There was no expectation to even see any whales, because I know there are never guarantees with nature.. But it was a very special trip with our children and our neighbor from California who recently lost his spouse. I called after 10 AM when I saw there was a 1 PM opening for a private charter, Chad immediately called me back and even though it took me quite a while to rally the troops, he held this spot for us. He definitely went over and above. Then Captain Jesse I told him I'd write a Cell was the icing on the cake by his kindness, knowledge, excitement, and so much more. Oh, and by the way, we saw at least a dozen different whales. There was tail slapping breaching spy, hopping.... And since we were in a small boat, we were able to zip around to see everything. It is well worth the money to do this. Big boats are fine, but this was something that will be embedded in our hearts forever.

Captain Mike and…read moreFirst Mate Tammy were fantastic -- knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout the trip. We didn't end up catching anything ourselves (just a bit of bad luck), though we were over big schools of fish and saw several people nearby land some great catches. I even had one on the line that spit the hook as I was reeling in, nothing you can do about that. Catching or not, it was a gorgeous day cruising past the tip of Cape Cod, spotting seals and other marine life, and enjoying the salt air. The whole experience was relaxed, well-run, and a lot of fun. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Provincetown -- and hopefully we'll have better luck with the bites next time.

The company has been doing this for 50 year so the crew is actually super familiar with all of the different whales and can identify them by name! We didn't see a "full breach" where they jump out of the water, but we saw tons of surfacing to air, some hand stands and whale tails. Super cool! The ship itself was very clean and there was lots of space to move around and see the whales. We sat on the second deck and could go to side to side to see them. The captain does a good job or rotating the boat so everyone can see. The crew was so friendly and did a great job of informing everyone about the whales! Highly recommend this!!

Once we got out aways we saw a few whales. Then further out there was about 10 whales feeding and it was amazing to watch. I don't think this always happens on tours. Nico was quite accomodating about arrangements and answering questions. Our trip included fishing for bait, blue fish and an attempt at Striped Bass. He answered questions from teenagers and drove the boat fast and we even got a look at a large contingent of seals and a glimpse at some whales. We did make one large catch of a striped Bass and several of the blue fish which gave us enough for several meals (6 of the 7 of us went fishing). All the teenagers said they would be interested in doing this again with Nico in the future!

Ro and her mate Owen were so kind and gave us background on the area and then we had great conversation! Ro knew just where to take us to see a ton of seals too which was very cool, my fiancé had never seen them in the wild before and I personally have never seen that many up that close. It was absolutely awesome-the pictures didn't do it justice! Ro's dog, Spinnaker, joins as well and is so well behaved. My dog got along great with him too! I love that Ro includes your furry family member on her sail if you so choose. She has doggy life jackets of all sizes to keep them safe as well. If we're back in Provincetown I would 100% go again! We booked a Sunset Sail, which is a 1.5 hour trip around the bay, and we were glad to be joined by 2 other couples and 1 other pup! (If you're counting, that makes 8 humans and 3 dogs aboard!) You can also book a private trip, which is slightly more expensive of course. Captain Ro and Kaled were a great team and made us feel safe, comfortable, and welcomed. It was a beautiful day to sail (week before Labor Day weekend) and Captain Ro allowed us to climb onto the deck once we killed the engine and were out in the bay. These trips do not guarantee animal sightings but we did see a whole group of seals bobbing their heads out of the water watching us as we sailed on by, which was extremely endearing to see. FYI the crew provides life vests for the pups and you can bring whatever you want to eat/drink aboard to enjoy.

The only issue I had though was a HUGE problem for me. I needed to use the lavatories and ended up settling for the closes porta potty. I mean I've been camping, I've been to summer camp. I've seen worse. I mean the bathroom there is called "The Morgue." This was just wrong. No one had done maintenance on this facility, and it was a biohazard. Seriously, the person who is in charge of cleaning the area and maintaining this facility should be fired. I rarely say this, but I'm serious, someone could get very sick from walking into this space and touching anything. This was not ok in the least bit.

I've been coming up to P-town each year since I was a kid and this is a spot I love to visit each time. Before you get to the pier you have a good selection of places to grab a quick bite to eat. The ferry for Boston is at the end of the pier, but there are other spots along the way where you can catch boat or fishing trips. Some cute little shops also dot this pier, I picked up some adorable Cape Cod art prints for my wall. Be sure to look for the bench surrounded by the buoys, it's a nice place to get a photo. The pier is also a nice spot to take photos of the Pilgrim Monument. This is very close to Commercial Street, so it's worth taking 10 minutes to walk down the pier and soak up some New England vibes.

Our Sunset Tour was one of the favorite things we did while on the Cape. The history of both the…read moredunes themselves and the cabins used by writers, artists, and others were quite interesting, and our guide (whose name, sadly, this old brain cannot recall) did a fantastic job during the tour of highlighting the historic and scientific aspects of what we were seeing. We ended up watching a beautiful sunset on the beach, enjoying the beverages we brought along. Personally, I'd recommend doing the Suburbans over the Broncos. We were originally disappointed when we realized we had reserved the former, but having done the trip, I'm not seeing the value of paying so much more for basically the same tour. Definitely recommend!
