If I could give this particular store negative 5 stars for their customer service, I would. I had an awful experience tonight with one of the sales associates (the manager was out). Another customer was being verbally abusive - cursing at me, calling me an idiot, a liar, insulting my looks and making a racist political statement. He was upset because he felt my mother and I were taking too long at the register. The sales associate then comes over and instead of addressing the man's abusive behavior or opening another register to stop the man from continuing to spew his abuse, she tells me I am making a scene, throws insults at myself and the man and raises her voice at me. I was so hurt and upset by her actions I ended up not making my purchase. I will never again shop at this particular store again. Also, I won't publicly name the sales associate in my review. However, if management is reading this, the sales associate was not at the register, she was on the floor and this occurred on Friday, April 26th at 7pm. read more

Horrible customer service. I JUST left this store Online store hours says store closes at 7pm, I get to the store at 6:04pm and walk past a worker outside and enter the store. The same worker approaches my family and I, very rude, that we must leave the store because they close at 6pm. I respond by saying that we only wanted to take a quick look at couches (as I was already doing) and she proceeds to fuss at me that we must leave the store because they close at 6pm and the door was closed (if it was closed how did it get inside). She then gets the attention of an older lady with short blonde hair and she was just as rude even after I explained that we were already here. Yal, I left that store and the lady (heavy set white lady with dark hair) kept arguing with me and shut that door in my face almost hitting me. I walked back to my car and it was only 6:09pm. Completely inappropriate interaction with customer and around other customers (who were still in the store shopping!) I will not be retuning and urge management to train their employees appropriately. Poor customer service!!!!! read more

Horrible store. I used to love shopping at the world market, but now it's become horrendous. I walked into the store and wasn't greeted by anyone. The cashier on duty just looked at me and said nothing. I walked around a bit and saw online that they had some new Japanese snacks and I wanted to ask an employee, but there was no one in sight. The floor was gross and dirty like nobody has cleaned in days. I'm frustrated and aggravated to see one of my favorite stores going down the drain. Finally, I see this short Hispanic elderly woman and ask her about the new products I saw online. She rolls her eyes and starts barking at me about how they don't have it. She then walks away and I hear her call me the "b-word" under my breath. Disgusting customer service. Never coming back. read more

This is a wonderful place to shop for imported goodies and they have an excellent selection of wines. A fun place to browse as well....... And all of that goes right down the crapper at checkout. Management of inventory? Nailed it. But management of paying customers? Appalling. A line that stretches from checkout to midway through the store and only two poor gals check us out. One employee wanders through the long line of customers who are already not very pleased to be in such a long line, and asks if anyone wants to purchase memberships. Memberships? Seriously? Will it get me through the line any faster? No? You mean I pay for membership and still spend the last 30-45 minutes of every visit here taking one half-step forward every 4 minutes? Marvelous! Where do I sign? While the two cashiers get overwhelmed, one employee stands at a counter perusing inventory. Another gabs casually with a customer. They obviously know each other. Aww, that's nice. Another sweeps a floor that's already clean. I'm sure the warehouse portion of the store is whirring with activity and running like fine clockwork. The one area that needs the most help and is the most neglected is checkout. However, rest assured the floors are spotless and the inventory is scrupulously looked after. The front end is an afterthought, as if the intention all along was just to make the displays look pleasant to look at. The concept of actual purchases though seems to take this store by surprise and they have few resources to handle transactions efficiently. I'm still in line as I complete this review, and as I look back at the line whose ending I can't make out, I see a long row of hapless customers like me who have realized only too late that they should've gone online instead. If you shop in-store, make it your only outing for the day. read more

Such a cool place to browse around. There are furniture, dishware, to alcohol. I guess you can categorize this store as having an eclectic collection of items from various places (as I am told). There are indeed neat stuff here. For instance, I saw soy sauce packets in plastic fish-shaped containers. I believe you can sign up for their free membership card so that you are eligible for their members only sale prices, but I am unfamiliar with this store as I came here with the date. Their prices were pretty cheap, well, on some of the furniture pieces we looked at. Overall a neat little place to check out. read more

