I have to admit, I am so spoiled and fortunate to have stumbled on such great mechanics throughout my travels, Wrench Craft is one of these hidden (?) gems! When you move to a new city, it takes a minute to find a solid mechanic as it is often word of mouth, luckily I found Wrench Craft pretty quickly. Not only did I get a word of mouth recommendation, it was by another locally well regarded mechanic who was unable to help on that particular day my Violette broke down. Dean spent a significant amount of time determining what turned out to be a complex issue, explained exactly what was happening, what my options were, what actually needed to be replaced, and what could wait a little longer. This was such a relief because money has been so tight and Violette (my sweet pathfinder) is my baby. When Violette started acting up again and I brought her back, Dean stayed and worked until the issue was resolved. This place was so great! I'm an out of town college student with my first car and know nothing about cars. The owner not only changed my oil but he would come in the waiting area as his other employees were working on my car, to educate me about how oil changes work. Also educated me about the importance of changing the oil on time. Very nice employees. I've been up charged and ripped off for oil changes before and this was so reasonably priced. I've been bringing all of my import vehicles to Dean for about 27 years and theres a reason for that. Wrenchcraft is a truly honest garage. Dean really really knows his shit and will keep your car running great! You won't get a bunch of stuff replaced that doesn't need to be replaced... No fake made up repairs likes a dealership. I've always gotten great service and Dean stands behind his work. I have nearly 300,000 miles on my Toyota and I've never had it to the dealership since I purchased it there. Instead, they spoke with my father over the phone about any/all issues we found with the car before moving forward with anything. The dean at JMU referred me three years ago to Wrenchcraft. Visiting from the DC area and a light went on the 2003 Toyota had me worried. They took me the same hour I pulled up. Problem was minor and I drove on my merry way. Three years later my daughter has had this older car down at school and each time she had a problem or just needed an oil change I would tell her to call WC for her work! Have a student at JMU with a car. Using their great Yelp reviews, identified this shop for any emergency car repairs while at school. Called in the late afternoon because the brake light had come on on the car. They took the car in first thing the next morning and diagnosed the braking system. Found only a minor issue and fixed it immediately - recommending that a more expensive repair wait until the car could be serviced by our local mechanic. Did all of the diagnostics and repair for a very reasonable charge. High quality service, quick response, and fair pricing!! They are located only a few minutes from campus.
