When I had a rebuilt alternator fail about a year after replaced- they replaced it with no charge for the unit (just labor). I've also had brake work and other repairs done there with excellent outcomes. If you're looking for a reliable mechanic for your college student away from home and are worried about being taken advantage of by an unknown mechanic- rest easy. I had a 10am appointment on Wednesday, September 16th. at the Harrisonburg, Virginia location. I sat in the lobby / waiting room and at 1105am I was still in the lobby with my car still sitting out front with no service started. I approached the counter and spoke with a young man and informed him that I had been sitting for over an hour with an appointment and yet my car was still sitting out front with no service and no communication that they were running behind or there was any issue. I asked for my keys back and stated that my time is very important to me and that the lack of communication was unacceptable. As the young man went to the bay to retrieve my keys the manager entered the front door with his lunch that he had ordered and made contact with the young man in the bay area. They spoke briefly at which time the young man approached me and handed me my keys and walked away. No apology or any type of concern from the young man working the counter or the manager. While Iam a fan of the firestone product this type of business operation is not acceptable. I totally understand that things happen and often the customer is inconvenienced by unforeseen circumstances. However this lack of communication, customer service and general business ethics is not acceptable. Iam sure I can find another Tire Vendor (Goodyear. Mr. Tire or Costco) that will gladly treat me better and appreciate my $1400.00. If Firestone is concerned about the overall business operation at the Harrisonburg, Virginia Facility I would certainly retain new management and a refresh of Customer Service Training for the staff you have working up front. It's fine that a mechanic doesn't particularly want to talk to customers. I get it. Other staff are ostensibly present to handle these human vs shop interactions, but usually they're not. And when they are there, what you'll get is a big helping of "tough luck" or a story about work you need done on your car and scoffing indifference if you refuse. They've repeatedly been unable to help me in a timely manner, and I am not alone. I don't know why these folks don't care... in general... they just seem ornery and apathetic. So. Avoid this place.
