There was an ad in the paper for Livingston saying they were having a grand opening and would do a free exam and check up. That did happen and they did a pretty good job. However, when I mentioned the ad he never even heard or saw the advertisement. It was just the way that corporate gets people to get in their stores. We ended up asking for their top of the line hearing aid. It was called a Starkey and the. cost was $5,200. I went home and started to do some research. I found out that Starkey top-of-the-line hearing aid was their genesis 24. I called up Livingston and asked which model they ordered for me. They said the Genesis 20, which is not their top-of-the-line. They said the top of the line was another thousand dollars. I researched online and found a top-of-the-line Genesis 24 for $4800. $1,400 less!! I called up Livingston and asked why didn't they order me the top-of-the-line as I asked, and said if they match the 4800 I would still go with them. The doctor never returned my call. I ordered hearing aids from a company called zip. They supply the hearing aids at a greatly discounted price and then work with companies to do the fitting. It was a great experience. The new company did a much more thorough job than Livingston. I ended up with a hearing aid called phonak which seems to have much more capabilities and better sound than Starkey. I don't recommend Livingston. Give Zip a try.

We are now in mid July, and I have heard NOTHING. Making several attempts to contact them has not been successful as they do not answer their phones and all messages have fallen on deaf ears (pun intended) as I have not received any response. If this is the hassle I have to go through to get my hearing aids, I'd hate to think of the type of service I would get for any follow-up attempts. I have attempted to cancel my order through TruHearing but they also cannot get a response as they need the order back from McCurley to cancel. So it looks like even the supplier can't get any action. I would hate to get a lawyer involved just to cancel an order that was never received because McCurley staff continue to ignore me. Funny how just the 5 star reviews are the only ones posted.

The new ones are still great after another five years. I just went in for some help replacing the tips of them (at no charge). I was afraid to monkey with them on my own. The office was very helpful and friendly, taught me how to replace the tips myself and gave me some extras. You will not get care and quality like this from places like Cosco -- I know because my partner went there and wants to take his hearing aids back and go to McCurley.

I dropped down $6000 on my current pair of BTE's, also knowing that even though there is supposedly a return period the audiologist was going to steer me away from that. These are my third pair of hearing aids, second from Sandia. I don't need to explain the fitting process but weekly I go in and have them adjusted, brutal process. However the receptionist Joyce cant appreciate the fact I don't want to talk to her in more than she wants to talk to me. Now for the specifics, the clear tube connecting the microphone to the ear mold is too short, so it interferes with my glasses and falls off my ears constantly, the left ear mold does not seat properly causing constant feedback. This is embarrassing to me and annoying others, these BTE's have great technology but it's not perfect and I understand that. The fact I was never given options makes no sense as I said I've worn two sets of hearing aids for ten years I know my body. Finally it got so tedious going in weekly that I was to rely on my app to solve my problems of adjustment, doesn't quit seem right.

She spends the time needed to hear the problems and to explain the issues, engaged with all the myriad data points every time I have an exam (imagine doing that for every patient; I know that she does because I'm acquainted with a few others of her patients and we all marvel about this) and yet at the same time she always brings a positive/encouraging friendly/kind/caring demeanor that is attentive to the smallest issues and patiently gracious even with the eccentricities of difficult patients (ask how I know). Her staff is professional and kind in person, and you'll generally get a same-day reply from Dr. Barlow or her staff (never later than the next day!) when you send an inquiry through the MyChart system. Dr. Barlow not only gives good, targeted referrals for specialist care, she follows up to make sure that care was provided to her standards. Dr. Barlow comes across as a wonderful caring friend - my wife and I think it's almost a miracle that we'd be blessed to know a physician who's both so razor-edge sharp and yet such a lovely person.
