Jason Chuan is the BEST accountant ever!! He's almost too good to be true...I was contemplating whether or not to write this review because I wasn't sure if I wanted to share him, selfishly wanting him all to myself, but I finally decided to give him the credit he deserves. I think the part I like about him the most is that he makes me feel like I'm his only client- every time I had a question or concern along the way, he was prompt in his responses and I actually understood him. In addition he always made time for me whether it was a phone call, emails or being available to meet in person, I was always able to communicate with him, even with a crazy schedule like mine. I'm new to the business world and I thought I could handle the bookkeeping as long as I bought quickbooks and studied a little...well that didn't happen and Jason was open to taking all my scrambled records and somehow fixing everything! I needed help with my business taxes, being that It was my first time filing with my new company, I had filed an extension with the IRS with a deadline around the corner! I needed help fast! Before I could do my taxes, I needed my business financial records, of which I only had bank records and statements. John wood sat down with me for close to an hour and explained everything even helping me change my business from an LLC to a S-Corp, explaining the benefits. He was so friendly and never made me feel like I was clueless, even though I really was. He referred me to his accountant, for help with quickbooks, and after my failed attempt to to do it myself, I caved in and reached out for help- that's when I met Jason. Fast forward to the present, Jason recently completed my business record keeping, producing the needed profit and losses and forwarded that to John, who then completed my business taxes. I had been so consumed with my business taxes and meeting the deadline, that I forgot all about my personal taxes. Immediately, Jason came to my rescue and finished everything in record-setting time! I was lucky enough to find a new tax person this year. One who doesn't charge a fortune, readily available for questions and who is willing to meet with you in person. WWSA raised its price year after year and our taxes never changed. Our taxes are very simple. They take about 30 minutes and we were charged a fortune. When I asked Don Woods why the price kept going up year after year he was very rude and said, "They've only gone up $60 and that's the way it is" and sent me away. I did our taxes for years and we wanted to see if a CPA would be able to do a better job and perhaps find deductions or things that I wasn't aware of. I always used HRblock.com software- cheap and pretty straightforward. We met with John, he was very nice and professional but he didn't ask as many questions as I thought he would: I had to tell him that I was an educator and get the $250 deduction, we had to contact him and ask if he needed to know anything about our ROTH IRA, etc. He just didn't seem to ask questions to find out our deductions. I wondered: what if we didnt know anything about taxes (like many people), then what would have happened?! Seems like we did some of the work for him. But oh well- we waited. About 1 1/2 weeks went by and we had to call the office to ask if the taxes were ready since nobody called us. Then lo and behold, he got the same exact tax conclusion/liability as I had gotten from going on hrblock.com and doing our taxes in 10 minutes. $250 for that?! It took me 10 minutes to do our taxes and I came up with the same thing he did! And it took them over a week to get back to us. Oh well- live and learn. So they said they would mail the taxes to us and we could sign and send them back. 2 weeks went by and we didn't receive them. We called, the receptionist guy apologized and said they would go in the mail right away. 5 days went by and we called again. And she said she would send them again. Wtf?! So we finally got them (10 days before taxes are due). We're gonna stick with doing our own taxes. This is probably a great service for people who know nothing about taxes and don't know how to do them themselves. But for us, who are semi-knowledgeable about our tax situation, it was a waste of money. But live and learn. read more
