My love!

With my favorite duck in the whole world about to leave San Pedro, I figure I should post my farewell-my-love review... I've been longing to see this guy since he first popped up all over the media. That perfectly proportioned head to body, the beady eyes, the cute little smile through this beak. Since I saw him, any void in my heart has been filled. However....our relationship was doomed from the beginning. I knew, going into the relationship, that it would be short-lived and that he'd take a piece of me with him when he left me. It didn't matter...I'll take the risk! The moment I saw him, my heart melted and I needed to run up to him and hug him. One simply cannot take enough pictures when encountering this duck. One will want to stay in his presence the entire day if possible. I wanted to bring him home with me, but once i realized he wouldn't fit in or on my Mochiball, I decided to buy a little souvenir to take home instead. Did I want to spend $10-$15 on a little rubber duck that I wouldn't take out of a bag? Why yes, I did...but instead I decided on an adorable pair of ducky earrings. Now I can wear ducks with me anywhere I want! ^____________^ Was he worth the hype? YES! Would I have paid more than $7 to see him? YES! Do I really remember all of the ships there? I'm sorry to say no, not really. I will miss you with the fluffy parts of my heart and I never forget the moments we had together! I would've posted the picture of us kissing, but I knew it's time to let go. All my pictures will be there to remind me of our one special day!

Quack quack quack! My love for ducks has pretty much turned to an obsession. My gf probably thinks I'm crazy! But I'm passionate about ducks, I can't help it! I LOVE MY DUCKS! Well, I was really anticipating checking out the world's largest rubber duck. I had everything planned out for the day. I just couldn't wait when I found out it was coming to LA. I had to go no matter what! So if you want to see the baby rubber duckie, its free and near 5th and Harbor. If you want to check out the big mama duck, its near the USS IOWA. Admission was 7 dollars to get in. You had a chance to get a photo opp with the duck. We took total advantage and took pics at every angle possible. My life is now COMPLETE. The festival was great! There were lots and lots of food trucks, not to mention people. I'm so glad I went to see the duck, it was a once in a lifetime experience! #goducks I can tell my grandkids that I was face to face with the biggest rubber duck in the world!

They don't called this world largest rubber duck without for a reason, this floating cute ducky weight over 1300 pounds and over 100 feet tall ! This is first time they had this in the west coast, who know if they ever come back.. History said unlikely but maybe in other west coast cities in distance future... Parking is not bad but you can find free parking not too far away in most resident area. This place is packed even during when it just open the door, expect a line.. There's two entrace, the line near the USS IOWA is long.. But the entrance in the left is fast and his is when you get your ticket. Which run $7 to all way over $80 if you want full sail on the ship which probably no need, since the rubber duck is so close to the pier and you need some distance to take a decent photo. LIke I need to tell you more, bring you *(&$ camera and just enjoy it ! There;s some band and small set of booth, real reason to come here is to see the ducky !

Rubber ducky, you're the one. (squeaky squeaky) You make bath time lots of fun. (squeaky squeaky) Rubber ducky, i'm awfully fond of you. (woh woh be doh) Rubber ducky, joy of joys. (squeaky squeaky) When I squeeze you, you make noise (squeaky squeaky) Rubber ducky, you're my very best friend it's true. (doo doo doo dooo doo doo) I think the majority of people know this catchy little ditty from their childhood and frankly the song sticks in my head to this day. Pretty much everyone has had a positive experience with a rubber ducky at some point. When we saw this this massive 80+ foot (along with his smaller 10 foot companion) duck was sitting at the Port of Los Angeles we knew it was just a matter of time before we made our way over to check it out. Finally on the duckies last day before sailing away and departing the Los Angeles area forever we made the trip over to catch a glimpse and get some photos to document his trip. When we arrive there was a large number of people pushing and shoving (not literally), to get photos, selfies, video and anything else they can of their families with the ducky. I wish the gates were open allowing us to go down to the 10 foot duck to get pictures with it but unfortunately this was not the case during our visit. After working our way up to the railing and procuring some photos we walked around a bit, taking in the sights and the wife purchased a signed souvenir ducky to commemorate the trip. It was very cool to be able to see how large this thing truly is in person and I am curious to see where it ends up next. They had a chart posted on the railing tracking his progress across the world thus far and it has definitely made its rounds. A very cool diversion to check out and I am glad we decided to make the trek over to San Pedro to see firsthand.

