So glad there's an alternative rock station in South Florida! The Shark plays a really good musical mix of popular alternative artists/songs and they also showcase many new artists. All of the djs are articulate as well as entertaining, and I like the morning show, "The Big Mistake," because they have a good amount of talk, humor, and music. (It seems that many of the other local morning shows are mostly talk with little, or no, music.) The Shark was also the main sponsor of The Riptide Musical Festival in early December. It was an incredible event with several stages, great activities, bars, and food....right on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Riptide's lineup was amazing: Panic at the Disco, 311, Live, Third Eye Blind, Collective Soul, Everclear, Sublime with Rome; and then there were many new artists: Blue October, Robert Delong, Alice Merton, and more. It seems they are always promoting some concert or another and I hope they will be around for a long time! They fill a much needed space in the air waves of South Florida. read more

I've been so happy listening to the radio ever since 104.3 The Shark debuted on South Florida airwaves a few years ago! South Florida is jam packed with pop/Top 40 stations, and we needed some diversity on the radio with decent music! I love that The Shark plays alternative music and also up and coming indie music as well. I like that the DJs don't talk too much at any point in the day and you don't hear too many commercials either. I love listening to The Big Mistake with Ashley O and Spanish, they're both very funny and witty, but they also play a lot of music in the mornings at the same time. The station has a lot of consistent prize giveaways and I've also had the opportunity to take advantage of the Shark out of Water concerts as well for being part of the Chum Club. Be sure to turn on the Shark for a listen if you're in the South Florida area! read more

This review is about my visit to pick up a prize, not the actual station. I absolutely love the DJs on this station and the music they play. I won a Tito's dog package for correctly guessing which breed of dog was barking (Will on Wednesdays around 6:30pm). You can only pick up prizes M-F until 5pm. I work sometimes until 7pm so it took me 3 months to pick it up. I finally was able to leave work at 4:30pm on Friday and zoom down there. First off, it is difficult to see and turn into quickly. And it's not the best looking area. I ring the bell and said I why I was there and was buzzed in. The girl at the desk appeared like I was bothering her. She was looking at what she was doing and asked what price it was. Did not say hi, make eye contact, or even fake a smile. She asks for my ID, gives it back, and then proceeds to ask my name again. She then hands me the waiver form to sign and walks into another room to retrieve my prize. When she comes back, I asked politely if I just print and sign my name or she needs more info. She condescendingly says "where it says print, you print your name. You sign where it says signature". Wow! I can read little girl I was just asking how much information she needed. I didn't have the energy to say anything so I left. I looked at the "package" when I got into my car. I won and I am grateful but it looked like someone ransacked some of the items in the package. Will told me there was a bowl, a T-shirt, a frisbee, and some items. It was a tote bag with a Tito's dog toy, a leash, and tin sign. If I knew it was that minuscule, I would have said to keep it and save the gas. I still love the station and still listen but I will be weary if I try to win again. read more

The "easy listening" format is gone and I spent a day in South Florida tuned into The Shark, listening to alternative. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson and Neon Trees rocked my world from PBI to Boca and to Indiantown. Great tunes and in the morning, the talk radio stuff was actually pretty funny. I LOVE this station. The day I found out we had a new alternative rock station, I was so excited. This is the best thing to happen since 94.9 Zeta Rock. I heard this morning (on the Big Mistake) that some guy was bashing the station and bashing the morning show. Ashley O is the highlight of my day. She makes me laugh constantly, and she is an amazing presence. Whenever I call in for prizes, even when I lose she makes me feel good about myself lol. And when I actually did win (December 2018, Muse tickets!) Spanish was such a wonderful and inspirational person to speak to, even as briefly as I did. He thanked me for listening and made me feel valued, when I should be thanking them for starting my mornings off on such a high note. I even posted a video of my ugly crying face when I won those tickets. These people make a great difference when they put together things like the Food Fight, and they bring people together with their events. I cannot believe someone would go out of their way to send a nasty message to such kind, hard working people. I even loved when the mornings started off with Toast, but I'm glad to hear he's on another rock station that I love! The only "bad" experience that I had with them, and it was honestly miniscule, it when I went to pick up my prize tickets, and the receptionist at the station was just not in the mood. I didn't take it to heart, cause whatever, I just won some amazing tickets! Even then, Ashley and Spanish confirmed this morning that there's a new receptionist to make this experience even greater! So before I make this longer than it already is, just know that these guys, whether you like them or not, do such amazing work on and off the air. The music they introduce us to is the best compared to what comes out these days. I fell in love with Barnes Courtney cause of 104.3. If you don't like the station for it's people, like them for what they do. They spread love, awareness, and bring happiness. What more could you ask for? With one local rock station left that has an awful playlist I was going to resort to installing Sirrus in my car. I feel like 104.3 rescued the abysmal state of our South Florida airwaves. I love the new, fresh music. The morning show is an entertaining alternative to the same-old local morning show we've been hearing for years.I like that it's local with in-area news, events and information as opposed to nationally syndicated morning shows that have no real stake in the local community. 104.3 is my favorite radio station and makes my day a better day. I love listening to the music on the shark other than they repeat songs way to much. Toast and Ashley O are completely horrible to listen to. Half the time I listen to them I feel less smart. They kill your brain cells just listening to them. I do not know how they made a career in radio. I turn my radio off when they talk so I do not have to listen to what stupid story they try to make funny, but cant. There feeds r so ridiculous and ignorant.
