Not good. Not good at all…read more The Royal Chef is a Chinese takeaway and fish and chip shop combined, straight out of the 80's. I dread to think how much MSG goes into their cooking. The one and only time I've had Chinese takeaway from here I was up half the night hallucinating. It's salty, slimey and reminiscent of the poor quality food that we grew up with. In a world where we're a little more conscious of what we put into our bodies this sort of food has no place anymore I'm afraid. The chips are no better, and always seemed to taste like they were yesterday's ones refried too.

The only problem is they cook to order so it can be a bit of a wait. I always phone first and collect later. In the Chinese field i have only ever had sweet and sour chicken balls and special rice which I have always enjoyed. You get 10 chicken balls as one portion. In my view take away fish and chips has gone down in value almost everywhere but this is a place i visit should I want some.
