Tonight I came by in an emergency at 6:55 pm (they close at 7 pm) as the kid working was locking the door. Rather than let me in, he stared at me blankly through the windows like I couldn't see him. I yelled to ask if they were open and even tried to just get a thumbs up or down gesture from him in case he couldn't hear me. Ended up having to take my $174.38 order to Home Depot. Pretty frustrating.

This one was just the right degree of cleanliness! The staff were so friendly and welcoming! When we mentioned we were from out of town, the eager employee offered to introduce us to the owner! Surprisingly the prices weren't "tourist stop high", just the regular hardware store prices. If you are coming through, New York, this is a worthwhile place to stop and look around.

They sharpen all sorts of blades, be they knife, scissor, chain or lawn mower, and fix not only all the things that they sell but even most of the things that don't sell. I've been using Howe's, a family owned operation since they first opened decades ago, having them repair all sorts of things from generators to chainsaws for me, and I've always been more than pleased with their friendly family type of service plus the good information they have given me concerning anything or any hardware problem I might have. They have everything from bird feeders, to rodent traps and from nuts to bolts to barbecue sets; way too many to list. This is a hardware store for which the big box hardware, such as Lowe's, shouldn't present any competition threat since the big box places can't even come close to the services provided by Howe's. I'm rating them Five Stars because as far as hardware and go services go, Howe's really is WooHoo! As good as it gets.

Recently discovered this business and I am very glad I did…read more This year, I needed help getting 2 very specific items for my wife for Christmas. Due to the pandemic, I did everything over the internet. The gentleman I dealt with was only concerned with helping me get exactly what I wanted. With incredible patience he provided me with specific information, checked inventories and made suggestions. After I made my final decisions, he explained all of the options available for assembly and delivery. The day after I made my decisions I physically went into the the store to pay for my selections. All of the paperwork needed was prepared and waiting at the front desk. This entire process was fast, easy and a perfect example of stellar customer service. I will definitely be going back here many, many times.