From a distance, the Santa Monica Festival at Clover Park looked like…read moreany other free outdoor community event, a weekend sea of pedestrians and rows of white tents and bold lettered banners. But Saturday was cool, Clover's grass was green, and the atmosphere was indeed festive. There were several options for free or metered parking in supervised lots within walking distance, making at least our vehicular arrival and departure quick and painless. After leaving the car, we made a beeline for the park's restrooms, where, as it typically happens whenever we step out to a fairground, we spent a considerable chunk of our visit waiting our turns in slow-moving lines. Plenty of music filled our ears while we waited, especially the notes coming from center stage, where a featured group, The Lions, sounded particularly captivating. We quietly joined standing watchers later on, just in time to see The Lions wrap up their soulful and energetic gig. Festival treats were also close at hand, so we couldn't miss tasting Linde's old-fashioned sugar roasted almonds. We followed our noses to her popular table where I impulsively grabbed us a couple of warm paper cones in a sweet twofer deal. Linde jokingly asked if we were unable to share, to which I honestly replied, "yes." It was a fair-tastic time. The usual apparel gifts and arts-and-craftsy things were available for passers-by to browse and purchase, and interactive activities engaged families, kids, and kids-at-heart. It seemed apparent to us after one walk-through that the city government was out to connect with and educate visitors in exchange for cheap swag and fun, with a number of public service kiosks that let you spin wheels and answer questions for prizes. We didn't get around to checking everything out (see Tess M.'s yelp here: http://bit.ly/11hmlqO for some neat things we missed), but all in all, the Festival was pleasant and low-key, which is pretty much Santa Monica in a nutshell.

I am for sure going to try to come to this event every year because it was soo fun. It is a night event where it reminds me of something similar to 626 night market but held in Little Tokyo and is a lot small size. But overall this is pretty fun because you can see so many different people dressing up nd enjoying themselves. There is food to buy from vendors and also things to buy. So shopping around was pretty nice. Food also was super good!! The event is free and pretty safe, I saw plenty of families here that brought their young kids and it wasn't too scary that they were freaking out. But overall everyone was having fun. The DJ and host did an awesome job in music and information. It was super fun and felt really safe in too!

There were cool screenings of horror movies, starting with "Prince of Darkness" on Oct. 5th., showed at one of the locations where it was shot, a fun Block Party on Saturday, Oct. 27th, a haunted tour of the area and there will be a Trick or Treat on 31st. It's a great idea, the area comes to life during this time, there are many activities for the season. People who come here like to dress up anyways, so the Block Party was a fun event to people watch, many cool costumes around, a beer garden, food trucks, DJ, various vendors. It started at 6 pm and went to midnight. The city that never sleeps.... A very cool way to have a Halloween party, I wish they had more acts on the stage, but the Haunted Little Tokyo is a great idea. And it can get spooky...

Great food from many popular restaurant, many of the restaurant owner and head chef were in present. Some of the dish were creative and very tasty. This event is definite someone a must to do if you want to go best tasting that LA has offering. Unlike most tasting the line is actually not too bad especially in the barger hanger. A lot of server take your plate away and also some seating. Wish there was more seating area in the disney hall area and would have been great if they provided a big plate so it make easy to carry the food around. When we entered at 6:30 (an hour early for VIP), the place was somehow already crowded?? Minutes later, it was hard to even walk inside the hangar. We were shoulder to shoulder with people. Luckily we got to sample most foods. The food selection was great. Plenty of wine tastings and other drink options. The issue was not the food. The problem was how incredibly crowded it was. Around 7:30 when it was time for the general admission entry, I thought there's no way they could fit anymore people in here. Then it became SO CROWDED that you literally could NOT WALK or get to anything! People were bumping into each other trying to get anywhere. It just became an extremely stressful experience trying to get to anything, so we just left. I just want to say shame on LA Food and Wine for overselling and cramming as many people in like a SARDINE CAN! This used to be a wonderful event and I was so excited to finally be able to attend again, only to be disappointed. THIS WAS A FIRE HAZARD! There's no way that many people in that hangar was safe in any way.

The people…read morewho were out there on the track were all so much fun to watch groove together, and the intricate designs of their costumes were really impressive. Also, you should know before you go that it can be challenging to find the correct entrance to the event depending on what exit you take off the freeway. But the directions on the website for Electric Mile are actually really helpful if you follow them thoroughly. The drive went by so quickly -- one minute you're pulling in, and the next you're sailing through the final tunnel of lights. It was 45 minutes long, which is definitely a decent amount of time but it just felt short because you were distracted by all the action! If you can, I would recommend buying a VIP ticket just because it let us skip the line, and we definitely would have missed our time slot (it was a busy Friday night) since we weren't expecting the line to be so long! We also got a fun goodie box with fun items like diffraction glasses and candy. Also, I appreciate an impressive DJ, but I went to this event with my friends who are total Insomniac junkies -- seriously, they've attended every EDC, countdown, Escape -- any Insomniac event they can get tickets to -- and they LOVED this drive-thru, which proves that it's a worthwhile experience ;) I think it was definitely worth it for the price if you have 4-5 people in the car with you to split the cost. It's not something that takes up your entire evening, but it is a fun way to spend a night with some good music and a great light show performance. If I HAD to pick a favorite land, I'd have to say Beyond Wonderland or Escape, just because I really loved the lights and detail in the decorations in these lands. But it was fun to end the drive-thru experience by "driving through EDC," because it felt fitting.

With the pandemic still very much so at large, we are very limited to these types of experiences, but Insomniac was able to pull this off, while still keeping everyone safe. The only downfall (and quite big IMO), was the wait time to enter the first weekend. We waited over an hour to enter GA, and eventually was asked if we wanted to upgrade to VIP for $50. I wish we were asked this in the beginning, but I wonder if they've been able to fix this problem since then. Also, if anyone has attended this and knows the link to the official playlist on Spotify, please send it my way! I'd love to bookmark this entire playlist to listen in my car.
