When I was in the 7th grade I'd stay up late at night and try my best to make a mix tape with all your love songs. In school we'd make dance routines to all your DJ Laz booty beats. My friends and I would find ourselves swearing that when we got older we would go to every party, concert and summer beach-house party you had. But sadly those days are gone. Every blue moon you'll surprise me and play a throwback song. Something they'll make me feel like I'm back in the good ole '90s when everything in the world was calm. If I turn you on now I know that most likely I'll hear the same song within the hour. Why must you play out songs??? Do we really need to hear Boom Boom Pow 4 times in an hour. Is Pitbull the only artist alive ? You once had a great mix of House and electronic but now all we get is a mash-up of Britney Spears "circus" and bob Sinclair " World hold on " What's a girl to do? I mean y100 is at least honest about their Mostly Pop genre I think it's time to come out the closet 96.5. Don't claim to be Miami's top Radio station if your going to play the same 39 sings you do every hour. The only thing that truly keeps me happy with this station is the Christmas song they play " Mi Barrito" god that song will never get old. read more

Dear Power 96, I have a love-hate relationship with you, that's for sure. I hate to love you and love to hate you, all that the same time. As a little girl, I used to listen to Miami Bass and Freestyle on your station, singing along and dancing in front of my mirror. I can remember Spring Breaks past with your whole hysterical gimmick of "Have you Seen my Bikini Top?!", that had my friends and I quoting that actually, still to this day! But as we grew (and you grew too), you changed. You added different genres of music, which is ok, but then you continued to try to be the Top 40/popular mix, yet while still holding true to your roots... These days you overplay most music, kill the songs that are good, blow up songs that suck, and have more commercials than I care to listen to. The morning show is funny, but can often get annoying, when Laz and Lucy-Lo are screaming their heads off at 730am to some insane Reagetton beat... But I still hold on to my love for you because of our past love affair. And I will always NEED and ADORE the Booty Shake Friday Morning mix that always has my ass shaking on the way to work. Power 96 is my default radio station. When I'm in the car and there's nothing in particular I want to listen to, my radio inevitably ends up tuned to 96.5. DJ Laz and the Morning Pimp Show often fill my car with morning talk about random stuff on my way to work. Thrown in with the occasional hip-hop track, and it's exactly what I need to get me going for the work-day ahead. Granted, if I'm in the car long enough, I'll end up hearing the same 5 or 10 songs every hour, but hey, that's happening on most of the stations around town. When I'm in the car (especially on my way to and from the office), I want to listen to some good tunes and jam out in the car. Power 96 delivers, more often than not. read more

Are people rating the actual radio station or the location? Well, either way they both average to 3 stars for me. For the actual Powere 96 location I would give it 4 stars. My husband won these tickets to game works and i 7 months later won the Family Guy TV series Season 4 I think, so I went to pick them up. It is in a small building off of 2nd avenue anf after Ives Dairy Road. It is right after the Pollo Tropical. It is a little hood, but inside it was really nice. The male secretary that they have to greet you is kind of odd and looks like he hates being there, but was nice and polite. The actual woman who came to give me the prize was really nice and she had a nice big smile on her face. Now, if I am rating power 96 the radio station show and not the location, well, I will give them a 2 star rating and I am being EXTREMELY nice due to the fact that I have a lot of memories as I was growing up. Now a days i cannot stand to listen to the morning show. It is too much blah and not enough jams. The whole morning crew show is so hard for me to listen to. The only good one there is DJ laz. He is ACTUALLY sort of funny and he is the only one that carries the stations ratings and listeners. All the songs are so repetative. What pisses me off is all those damm ads that the crew does. Tge "Call Jorge" I hate those. They are so stupid. They are annoying and because of all that I will be surprised if I actually stop to listen more than one song here, and that is if I get to hear a song. What ever happened to good radio? read more

When I first moved to Miami I loved this station. Sure they played a lot of top 40 songs but the morning show was funny and the mixes kept me happy :) when laz left it became even more commercials and 'funny' segments. I think what really killed me is the new one 'you should have died when you were a baby' thats not funny, that's bad karma bro. Now that laz is back on 106.7 I've been checking that out and I prefer it much more, so I guess my relationship with power 96 is over :'( maybe ill still tune in for the traffic jam but I'm glad not to have to hear that obnoxious Lucy lo anymore! Very popular radio station, decent music, but they spend too much time laughing and trying to pronounce words correctly. They will spend 30 seconds trying to pronounce a word and then spend another minute laughing about it, feels like a waste of time. This is a daily occurrence, and is very childish considering they air to all of SoFlo. read more

The jocks act like they are celebs when really they need to go back to some sort of broadcast school and get some training in public speaking. All they are good at is hyping up themselves. Power 96 has gone down hill after DJ Laz left in 2012. I remember being a teenager 15+ years ago and this was the only station i would listen to and DJ Laz was the main reason. But now they just play the same songs over and over. I swear within a 2 hour period i've heard the same 5-7 songs multiple times (most of the two hour window is just Jelena songs). station is great if you want to hear the latest and hottest songs but without the DJ Laz morning show the station is no longer the king of miami and once u hear the rotation of songs (they also play the same songs every single day too) you want to change stations to hear different songs. read more

Power 96 yea good station. But don't waste your time calling in to win tickets for something. I was the automatic winner in white black Hispanic or other. They toke my information down ;phone, email, and address and they said they would call to let me know when to pick them up. Guess what they never did. When i did call and asked what happen they said the tickets were there the while time "come get them if you want them but we close in 1 hour" the lady was very rude,nasty, does not know how to speak to people. I say they need to start kickin' it old school with some freestyle jams and the occasional hits from the 90's. And over playing songs does happen with a lot of other stations especially the spanish ones (mega 94.9). I just want to hear more of a variety than the crapola that's coming out nowadays.
