    Fides Restoration - Owner, Chance.

Can't say enough good things about Fides Restoration! We had water damage to the floor of our Port…read moreSt Lucie home. Chance the owner was very timely, he assessed the damage, checked humidity levels, investigated the extent of mold, removed samples of the flooring material for further testing and coordinated with our insurance company on our behalf throughout the process. He and his team removed the old flooring and prepared the house for new floor installation. Chance also managed the sub-contractors during installation and final cleaning. In ancient Roman religion, Fides was the goddess of trust, faithfulness and good faith. Fides Restoration excels in each of those categories - a veteran owned company and a job well done! Thanks Chance!

His crew were also extremely good guys. Chance was always there to answer my text and or emails. However, the work itself was awful. Everything from the kitchen was suppose to be individually cleaned and placed into a box due to the toxicity of the fire smut. However everything was just tossed (literally) into boxes. Broken glassware among other things. Some items were just placed in random spots in the garage. I've been finding them for 4 months now. Nothing was cleaned well, most items still had the powder from the fire extinguisher. Staples were left in the wall, crown molding was damaged, paint was damaged from the tape used, and the adhesive was left on wall & floors. After everything was said and done, the toxicity test still showed an elevated level. All that being said, when I contacted a claim adjuster they said they heard of fides, and he does great work, just not for fires. Which was my experience.

Hillard Barry Construction - Exterior wall, approx 11x11 ft that took 5 months to complete

Work was always kept tidy and quality was always above expectations. I am a construction superintendent and have built all over the states. I have always given them the first call as I believe in the quality and integrity of a job goes well beyond the thrift or speed. a small but mighty company that gets it done right.

I signed the agreement in August, and when we closed on our house on October 14, 2020, I provided all the paperwork needed to apply for a permit. The permit was not submitted properly, had to be resubmitted, and the permit was finally approved on December 23, 2020. After this delay, you would think that the company would want to get the project done quickly. However, the wall was not completed until mid March 2021. The company put our small project on the back burner and it was clear that after numerous "no-show" work dates, that our project was not important. The company hires subcontractors to complete work and the company has little control over when people actually show up to get work done. This project should have been completed within 30 days of receiving permits, yet it was not a project that received the attention it deserved. I would not recommend this company because they cannot honor their commitments to homeowners with small projects.

Eco Restoration Disaster & Recovery - Fixing this tile was supposed to be included in the price to install the pocket door. Despite witnesses, Eco claims otherwise.

At this point in time, we've all most likely…read moreexperienced what could be considered narcissistic tactics, and they are found in the professional world just as often as personal worlds. And it usually begins with a fairy tale...in this case, two knights in shining armor. They started out GREAT. I thought I hit the jackpot upon our initial meeting. They showed up willing, ready, and eager to work. The duo was enthusiastic, and really went out of their way to ensure that the progress at my house, which had been stalled more than once due to toxic contractors and handymen. As time wore on, Eco and its managers (which I found out towards the end were not actually licensed in the state of Florida as they insinuated they were), abused the privilege of being hired by deflecting, lying, and price gauging. One of the partners has some of the worst communication skills in all my years of applying communications degree, yet has zero awareness. Rather than LISTEN to questions regarding the work or the rates, he took them as insults and became very defensive. They did not like having someone point out they that their company, while good, lacked serious professionalism. They bragged about 14 years in the industry yet couldn't provide proper invoices. When questioned about invoice contents, they not only grew angry and course, but they refused to complete work which had already been paid for (witnesses can attest). They bragged about the great work they did yet the very things I expressed concern about turned out to be the things they unsuccessfully completed. In fact, I just paid about $490 for two people to sand the mud that Brindin claimed he could handle but left countless obvious imperfections. Worse is that he edged out my long-time drywall guy AND even underbid his OWN FRIENDS. I've since learned that he's done this more than once. And then there's a $14,000 quote for a closet under the stairs. At that point, I just assumed that they were seeing what they could get away with since they didn't want me working with anyone else. They then chose to defame me by creating a smear campaign to other professionals in my area; they claim that I "owe them thousands of dollars," when literally every damn invoiced penny (even the ones that they refused to provide clarity on) was paid. They claim there are so many unpaid expenses yet every time money was due I paid. After these lies, they went on to tell other professionals not to work with me (this has been verified by three people so far). The girlfriend of one of the owners is the manager at my local hardware store, a place I can't even go into anymore for fear of running into these aggressors. The manager, fully aware that her boyfriend has lied and smeared, was present when the last job details were being hammered out and knows that they promised to include fixing the tile in my bathroom when installing a pocket door. She also seems to have no issue with the recent PA transplant treating members of her community (including herself-God the way he used to speak to her...) with such disregard and disrespect. These guys have purposely left my lights without function, they screwed up the TV console and refused to keep the promise to fix it. They place blame on anything and anyone but themselves. There are several concerns posed by these two, but the primary is that South Florida's toxic contractor culture really needs an overhaul. Too many out-of-state opportunists coming in to take advantage of good people, and these guys are no different. I finally realized that all of the excuses for why these guys didn't have reviews or a FL license were all lies. And I expect nothing less than for them to respond to this review with contempt, cruelty, and more lies. It does not surprise me that they are not the big company that they claim to aspire to be; they are too proud to acknowledge their shortcomings and too vindictive to apologize. One owner said to me early on, "I just want a chance!" in regards to his dreams and aspirations. Well, they had one, and they blew it. They lost their number one fan, and the compounded support of everyone I introduced them to, including my professional real estate colleagues. The difference between my "smear campaign" and theirs? Mine is rooted in truth, not slander. VERIFY LICENSES BEFORE HIRING. DEMAND REFERENCES. LESSON LEARNED.
