I love World Market and wish we still had one in FL! It was close to their closing time when we got here but we didn't realize that. We must have missed the 10 min heads up because all of a sudden they announced they were closed. My husband took a couple of things to the register to get rung up. There was an employee standing at the door who saw me taking pictures. She told me that they brought in some bottles of alcoholic beverages that they normally don't carry and had me follow her to where they were so that I could take pictures of them. We came back the next day just so I could finish looking around. They have so many cool things! (You can tell how much I enjoyed it from the many pictures that I took.) I have been thru alot of World Market stores here in the USA. This particular store stands out because first of all, employees are always taking care of the customers by providing them information and items available. They have organized areas of interest. I personally like the coffee/ tea and snacks area. I enjoy the many different things you may like that you haven't seen before. I've lived in the area and frequented this shopping center where Work Market is located for years. I noticed it a few weeks ago while shopping at a nearby store. I enjoy World market for the global variety of unique finds and affordable prices. The spices, pasta and sauces are a great find here. I dropped in for restocking a few snacks and my wine bar with old faithfuls. I excited to dry the jelly sake and looking forward to go back for more on my next visit. I will also be trying a blueberry pancake mix during my next breakfast I prepare. The staff here is pleasant and welcoming. Checking in while I was shopping and showing a genuine interest in me finding what I needed. At checkout I was offered to join the rewards program on site and use my 15% off. I'm probably at the Durham location at least once a month checking out their food items (especially the marked-down offerings in the back) and occasional other purchases like wine, home goods, kitchen goods, etc. They have a nice selection of foods from around the world, although we've noticed some of our favorite store brand products are no longer carried. We happened to be in this area and stopped in to use one of our discounts. They do keep you coming back if you sign up for Explorer Rewards. read more

I generally have been please with items I have bought here. I purchased a vegetable paella. When we cooked it, using only chicken broth, it had an overwhelming taste of chlorine. I brought the actual container with me to the store to show them it was inedible and the young clerk laughed and said, "We can't return something you cooked already." I explained, with all due respect, how would I taste it were it not cooked, and find it tasted like chlorine? They refused to provide even a store credit and Nicole was rude to boot. I am frugal so the prices are not their strong point at World Market. But the inventory is very different which makes finding a unique gift easy.You can go with soaps,candles it candy to keep from going broke . Some rec .include the nightwear because the naturally dyed cotton is so very very soft.A less expensive gift are their scented soaps and candles .They often have Clearance items in the ladies' clothing .There is a good variety of the bottled flavorings that coffee /tea shops use.There are 3varieties of coffee candies e.g. My Favorite item are the laser cut Mid-century Modern Holiday houses.They made the cut ( hee hee) to be rec.for Christmas decor in several magazines and they deserved it .Just go to EBay and see how much they are now being re-sold for . read more

I love this marketplace. Being an island girl, there is a wide variety of international selections. The prices for the items are a bit pricey, but as expected. I love the old school vibe and products. I haven't had a Chowards Violet mints in years... and the Big Hunk. They have a wide variety of hand-made furniture and jewelry (less than $10), cost is fairly decent. They have a great selection of wines and beer too. If you have never browsed this market, I highly recommend you check it out. They offer 15% discount when you first sign up for their loyalty program. World Market is a very cool store, they've got a little bit of everything. You probably get their flyers from time to time. They've got furniture (papasans, desks, tables, chairs), home decor, wines/beers, candies/snacks, tabletop goods and more. Everything's pretty much sourced from around the world so you'll find stuff there that you can't find elsewhere. Their wine area is decent with good prices. I like the place, it's an interesting stop compared to the normal blah goods you'll find in a typical store. I've bought a couple of pieces of furniture from them and it's all been pretty solidly constructed and easy to put together. The people who work there are really helpful and patient with my attempts to cram over-sized boxes into my vehicle. Definitely stop on by if you need stuff for your apartment or condo and you're into more eclectic, international decor. read more

I'm a fan and a regular here. Love the huge selection of goodies, and if you've even been to a Cost Plus World Market, you won't be disappointed with this one. I think one of the best deals I got here was a 7-foot long wooden bench (outdoor) that is beautiful. It was one of those must-go sales (nothing wrong with it), and I got it for a song. They lose a star and can gain it back if they can do something about the very lonnnnng lines. Yes, this is during COVID, but the lines were long pre-COVID, and it's not anything better. The cashiers are pretty slow, and they spend way too much time wrapping up things that don't need to be wrapped. I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't need a bottle of soda that I'll be drinking when I get in my car wrapped. It seems like such a waste, too. I would think a separated container like a six-pack holder would be less waste than all that paper. Anyway, still love the store. read more

