The Squeeze Box had their grand opening on October 1, 2011. It is a new B&B/guest flat in the Downtown Historic Blues District of Clarksdale, Mississippi. The flat was designed, decorated and built by two local Delta artisians John Magnusson and Randall Andrews of Delta Debris. The flat is quite large with an entertainment area, music nook, well equipped kitchen, master suite and super cool bathroom. The Squeeze Box is located in the former Clarksdale Telegraph Building (circa 1897), which is directly across the street from Madidi (Morgan Freeman's 5 Star restaurant), the Hambone Art Gallery, and the Rock & Blues Museum. Around the corner you will find additional dining choices including Rust, Stone Pony, Oxbow Restaurant, and Lady at the Levee. There are also 4 additional art galleries on this block alone. The flat features artwork from numerous local and Delta artists. The place is very well equipped with a stereo system, DirecTV, king size bed, original hardwood floors, 400-600 count 100% cotton sheets, nice towels, and comfy pillows. Live music is within a 3-5 minute walk from the front door, including Ground Zero Blues Club, Red's, New Roxy. Hambone Gallery, The Den, Bluesberry Cafe, Club 2000, Peter's, Messenger's, and CatHead. The location and amenities of The Squeeze Box makes it the place to stay when visiting Clarksdale.
I must caution though that the main festivals (Juke Joint Festival, Sunflower Blues Festival, King Biscuit Blues Festival, Clarksdale Film Festival, Tennessee Williams Literary Festival, and the Hambone Festival) all book up the place early. According to the calender The Squeeze Box is already booked for Juke Joint in 2012 and 2013.
We stayed here in late October and have already booked a return visit in the spring. read more
