Awesome spot that's been a Rockford classic for years. If you have kids, they'll love it here…read more(heck, even if you're a big kid, you'll like it here!). There's so much to do from a huge 3 story playground, ice rink, concessions, birthday party rooms, and tae Kwon do. The ice rink is also just fun for dates, too. Pro tip: for the 2019/2020 winter season, they have a special going on every Saturday and Sunday where you get a couple hours of skating, skate rental, and a meal for $10 per person. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The actual building is not the newest but they do well with it. I'd definitely suggest the hand sanitizer after your kids play in the playground (but what else is new). We love it here and are thankful we have a park district that does such a good job managing places like this.

It's not a bad barn... huge lobby. Play World inside…read more The ice itself is wet and soft. The kids had a hard time finding their edges during the game. There was an announcer for the game, but inconsistent music. There's a lot of seating inside and no seat is a bad one. I believe there are no heaters, or they are not functioning, because the stands were cold. There is a concession stand that isn't consistently open, but when it is, the prices are moderate to expensive. Just a shade higher than normal. Better to bring your own snacks. Another complaint is the officiating is severely questionable for visitors. After watching several games, it's notable that the home team has not been called for blatant offsides as well as not taking many penalties. In all the games I have seen here, the home team has tagged a majority of their goals off the power play. I know that referees are human, so I can't blame them for mistakes, however it is a huge coincidence that whether it is "our" team or another team, the statistics are similar against the home team. I can't take away from the home team, as they are good players with good coaches. I don't live in the area, so it is doubtful that I would come here unless there was a game or tourney. I will say that this is your average space, nothing that stands out, but worth a check if you're looking to get on the ice.

It's not a humongous one, but there's plenty of ground to cover and nature to see. Klehm Arboretum has a respectable collection of flowers, plants, and trees. A lot of family activities. There's often some kind of special event going on for children and family things. A lot of the gardens are specific toward one plant species or a family. It of course has better viewing in the spring and summer, but any time of the year has something to check out. The visitor's center is the first place most people come to. Get a map. You can find out where all the gardens are and which paths to go on. It has a pretty cool pond garden in front you should stop at. There's a Prehistoric Garden featuring a T-Rex. Also children will enjoy the Fountain Garden. This is a way to cool off in summer. Even though the programs say there's an admission charge, you can still usually get in free. It's not like there's anyone at the gate. This is best in the summer, but there's also later year activities like hay mazes and whatever.

The most important thing about it is that it isn't a race but more of a spiritual journey (to me at least). I was able to tap into my inner being and push into the unknown. There were so many motivating people there especially the person who hypes you up before starting the run. The obstacles were amazing and definitely hard. The run itself was challenging but worth all the sweat I produced LOL. Parking was super easy and not congested (luckily). Finding the place was a bit confusing as the address provided takes you to the other side of the airport so you will want to make sure you check the signs and get there a bit earlier for your race (maybe get there an hour early to ensure no hiccups in finding the place. You will get very very dirty hence the name of the event. You will be challenged and pushed to the edge but it is worth it. The other mudders are there to help fallen folks and folks that require help getting over obstacles - I felt like there was a huge sense of community throughout the whole thing. All in all, I had an amazing time and the end of the race was the electric obstacle. I got shocked right in my butt and it took me down so be careful in making your decision LOL. Enjoy the ride and go for it :)

After failing…read moreseveral times I'm happy to report, with the help of the talented and patient staff, I got up and rode for my first time! Came here with my family and we had an absolute blast. Very cool park set up with a cable system. It's tough to initially get the feel of taking off from a dead stop on the dock, but I do like the fact you're level with the water. Once you get a feel for it, the turns are also difficult (for a newbie) but not impossible. For the advanced riders, they have tons of features to ride on (or jump off of). As mentioned, the staff are friendly and helpful. They are all VERY good wakeboarders so they know their stuff. You can bring your own gear or rent from them. They have slow speed sessions or normal sessions, so if you're a beginner, go for the slow. A few small criticisms I had that would be easy to fix: -We came for a slow speed session and I was bummed they bumped up the speed halfway through the session right when I started getting the hang of it and I started falling again. I wish they wouldn't advertise a speed and then change it midway. They did bump it back down at the end of the session, which was good. -I think they need a little more padding on the shore by the first turn. If you fall there, to get onto the shore, you need to walk over rocks and they're painful on bare feet. -Our two younger nephews got a small burn on their shoulder from the life jacket rubbing against them? the adults were fine so not sure what that was about. All in all, a very positive experience for us and Rockford is very lucky to have a place like this! Can't wait to come back!

This family owned & operated business does wonders with the community and is beyond passionate about the wakeboard industry. We travel from CA every season because we LOVE this place so much. I wish it was closer to the west coast, but the location is what makes this place beyond special. If you're looking into trying wakeboarding for the first time, West Rock is BY FAR the most affordable and provides the best experience for any ability level. Ask about their never ever (first timer) classes if you've never ridden before. A private coach will go above and beyond to get you riding and loving the sport as much as we do! Thanks for always delivering a 6 star experience for every day we ride your park!

She's competed and made new friends through their open plays and events. Whenever I visit, we spend about 60% of our time here. Everyone I've met has been pleasant, and it's like being surrounded by family and friends. Usually, when we play for hours, we go up to the restaurant area and grab some wings and some brew. We've even jumped on the mic during Karaoke night, which happens on Fridays. The only thing I wish they could change is the time the restaurant closes - they typically have open plays at night that end at 10pm, which is the same time the restaurant closes and that's when a lot of us have been craving those wings! Regardless, this is definitely one of my favorite things to do in Rockford.