Well, if you want to go spend a lot of money, be verbally attacked and insulted by employees- enter at your own risk. Assistant Manager Chris- is confused about her job (thinks she should get to have long conversations and avoid work while on the clock) talks to friends for 15 minutes ignoring the long line of people that started to LEAVE, due to being ignored. After asking for some help- and being snapped at (I guess she cannot be bothered by customers) the then register attendant said how old are you- 12!? Umm what? They're a mess. If you want to be around highly aggressive and uneducated people go there. I personally did not find it safe and would strongly recommend against. There's obviously something strange going on with the people they hire- AND retain- why is that? When people continue to have negative experiences with unprofessional workers- they get to stick around.. It's not hard to find so many other places with decent customer service. I will be returning all items from there. Keep it up World Market- words getting around about the Cary store's management (see other reviews!) and I get a very bad feeling with the behavior of multiple people- they're literally one outrageous incident away from a lawsuit. When your the one calm around workers and management that can't keep themselves professional- it's not a good situation. read more

Cheaper than on Amazon and they had several kinds, including a Glenfiddich one with whiskey. I wish they would have some free samples of snacks. I had to go to Trader Joe's for that lol. I'm a big fan of World Market, because of their cool and unique selection of goods and food. Also, they regularly have sales on specific categories of items (usually furnishings, alcohol and customized 6-packs of beer) or coupons that give me an excuse to come back and look around some more. The wine selection is also a great balance between value and quality. Many of the wines are labeled with awards that they have received from wine competitions, and yet are in the range of $8-15. Even without coupons, World Market's prices are incredibly reasonable, and I would go as far as to say cheap too. This particular location is also very convenient, since it is in the Crossroads shopping area with a bunch of other familiar stores, big box chains and restaurants. read more

World Market, as a whole, is great. This location, however, is terrible. We wanted to buy couch, so we called ahead to ask if it was in stock. They said yes. We drove from North Raleigh over there to inspect and presumably purchase. We arrived, and no price was on the couch. We knew a deal was going on, so we asked one of the gals on the floor. She said she'd find out, and to wait. 10 minutes later, we're still waiting. I go to the front to ask what's going on. The woman who said she'd help us was with another customer, so I asked someone else who told me that no one could help me at that moment. I looked at the other woman, and without hesitation, she walked away. We waited longer, and longer. Since we wanted the couch, we waited. Finally, after 30 minutes, I went to the back area where employees are, and found them sitting around. I demanded they tell me the price which they reluctantly did. Of course, they were out of stock. I was furious, called another location, and bought the couch. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK! read more

I love world market! But this location needs help. Firstly, it seems to be on the small side so the store is cramped. It can be suffocating in there and doesn't seem to have as much inventory as other WM locations. But the main issue is customer service/management. I've gone to WM because of the one day only sales going on. On numerous ocassions I've gone there and not only are the sale signs not put up but the items are not put out! I've had to ask the female manager about the sale and she has no clue what I'm talking about. I have to show her the email. Um, aren't you the manager? Shouldn't you know the sales? I had to wait for her to go through boxes to find the items. Just today I went because of a one day only sale and no sale signs were put out. Overall, the staff is nice but some are clueless, including the female manager. I've had to get transactions fixed a lot and I think it's because the newer staff aren't being properly trained. Great experience with repeated visits to this location. Helpful employees who go one step beyond to assist, whether with purchasing or with Tetris-ing items into the car. The manager, Chris (sp?), is fantastic. She works fast and loud and gets it done. She's also aware of people spending money in the store and tried to help it by reminding you about couponing opportunities. Great service also from Nate, Jordan, and Scott. I will keep going there. I love World Market in general, but the customer service at this store sucks. My first experience was last year. I had a very large piece of furniture delivered that was defective. This piece of furniture was a large metal cabinet that easily weighed over 100lbs. The hinges were defective so I couldn't hang the doors. I stopped into the store to ask them what to do about it and they basically told me they couldn't help me. At all. Thanks for not helping me with a paice of furniture I bought IN YOUR STORE. I ended up contacting the online customer service number and they were very friendly and assisted me in returning the cabinet to the North Raleigh location where everyone was friendly. My second bad experience just occurred. I ordered $130 worth of picture frames online to be picked up the Cary location. They left me a voicemail last night at 8pm saying one frame wasn't in stock but they had all the rest of the order prepared, could I please call to confirm before they completed it. They close at 9pm so I didn't have much chance to call back last night. This morning I had an appointment for a wedding dress fitting and a Mary Kay party to attend at a friends house. I needed to pick something up near the store so I figured I just stop in in the afternoon to deal with. I got an email at 3pm saying they had already cancelled my order. They couldn't even give me 24hrs to call? If you look at their hours of service, they really only have me a 6 hour block of time to call in. I find this ridiculous. I just replaced the order online. I'd rather pay shipping than deal with the awful customer service at this store. read more

World Market is one of my favorite chains, but this is the worst branch I've been to. The wine department was a disaster. I specifically went this particular weekend for a wine sale, and many of the wines were not marked with a price tag anywhere, which was very frustrating. It took me a while to find someone to help me, and when I finally did, all he could say was that the store knew about the problem and that the beverage specialist or whoever was supposed to be taking care of it wasn't doing their job. So basically the employee threw his coworker under the bus and didn't help me at all. I just avoided putting any of the wines without prices in my cart and continued to browse the wines. Some of the shelves were completely blocked with boxes, and there was a layer of dust over all the bottles. I have never seen that much dust in a retail store or a wine shop before. I will not return to this branch. read more
