Plant roses where you have all the grass. More gazebos among the roses. My town has more roses than they do here. Sylvan Park, Redlands CA. I did love the big old tree.

This is a beautiful area to take pictures or to just check out the awesome mansion. They also host tours occasionally but they weren't the day I came. Took plenty of pictures in the garden as well and looked around the outside of the Mansion. It's a good spot to take some intimate photos. Parking - Plenty, they have parking on the street and there were many spots.

I enjoyed walking around and smelling all the varieties of roses. Some of the rose buses are very tall! The main rose garden is to the right of the house but the left side has a small all white/pink rose garden as well as the front of the house garnished with a line of rose bushes. The house and grounds remind me of some nice southern estate because it's so manicured and has tons of land with a big grass lawn. I don't know a lot about the Wrigley foundation other than they do the rose parade and choose the rose court. I wanted to come for the tour of the house but it's very limited, only open Thursdays at 2pm. It seems like a very popular destination for pictures as I saw a few people doing their graduation portraits here. For more rose gardens checkout my list: https://bit.ly/44hoyZR

Very picturesque and glamorous mansion and expansive green lawn with a soothing trellis walkway leading to colorful and abundant roses. Very relaxing to walk around and just sit to enjoy being outdoors in a tranquil setting. We saw several squirrels roaming around the trees and enjoyed watching them. Although we didn't get to see the inside of the mansion since it requires a reserved ticket, it was still a very pleasant adventure. They also have this cute house mailbox that serves as a sharing library where you can drop off books to share or pick from one of the available books to read.

The flowers were not in bloom but we enjoyed our short time walking around the Mansion grounds . Can't wait to come back when the roses are blooming and the mansion is open for touring

I went to the Wright Mansion tour and I loved it. The tour was directed by a wonderful guide named Bob. The history, structure of the building and land thru time was awesome to imagine. It's like going back into time and imagine how folks lived, the home designs and how money was being moved. If you like history, architecture and learning about city history come on by. Thank you Bob and staff, sending good wishes for the 2023 Rose Parade.

What is Pasadena most famous for? The Rose Bowl and the Rose Parade. Wrigley Gardens, on the grounds of Wrigley Mansion (former home of William Wrigley Jr., of chewing gum fame), is an All American Rose Selection test garden and the mansion is the HQ of the Tournament of Roses Parade organization. The gardens cover 4.5 acres and features many varieties of roses, including award winning varieties like the Julia Child. It's a peaceful spot that few seem to visit. You can take your time and admire the range of rose varieties. There are a few benches and plenty of bees. The mansion (now known as the Tournament House) is open for free public tours every Thursday from 2 - 4 PM from February through August. The mansion is located on what used to be the swankiest street in town. Wrigley Gardens is open to the public year round and maintained by volunteers. Admission is free. It's easy to find free parking.

After having a lovely rose tea, what would be more perfect than checking out the test gardens for the Rose Parade roses?! I've always loved flowers and I love going to gardens, so this was a great little side trip and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and you also have an affinity for flowers. There is the Wrigley mansion on the premises (yes, as in the gum) which is very pretty. The house was closed when we went but it is open for tours during the day. I'll have to be sure to check that out one day! The garden, however, is in the back and is accessible all day. It's much smaller than the rose garden at the Huntington, but similar in that all the roses have little plaques with their names! Man! I would love to have someone name a rose hybrid after me! :) There were so many stunning roses in pretty much every color imaginable. White, orange, yellow, red, and even purple. Just everything. Aside from taking pictures, I went around smelling them... Because you really should take the time out to smell the roses! These smelled heavenly! I would say most of them had different scents and some more intense or sweet than others. How beautiful! I loved it! If I lived in one of those houses nearby, I would be traversing those little paths all the time and really taking more time to smell every single rose. DAILY! :) Pretty and fragrant!

    Nothing to see!!
    Aura M.

Yes, five stars even though I didn't get to see any roses because there's nothing lol but it's a cute place to go sit down and "smell the roses" ha ha ha. Can't wait to go back in Spring.

    Nicole B.

It's a relatively small garden, but completely worth a visit every time you're in Pasadena. Many different varieties of roses, all with great names. It's free, peaceful and you can roam among the flowers.

It's almost the end of June and the roses are still in full bloom!

