After this past summer, I looked at pictures of myself and decided I don't want to have a chin goatee because I have a double-chin, and and I don't want to be the t-shirt-in-the-pool guy. After my mom had success with WW, I decided I would give it a shot.
I decided I would go all out, and attend the meetings. They have an option to only use the online tools, but I had tried that before and 'conveniently kept forgetting to track my progress' while the weight went up and eventually just burned 20 bucks a month. So this time, hardcore, meetings. The meetings I attend have about 30 people, are all women of all ages save myself, my buddy, and one other guy. I don't let that be a deterring factor because I believe this is important. The leader is a guy named Steve who is passionate about WW, funny, warm personality and truly cares about seeing his groups succeed. He's the reason I choose to come back the second week.
For those unfamiliar to WW, it calculates the Fat, Carbs, Protein and Fiber of a food to determine a PointsPlus value. You are allotted so many PointsPlus a day depending on your weight and height, then try not to go over those points in a given day. No food is off limits. They even give you 49 'extra' points to play with during the week that they encourage you to use. If/when you exercise, it gives you Activity Points that give you points back.
The first week, I lost 7lbs. Six months later, I have lost 25lbs. Ok, so I gained 10 back over the holidays, but I'm in the process of getting it off again. The good news is, if you follow the plan, it works, if you don't, it doesn't. I've never seen something so cut and dry. Try it if you have done everything else but have failed. read more
