Holiday Inn Express & Suites Greenville - Nasty water

Well well well. We have to find a hotel in the Greenville Mississippi area and this one had a 8.1…read morerating amongst the others on hotel/motel row. Due to the kobuk 19 pandemic we had to really prepare ourselves to sleep in the room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating which was really a plus 4 us. But to our surprise as we embarked on to the room just like a lot of of the Yelpers here has stated the water was Brown throughout from the tub and the toilet to the sink. But if you're looking for a place to lay your head this is a great hotel to do it. But due to what is happening with the cwater which has been in effect for over 3 years just be prepared.

had one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered at a hotel…read more I contacted the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Greenville, MS to reserve 14 rooms for my family, the majority of whom are veterans. I first spoke with General Manager Mary Williams, who told me the rooms were available, confirmed that we could receive the government rate, and explained that each room would be reserved independently because of the veterans' status. She then transferred me to the front desk to complete the reservations. I spoke with Janiya Johnson for approximately 34 minutes while she processed the reservations. During that call, she contradicted the General Manager and stated the rooms would instead be reserved as a group. Despite the inconsistency, she assured me that all 14 rooms had been successfully reserved and told me she sent the confirmations. Based on that information, I informed my family that the rooms were secured. Nearly two hours later, Janiya Johnson called me back and stated that while she was reserving my rooms, another manager was simultaneously booking rooms for a different group, and the hotel was now sold out. I reminded her that she had already confirmed all 14 rooms were reserved and had sent confirmations. When I reviewed the confirmations, they reflected only four rooms -- not the 14 rooms she explicitly stated had been booked. When I questioned the discrepancy and requested to speak with a manager, the call was disconnected. A few minutes later, Mary Williams called and claimed there had been a "misunderstanding." She stated that if I had confirmations for all the rooms, the hotel would honor them, but that the hotel was sold out. This directly contradicted the information she originally provided when she told me the rooms were available and transferred me to complete the reservations. The entire experience reflected poor communication, lack of coordination between staff, contradictory information from management and front desk personnel, and extremely unprofessional customer service. Most disappointing was that this confusion affected a large family group that included veterans who were traveling based on assurances from hotel staff that accommodations had been secured. I understand mistakes happen. What is unacceptable is giving customers conflicting information, confirming reservations that apparently do not exist, and then failing to take accountability when the error is discovered.

Cotton House,Cleveland, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel - Didn't leave a tip because the maid took the tip the day before and did not clean the room, or refresh towels, or soap. So they did this...

Think southern charm meets modern art:…read more This cozy quaint hidden gem in the small city of Cleveland Mississippi was the oasis I needed after a terrible stay at a Sheraton in Memphis and also the reason I was in Mississippi at all. My fathers passing brought me to Mississippi. My cousin and I drove because he does not like to fly. Needless to say we were both tired from the road trip. We decided to call it and stay in Memphis Sheraton for a night. (See my review of this hotel.) The next more after a horrible stay and also with the death of my father on my mind you can o my imagine the state of mind I was in and how the slightest thing can set a person off. When we arrived at this sanctuary I was supremely impressed with this hotel given its location. I'm not try to crap on Cleveland Mississippi but hey it's Cleveland Mississippi. This hotel easily could be in Chicago, Newt York, LA or Florida and meet all your big city needs. We walked and was greeted warmly with nice southern smiles and classic southern vernacular and pleasant southern twang by the receptionist. There is a feeling of pleasantry and floral, wood olfactory stimulation. In the counter there were people playing chess, talking and sipping on cocktails with a back drip of a saloon style bar from a time long ago. It's almost too good for where it is....‍. Again not crapping on the crooked letters or Cleveland but honestly... The room was excellent. It just felt good to be able to come back to this place given the state of mind I was in. I was always able to refresh myself for the several days I stayed here. If you're ever in Cleveland Mississippi for a funeral this is your Bethel.

Would not recommend until the General Manager gets control of the mutiny tactics by the cleaning…read morestaff. The cleanliness problems with my room and what many other reviewers describe are staged and intentional by the cleaning crew. 9 out of 10 large bath towels had hair (curly hair that could be pubic hair, and long hair strains like from a comb or brush). I kept asking for towels and they would look clean, even new until we inspected them. Top of toliet seat was not clean when first checked into the room, and it was intentionally dirty in a way to not be missed. I always take clorox wipes with me and always clean all touchable stuff in the room; toliet included. Coffee maker had a long fine hair placed where you couldn't miss it..right where you would put a coffee pod, but I never use hotel coffee makers anyway. I clearly complained about the towels to no success. Had to dry off with hand towels as they were clean, no hairs. Left a tip anyway after the first night hoping to get better service the next day..Nope! Returned to the room that night and the lazy Maid took the cash and didn't even clean the room. I called about that and asked for clean towels....got hairy towels again. Had to use hand towels again. So next day, left no tip. When I got back later that night, entire room was stripped. Called the front desk and she didn't know what was going on. Moved me to another room which seemed fine except one of the beds had black pellets that looked like critter poop under one of the pillow...strategically placed. The other bed was clean. So I slept in that one. Didn't even complain at this point as I was checking out the next day. The cleaning crew clearly hates the GM because all of this makes him look bad as it looks like poor management but it's really sabotage at its best!!!
