanliness, 1 star management, and 1 star safety. Goldstrike used to have pride and atmosphere. Now it's just greed, grime, and garbage. This place should be shut down until someone competent takes over.

With my peripheral vision I could see 2-3 holes with water hazards that never failed to make me say, "I'm going to check that place out." Finally, on memorial day 2026 I kept that promise and was I surprised! Brownstone is far from "a small, probably par three practice course". It is an eighteen-hole, challenging course that tests one's skill and allows players to use every club in their arsenal. The fairways and greens are well laid out and impeccably maintained. I arrived about fifteen minutes late for my tee time because of some construction in Memphis as I drove to the course from Tunica, MS. When I called, the woman in the pro shop was very nice and assured me that it would be ok if I was a bit late. As it turned out, the course wasn't crowded with golfers but there was a lot of activity at the facility from a family reunion taking place there. I paid my fee which I thought, pre-round, was reasonable. Post-round I felt that a slightly higher greens fee would have been justified. Wait. Did I just say I should have been charged more? Yes I did, and yes, I meant it. This is an outstanding course, and I have paid more for less many times in many places. I don't get to play very often but I long ago recognized that the staff has a great impact on players' club experience. The staff at Brownstone is A#1. To a person they were friendly, personable, and helpful. They more than made up for all the balls I left in the water hazards.

The rooms were not only beautiful but also spotless, and every room was ready upon arrival. Wendy was absolutely outstanding. Even though our event took place over the weekend, she made herself readily available and was incredibly responsive whenever we needed assistance. Whether we were coordinating meeting logistics, meal timing, or group activities, she responded quickly and ensured everything ran smoothly. As with any group trip, a few unexpected issues came up, but Wendy handled each one promptly and efficiently. Her attentiveness and willingness to jump in at a moment's notice made a huge difference and allowed us to focus on our meeting instead of worrying about logistics. The front desk staff were consistently courteous and responsive to questions and concerns. In fact, any issues that arose were handled so efficiently that our attendees in the conference room never even knew there had been a problem. A few additional shout-outs to your excellent staff: Cliff in archery wasn't just helpful--he treated us like family and even adjusted his hours to accommodate our group. Tim in archery was also wonderful to work with. Lawrence and John in firearms were indispensable and so much fun! Honestly, if I lived in the Memphis area, I would have invited Cliff, Tim, Lawrence, and John over for supper--they were that welcoming and enjoyable to be around. Derrell warmly welcomed people in the shop, and I even saw him personally guiding our attendees to where they needed to go and walking them to our group--truly above and beyond. Tony at the front desk and Shirl, who seemed to fix things before anyone even knew there was a problem, were also outstanding. Both the Lodge and the store were decorated in an unforgettable way. I highly recommend Big Cypress not only as a destination for individuals, but also as a venue for groups. I would bring a group here again in a heartbeat.

The decor is definitely cool, but the Bass Pro itself was underwhelming compared to places like Cabela's or Scheels. The hotel was very expensive, and they also require a $100 deposit on top of your stay. It was clean and had some fun extras like bingo and complimentary snacks. They offer free rides to the top of the pyramid (otherwise $8 per person), but it wasn't worth it--the service was poor and the experience felt underwhelming. Room service was disappointing, featuring low-quality Wahlburgers with an added 18% service charge plus a $4 delivery fee. There's no breakfast included, which feels like a miss at this price point. Another downside was that many staff members smelled like marijuana. The biggest issue was all the extra fees--around $50 for parking/valet. We booked through a third-party site, and at check-in they didn't take our car information, which could have led to it being towed if we hadn't realized and fixed it late that night. They do offer a shuttle to downtown, but the area didn't feel very safe to go out and explore.

As I walked in from the parking lot, I noticed a black SUV with the windows, half rolled down and a child crying from inside the vehicle. There were no adults around or inside the vehicle. As I entered the building, it appeared rundown and not well kept. I mentioned to the front desk about the child in the vehicle out front and she said that security was already notified. As I checked in the two females at the front were rude and seemed as if I was bothering them. They provided me with the card to my room and I proceeded there. I opened the door to my room and immediately smelled the odor of stale smoke and marijuana. Every piece of metal hardware like door, hinges, handles and knobs were very rusty. As I walked across the floor, the soles of my shoes stuck to the floor as I walked. I approached the bed at the foot and very clearly could see large amounts of human and what appeared to be pet hair attached to the white bedspread with the name Harlow's proudly stitched on it. That was enough for me. I left the room and went down and got a refund. I then called Tru by Hilton and the pleasant lady that answered the phone said she would be happy to provide me with a room. I stay in hotels all over the country twice a week and this was by far the worst I have seen as of yet. Stay away from Harlow's

They have two restaurants to choose from; lobby and an after hours rooftop experience for those looking for a little something extra. It too was beautiful. However, I would be amiss if I didn't share my food experience at The Staple Restaurant in the lobby for breakfast a couple of times. I happened to meet the chef "Rico" while I was waiting for my espresso one morning. Such a nice guy with a humble personality. He encouraged me to try his homemade biscuits he made fresh daily. So, on one occasion (after seeing a colleague order this), I tried the Handheld Fried Chicken Biscuit and hash browns with hot honey sauce on the side. The homemade biscuits that this chef makes will make you swoon as your eyes roll back in your head--just the right texture, light, buttery, and hot; what a combination. The problem (depending on who you ask) is that it's hard to eat just one. I watched, with humor, one morning as a baby (around one year old) held one of the chef's biscuits in his tiny hands and tried to stuff the whole thing (as they do) into his mouth. He eventually realized that it was not going to work. So, he broke off small sections and devoured that biscuit; it was so funny to watch. On another occasion, the chef happened to see me and encouraged me to try the biscuit and gravy. Wow, the sauce he makes to go on top is downright "good eating". Another thing I appreciate is that the restaurant knows how to properly cook bacon as opposed to serving it half-cooked; yuck and yikes. It's always crisp and tasteful to the palate. Lastly, the handheld chicken biscuit is not for the faint of heart. The chicken is cooked to perfection along with the biscuit, hash browns, and hot honey sauce on the side. Make your way there if you have not been. You will message me and thank me for the great food, atmosphere, and southern hospitality of the staff along with an amazing hotel stay.

The cleanliness problems with my room and what many other reviewers describe are staged and intentional by the cleaning crew. 9 out of 10 large bath towels had hair (curly hair that could be pubic hair, and long hair strains like from a comb or brush). I kept asking for towels and they would look clean, even new until we inspected them. Top of toliet seat was not clean when first checked into the room, and it was intentionally dirty in a way to not be missed. I always take clorox wipes with me and always clean all touchable stuff in the room; toliet included. Coffee maker had a long fine hair placed where you couldn't miss it..right where you would put a coffee pod, but I never use hotel coffee makers anyway. I clearly complained about the towels to no success. Had to dry off with hand towels as they were clean, no hairs. Left a tip anyway after the first night hoping to get better service the next day..Nope! Returned to the room that night and the lazy Maid took the cash and didn't even clean the room. I called about that and asked for clean towels....got hairy towels again. Had to use hand towels again. So next day, left no tip. When I got back later that night, entire room was stripped. Called the front desk and she didn't know what was going on. Moved me to another room which seemed fine except one of the beds had black pellets that looked like critter poop under one of the pillow...strategically placed. The other bed was clean. So I slept in that one. Didn't even complain at this point as I was checking out the next day. The cleaning crew clearly hates the GM because all of this makes him look bad as it looks like poor management but it's really sabotage at its best!!!