Case in point, I want to express that the…read moreArlington Garden in Pasadena is a green oasis amidst urban noise and pace but that would say little since people consider their backyard and their local parks to be a green space of peace. And they would be right- who am I to judge the green that someone holds precious whether it be jade from feudal China or a patch of blades that are bed for the soul to rest. So I am left with one task: to express the serene beauty of this place that is also engaging in a quiet way, with almost ethereal words to truly defend and display that this, in all its glory, is a green oasis that wins by a short shot. The grounds are not huge, it is small but comes close to being medium. But what I loved is that its green branches and brown barks and twigs were immersive. I had entered a green swirl that moved all around me in stillness of movement but blurs of garden spirits. The place was like an outside museum that honors mother earth and her mantra of tender care that explains how flowers grow best. One of the most engaging experiences was their wishing tree. It was about two to four big trees with hanging wishes written by everyday folk. As I walked the steps to the trees, as I passed between them my skin could feel the words of hope hanging from branches. It was like the cards spoke in lovely whispers that reminded me that days of beauty are created when people do not forget to see that joyous petals that are in the wind and all around in the everyday. And as one note reminded us, joy is not ready made, to find it takes action. Reading the notes was a way in which I elected joy, as an act of resistance toward anger and disapointment. There was also this gazebo with a statue of a greek goddess. These are guesses of mine, I did not find some type of placards to confirm my notions. She was framed in the gazebo by a quasi-window. I entered the small gazebo and sat in the only green bench maybe big enough for two.I did not understand why she was giving me her back, I wanted to face her. But then I realized that Demeter or Gaia (maybe?) was not facing me because she was looking at her creation, like any person would when they have a garden to admire. From that seat I saw a man doing Tai-Chi and being filmed by his partner in all red. I sat and viewed him quietly and ask that whatever he was calling forth with his movements also entered my own person. From this seat, I also saw a pregnant woman taking pictures. She was wearing a white dress with a tasteful floral pops around. At times, she laughed with a wide smile, at times she held the bundle with her hands. It was seeing a place of growth, welcome a being with life about to begin. Her partner joined and they were directed into stances that made sense--- like the one where they look longingly at each other while he held her, and she held the coming boy. I could see their happiness, I could see their true connection, and I knew that the baby was being born into comfort and love. It was great reminder that sometimes life blooms with ease into joy. I also saw a lizard run and move its neck, both in a funny way. I saw a sole butterfly flutter. I saw folks sitting, relaxing, eating, all in with a calm demeanor. So I would like to think that this place is a green oasis or at least a place where rest is each to come by.

To be perfectly honest, if you were to ask me how to describe/explain what The Huntington has to…read moreoffer, I wouldn't even know where to start - quite literally. When I've told friends and family about this place, I've almost always been at a loss for words because there is just so much to detail. And yet, if/when they ask me if it's worth checking out, the answer comes out quick, clean, and clear - absolutely! Sitting on what is/was the Huntington family's estate, this place is very impressive. Within their expansive, palatial grounds, there's a library, multiple art galleries and museums, several botanical gardens, a conservatory, a research center, an educational center, a Japanese heritage house (Shoya House), a tea room, a Chinese restaurant, a milk tea shop, numerous smaller gardens, and so much more. What's more, each of those museums, galleries, and gardens are distinctly different from each other - galleries and exhibits featuring American, British/European, and Asian artwork, a Japanese garden, a Chinese garden, a desert garden, a rose garden, a bonsai garden, a California garden...and the list goes on. Despite having spent the better part of a day walking around and exploring the grounds, I'm pretty sure we only managed to get through roughly half of what there is to see here. Of the ones we did make it through, my favorites were the Chinese and Japanese gardens, as they felt the most tranquil and offered the most shade of all of the gardens we saw. Not to mention the fact that we ended up spending a lot of time here before and after stopping in for lunch at the Jade Court Cafe in the Chinese garden. Among the galleries, I also enjoyed walking through the Huntington's Art Gallery, which seemed to hold most of the oldest American and European pieces, as well as historical info about the Huntingtons themselves. Given how much there is to see here, The Huntington is worth the price of admission, even if it does appear to be a little hefty ($34 for adults, with discounted rates available for seniors, students, military, and kids). They do offer free admission on the first Thursday of each month as well, but you'll need to claim tickets in advance starting the Thursday before. Also, if you're short on time, the visitor center has a list of highlights and suggested itineraries, but you'll inevitably miss out on a lot to see. Whenever you do come here, though, even if it's just to go to their tea room, make sure to bring sunscreen and wear some comfortable shoes, as you'll end up doing plenty of walking outdoors. They do have a tram that circles loops around the grounds, but you'll still have to walk from the stop to wherever you want to go. Just make sure to stop and smell the many flowers along the way!
