The innkeeper showed us to our room, the master suite, and after we brought our luggage inside, we had a tea party on the veranda, which our kids really loved. Eva, the innkeeper, and Madison, her helper, had great conversation with us as our kids played hide-n-seek before going to the front pond/lake to skip stones off of the bridge. Our room was so spacious, and the bathroom was huge as well. It has a full jacuzzi/hot tub for a bathroom and the walk-in shower has two shower heads and a hand-held shower as well. The bed was incredibly comfortable. In the morning, breakfast was served and both mornings the food was delicious. Eva also gave us some great local places to eat as well. All-in-all, our stay was amazing and exceeded our expectations. The manager who lives on site was gracious, hospitable, friendly, and knowledgeable about the history of the home, its contents, and its former occupants. The off-site owners of Baer House have collected period furnishings that are used throughout the house, and the library in the living room offers several titles for Civil War history buffs. Off-street parking is available behind the house. The space which serves as the dining room and living room today was actually designed and built to be a ballroom. If your guest room is on the second floor, you (and your luggage) will be climbing a long, steep stairway. I am 75 years old, and I would not have been able to get my luggage upstairs without assistance from my husband.
