I worry there's a big conspiracy - i.e, maybe Hi-Tide put something in their chips to make us say that. But are the chips really better than everywhere else? I have my own theory. My theory is that all chippy chips taste EXACTLY THE SAME. Seriously, if I was to line them up one by one, chip by chip, from chippy to chippy, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Despite this fact; I do like Hi-Tide; I think their chips are as good as anyones and their staff are always friendly and chatty; even though I worry about the spotty, greasy dude who's sorting my chips out. I apologise for the blandity of my review, I just truly believe that all Fish & Chip shops are exactly the same.

What makes me give Hi-Tide the 4 stars is the fish which I have always found really good. I have tried most types from the meaty Rock to the Juicy Cod, and have loved them all. Anastasia will right away make you feel at home and serve you the best fish you'll try in London, or in England for that matter. Having visited various cities and restaurants in this country, I haven't found anything coming even close to Anastasia's place. The fish is fresh and made to perfection. You can choose fried or grilled. You can have chips (the quality is simply beyond words) or a fresh Greek salad that is simply delicious. All ingredients are of the outmost quality and freshness. This last visit I was very pleased to see that an inspector had come to check the place and granted them not only a five (highest rating for cleanliness) but he also went to the extent of congratulating them on their menu choices (see pictures attached). Well it must be good as it is still around so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered sausage and chips to take away. They were very generous with the portion size which I actually could not finish. The chips were average and not really anything special - I was anticipating better ie crisp but fluffy. Instead they were abit soft and almost soggy (I suppose it depends how you like your chips ?!). I noticed they had a good sized seating area and a special deal for pensioners (I must tell my mum).
