Total Wood Floor Replacement: We were very apprehensive on…read morehow this would turn out being that the entire floor needed to be removed while preserving the sub-floor, cabinets, plumbing connections, wood trim throughout, and the need to pull out all appliances. "Western Floors" surpassed all our expectations! We would like to commend the hard work and enthusiasm shown by their entire crew. Florin Condorachi, the hands on owner, kept us updated daily, sometimes multiple times, regarding the time frame of each aspect of the job, and what would be achieved on each work day. Florin also facilitated getting wood molding made to color-match the original cabinets. The crew arrived on time daily even when it snowed! They were cordial, receptive to questions and worked as a team. Each day they cleaned up after themselves and always let us know what was performed that day and what they would be doing the next work day. We have the highest regard for "Western Floors and Florin Condorachi". Truly a professional company that respects its clients. They receive my highest endorsement.

We scheduled a visit to measure and quote the room. It was an odd shape, so he gave some different options that would cover 90% vs the whole room. Installation day the crew called to inform they were on the way. From start to end it was done in about 4 hours. Everything looked really sharp which is impressive given all the weird corners a New England concrete basement can have.

Austin came over soon after we made our request, gave us a fair quote, and began the first part of the repair soon after. The project was in two parts because part of the damage was under solar panels. So we paid for what he did, and stayed in touch as the installers weren't able to get to us for weeks. Final roofing work happened yesterday, and he also replaced two shingles that had fallen since he'd left (not his fault). Easy to communicate with, generally responded same day or next day. I'm not sure what's going on at Eco Bargains, but the store I started visiting 3 years ago has…read morereally changed and not for the better. It used to be when you came in they would display cool vintage appliances, stoves and even refrigerators sometimes. None of that today, just some new fiberglass tubs. I came here to find an old three-panel door. I was told by the greeter to go to the very back of the store. I walked past several full kitchen cabinet sets to enter what appeared to be a large unmarked extension of the store, albeit messier. There, I found four doors that were exactly what I was looking for. A less-than-polite young man approached me saying I couldn't be back here. They didn't mark the backroom entrance! Ok, put a sign out there buddy. I was later told the floor sign they displayed showing "Employees only" was removed so they could move some things around. Still that's no reason to be rude to customers! I proceeded to the door section. After looking for a while, I couldn't find what I needed. An older woman dressed in black volunteered to help. So I asked her specifically, did she have anymore of these 3-panel doors in the back room. To which, she said "If it's not out here we don't have it. We don't keep things in the back room." What a load, feigning helpfulness with the hopes I would take some of their old and beaten inventory off their hands. In the end, I couldn't justify purchasing anything off the floor. The stock was old, variety of stuff was way down, and helpfulness was nil. If you're looking for something special, go to your local ReStore. They'll be more polite, helpful, and they won't lie to your face and move you on like a piece of cattle. You might actually find what you're looking for.

"Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, mister Gimme three…read moresteps towards the door?" (Lynyrd Skynyrd) After we had our hardwood floors and steps sanded and refinished, we decided to pretty up those steps with a carpet runner, which explains why we visited Galaxy Discount Carpet Store today. That decision ended up being a FIVE STAR experience. Their two floor showroom is just incredible! Sample boards, rolls stacked on the floor in rows, area rugs hanging from the ceiling, gorgeous stuff everywhere. We met with Charlie and explained to him what we were looking for. He said that staircase runners can either be pre-manufactured in big rolls, or custom cut from carpeting meant for rooms. We knew we wanted a runner in some shade of gray to complement our wall color, and decided on a carpet runner to be cut from a big grayish roll and then finished with black binding along the edges, to complement the black stair rail and contrast with the white stair risers. It was installed 72 hours later, and that was pretty amazing in it's own right. Communication with Galaxy was great. Charlie was a dream to work with, the installers called us the day before install to confirm the date and time window, and the van with two workers arrived as scheduled mid-afternoon and did a neat professional job on the install. Charlie's price was $140 less than one we had from a flooring company out in our neck of the woods, and the carpet quality was better at Galaxy. Everything went well, and the stairs look great!
