I move here to St. Petersburg in 2024 and started checking out local news channels. I been watching good morning Tampa bay ever cense. Its my go to for morning weather and local news. I do watch other news stations just to see what going on. My wife watches Fox news network mostly all day long. Now when it comes to news stations in today environment you need to be careful in what you select I don't go for programs who are not really news but think they are. Been watching for 22 years. Back then it was a 5 star show which was hands down the absolute best of the Bay. Lately it has devolved to the lower ranks. Mainly due to their camera queen Jen Epstein. She pops up every where. I can't even watch Charlies World until after 7;00 because Ms Drama is on screwing it up to. I usually love watching this news station however I reached out to them twice and no one helped me not even sent a reply. Every news stating say their for the people but none are actually for the people none really help the community. I mean it saddens me each time I watch tv we help foreigners but we have a community of people here who voices are not being heard but over looked. I was here this morning for a news segment about St. Patrick's Day crafts. I love the security measures they take to protect their staff and visitors. You can't enter the gates or building unless you are buzzed in by security. As a visitor, you wait in the green room until a producer or staff member escorts you inside the studio. Everyone is so friendly. I was on air with Laura Moody and she was a delight. All the anchors do a wonderful job reporting the news. read more

This station has an agenda that is so obvious and sickening ! They don't cover some really important news because it doesn't fit with the agenda they covet. The term news channel does not and should not be used for this group of idiots. And this Moniker is also good for the weather team, my grandson has several health issues that the pollen forecast is important to be aware of. They use a very simple method reporting it but it's not very useful for most viewers who are concerned about health issues and not if their bees will be busy. For the effects on your health the pollen count should have weather factors like humidity, wind speed, etc but this requires some real work. I called the weather team and the person I spoke to he well you have a point and that's why I (singular) don't report a pollen count. You must have seen it on someone else's report. I said no I know it was Fox 13 and he stopped me and said like I said you saw it on one of the other weather persons spots at this station ! Are you serious you guys don't have each other's backs ! Fox 13 is a Fox O&O (owned and operated) station. You would think they would mirror the editorial opinions of their owner, but instead their news writers are a bunch of leftist hacks who write their stories with a heavy liberal bias. I like the fact that as a Fox affiliate they have an expanded news schedule but it's a shame that they don't follow the editorial path of their owners and instead try to mimic CNN or MSNBC. It also seems like being in a market as large as Tampa they could do better than some of the second rate talent they put on the air, both at the anchor desk and in the field. Some ADs on FOX 13 TV station are very bad. One of them is "MISTER SPARKY' that generates a sudden alarm sound. It is confused with other home alarm devices, and causes viewers panic. I've been working with the people over at Dirty Girl 5k Mud Run since last year. I blogged as a Dirty Girl Ambassador, completed the muddy 5k in February, was interviewed for an article in the St. Pete Times, wrote an article for the Dirty Girl 5k mud run blog and now, this ambassadorship has given me an opportunity to talk all about my efforts with Team Judy on the local news! I arrived about 30 minutes before I was to go on air, checked in and sat in the green room for a while until the producers came to take me to the studio. They gave me a rundown of what questions they'd be asking during the interview, so as I waited, I looked it over and prepped. When it was time, the producer walked me into the main studio and into the area where I'd be doing the interview in. I was amazed at how quiet it was throughout the studio. While I waited for my segment to start, the producer let me snoop around. I even got to watch the anchors deliver the news! In general we may not agree with and like subjects covered in the news These days, the news cycles more often than before and practically on demand. At the end of the day, it's news coverage and no particular dislike should be given to individuals in the news. Afterall, they also have a job and reporting the news and covering what's given to them on screen. I grew up watching them in the early to mid 2000s. At 6:00 AM, I'd have a bowl of grits and orange juice and enjoy Charley Belcher around town. I remember who is no longer there and retired, especially John Wilson and a few others. Still to this day some familiar faces are around that I remember. There are segments that I enjoy and just relaxing to just watch for a bit even though I wonder where the news is but, sometimes it's also good to break from it. I particularly prefer watching in the mornings and dinner; with Kelly Ring's ''What's Right with Tampa Bay'' is always a nice way to close out the news and evening. I have to say that I do miss seeing Chip Brewster and enjoying the different eateries everywhere. The weather is top notch and I like seeing the low numbers underneath the days instead of being crooked. I prefer the old text and colors of the banners, not the new. While waiting on my car to be worked on, Fox 13 was on the tv. I'm not sure that I have ever experienced a more painful morning news show before. The only person who seemed professional was the female anchor. The male co-anchor likes to put his hands on his face, pause too much for poor dramatic affect and says "um" and "hey" a lot. The guy he was speaking to on a national level was even surprised by his lack of professionalism. That did make me smile! Anyway, wow, just wow! With as much bad publicity FOX News receives, one would think they would watch their "Ps and Qs", but apparently not so. On this evening's 5PM broadcast, there was a report of a new "internet challenge" where young people are placing detergent pods in their mouth, chewing them, cooking them, and a host of other absurd things. A doctor was in the report, stating these acts are very dangerous, and even could be deadly. In no way was the report meant to be funny. immediately following the report, a MR . SCOTT SMITH, who reports the sports, made the most asinine statement "Kids, don't eat detergent, but fabric softener on the rocks, is delicious"...If intending to be funny, he missed the mark. I called the station and told them how bad this was, and made reference to a newscaster of years ago, who was fired during a commercial break, after making a similar statement. Perhaps Mr. Smith should seek alternate employment. As for me, FOX 13 news, will no longer be played on my television set. read more
