Wow Deli is great if you're after a freshly made sandwich at lunchtime. As well as regular baguettes they do 'wedge' sandwiches where they cut you two slices of fresh bread (white or brown), and cut 'em thick, before putting your sandwich together from a wide selection of hot and cold fillings and a bit of salad if you want it. I recommend the 'wedge' because the bread they use is really good quality and it's a nice change from a standard baguette.
The variety of sandwich fillings is really impressive so it's great for these, but Wow Deli also do meals like curries, roast dinners to take away (not sure how that would work but I'm willing to give it a try because it smelt really good) and other funky things like chilli nachos and a range of soups. There's also drinks and cakes if you want some extras to go with your meal. The service is great too, the staff are nice and friendly and seem to get along really well, which is nice. If you're in a rush you can even telephone in your orders to save time and then pop in to pick them up, and if you're on a budget there are discount vouchers available, but I haven't used these myself so I don't know how they work.
Though the food here is good what slightly lets Wow Deli down is the more practical stuff, especially the seating. There was plenty of outdoor seating when I was there but as we're going into winter now I don't see this really appealing to people like inside seating would. However if there was indoor seating you'd have to brave the stifling heat of the shop itself. I was only in there for about 2 minutes but in that time I felt uncomfortably hot. It's a wonder how the staff in there stay so cheerful. For this reason Wow Deli is great if you want to pop in for something quick, but if you want to get something that takes a bit longer to eat than a sandwich or that you need a knife and fork for then you could be struggling, especially if it's raining and you're far from your office.
Aside from the actual shop Wow Deli also offers catering for outside events, and they do an especially good buffet if you're booking a party in neighbouring Wow Bar. I was at a student society party where we did this and the food selection that Wow Deli provided was excellent, especially the range of freshly made sandwiches. If you're looking for event caterers Wow Deli is definitely one to consider (details are on their website). read more
