AM 940 WINZ has made several changes in their lineup of hosts and programming since I started listening, some for the better, some for the worse IMO. I heard early this week that WINZ is changing format this Friday evening and will now be a Fox Sports Radio affiliate. Sadly, this takes away 1 more news/information outlet from the radio dial and adds a 6th sports radio station in the Miami market (like the 5 we already have aren't serving this market well enough). I'll miss you, WINZ; we've spent lots of weekday mornings and afternoons together. I guess it's time to pick up an XM or Sirius satellite receiver. Until then, it's NPR or my weekend and nighttime favorites, 93 Rock and 105.9.

Because of repetitive playlists and to "work my investment" in satellite radio I had been listening to South Florida radio stations less and less. So imagine my disappointment this Saturday night when as I left Borders I put you guys on to get hyped to go out afterward and you guys were playing Rob Thomas or some stuff like that. I ended up heading straight home! That is certainly not Saturday night, 11pm music! Hello, that's the time most people (30 somethings included) are starting to head out. Similar passes through your station these past few days yielded a similar results. I hate to say it but you guys are turning into another "Ghost 97". I spoke about this with the program director, and sympathize with their situation about trying to attract more listeners. Everyone has to make a living. I do agree with them taking out the Ke/Ga/Be stuff they play on Y100, and hope they keep the cheesy lawyer ads to a minimum. However, by going to this sappy stuff - ON A SATURDAY NIGHT no less - you risk alienating your core group of freestyle and disco fans. Just because I'm in my 30's and with a master's degree doesn't mean I'm ready to take my dancing shoes completely off! I'm going to give you 2 stars, since they did say they're planning on doing the freestyle reunion again as well as the friday afternoon mixes. I have GOD, my angels, and 105.9. it's like the station was my comfort and my sanctuary. there's no way I could give back what you have given my soul and helped repair my brokenness. Please be aware how you guys have impacted my mental health. I have always loved this station but now this has become an epiphany. I had been with out music for 3 months of how depressed I was. South Florida is jam packed with pop/Top 40 stations, and we needed some diversity on the radio with decent music! I love that The Shark plays alternative music and also up and coming indie music as well. I like that the DJs don't talk too much at any point in the day and you don't hear too many commercials either. I love listening to The Big Mistake with Ashley O and Spanish, they're both very funny and witty, but they also play a lot of music in the mornings at the same time. The station has a lot of consistent prize giveaways and I've also had the opportunity to take advantage of the Shark out of Water concerts as well for being part of the Chum Club. Be sure to turn on the Shark for a listen if you're in the South Florida area!

All of the djs are articulate as well as entertaining, and I like the morning show, "The Big Mistake," because they have a good amount of talk, humor, and music. (It seems that many of the other local morning shows are mostly talk with little, or no, music.) The Shark was also the main sponsor of The Riptide Musical Festival in early December. It was an incredible event with several stages, great activities, bars, and food....right on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Riptide's lineup was amazing: Panic at the Disco, 311, Live, Third Eye Blind, Collective Soul, Everclear, Sublime with Rome; and then there were many new artists: Blue October, Robert Delong, Alice Merton, and more. It seems they are always promoting some concert or another and I hope they will be around for a long time! They fill a much needed space in the air waves of South Florida.

Going to be switching radio stations after my negative experience w Clear Channel. Long story but…read morewe had wind two tickets to the Iggy Azalea concert which was then cancelled. Since i had already driven to their Miramar Office twice to pick the tickets up (couldn't find them the first time) and fill out tax paperwork, called to see if they could either give us tickets for another concert or redo/delete the tax paperwork so I didn't get reported to the IRS for something I never rec'd through no fault of my own. When after six weeks of calling Jordan and never getting a return phone call, I then left a message up the chain for Michelle Riviera. Never heard back from either for another 3 weeks when suddenly my persistence paid off and Jordan actually answered the phone. The best I got from her was she'd look into it and ca me back. Another month goes by and again no follow up by Jordan or Michelle. Finally reach Jordan again on 6/26 and she tells me it's with accounting and it will take them 2-3 weeks to make a decision. Really? Seriously is this that complicated? Apparently for Clear Channel it is. Finally today I reach Jordan (notice not once did anyone EVER return my calls; I had to keep calling. This is no way to do business) and she tells me accounting has 'reversed' the IRS paperwork so she can only give me a couple of Marlins tickets that I, once again need to drive there to pick up. Folks, whether you are trying to do a promotion w them, purchase advertising, or win a contest, it is simply not worth the effort to work with such an unprofessional group. I also guarantee they did nothing w the IRS paperwork and they wi still turn it I and I will them report them for find false tax liability. Absolutely incompetent.