I hate Cost Plus, said no one EVER! LOL!!! I love this store and never realized there was one in Buford. I've been going to the perimeter location for years, but this might be my new spot. I've bought all kinds of good stuff at World Market ranging from furniture to food. They have all these cool snacks and wine. You can find dishes and utensils for sushi night at home, or some random piece of art. The staff is always willing to help and the store is so clean and organized. Sometimes I'm so relaxed that I take up space in one of the chairs and chat up my friends. It probably annoys the heck out of people, but I can't help it because it's so comfy in there. If you haven't ventured into one of their locations, you're missing out. read more

Cost Plus World Market is a cool little gem located in the plaza to the right of Costco in Buford. You can find many different items here from all over. They even provide a good wine selection, however, you will average about $3+ more per bottle than if you go to package stores, etc. Other good little items include candies from day's gone by. I can't say that the prices are cheap here.. yet the only one reason I love this place is because they have the Bundaberg Australian Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic beverage) and it's the best.. the only down-side of this is that they only sell it in packs. I was hoping they'd sell singular ones as well but sadly they don't. Nonetheless, I still buy my ginger beer here! They also sell cherry and apple flavored giant gummy bears. Never had one. I'm a fan of Cost Plus World Markets. Although they tout themselves as furniture / home goods stores, they're so much more. Cost Plus World Markets has gifts, a large selection of imported foods (mostly snacks, spices, coffees, and the like), a giant wine selection, tables, chairs, lamps, tchotchkes, dinner ware, glass ware, cutlery, cups, kitchen ware, a small variety of books, gift wrap, etc. The best way to describe a World Market is a cornucopia of stuff. You want a table from Africa? Aisle 3. Imported German chocolates and Japanese soda? Aisles 2 and 4. An egg ring for those perfectly fried eggs? Aisle 7. Literally. Prices for most everything are very reasonable. Another reason that I'm a fan especially if I'm looking for small thank you gifts or other more unique item. Surprisingly, there aren't that many Cost Plus World Markets around even though they have such a plethora of unusual knick knacks and foods for sale. But when I find one or two, I know I've got my last minute gifts covered. Good stuff World Market - keep it coming. read more

Ive always eyed some items on their website but i made it a task to go there on Sunday and filled my cart with the Guinness fruit pudding, and some wine bottles. Got to the counter and no alcholol until after 12.30. I went to some other stores, home then went right back because i needed the Cat Riesling and other wine. Went ahead and picked some market classic soups, napkins with cool sayings and other things the 2nd trip. Also saw a light fixture i might end up getting. All in all, great store! read more

I really like the World Market chain and this location doesn't disappoint. It's got a ton of unique items for the home, wines, and festive snacks. It's really the perfect place to get a gift for that person who has everything. They have free coffee and tea samples in the back of the store. They also have a rewards membership that allows you to take advantage of discounts. The staff is friendly and the line tends to move pretty quickly. Their furniture is beautiful. I came to this store with high expectations, because a coworker had been hyping it up. And I am kinda picky, So keep this in mind. This store is mostly a hodgepodge of over priced merchandise you can get at any pier 1 or arts and craft store cheaper. A perfect example of this product I found "designer paper napkins $3.99" Most of the candy in the back you can find at Kroger and Walmart. Honestly, I was expecting imported Finnish candy after all it is a "world market". They offer 2 prices one for regular customers and another for members which honestly is it that different in price. The accent chairs and bamboo utensils were probably the most unique thing about the store, but still overpriced. I wasn't welcomed in. I saw no employees on the floor. I most likely will not return because I can find most of this stuff elsewhere. read more

Even if I come just to browse, I never leave empty-handed. Location is convenient, near the mall and tons of other stores. Staff is friendly and I am usually greeted right away or approached by associates offering help. Selection is wide and there is nearly always something new with the amount of seasonal merchandise they carry. Really the only downside to this store is the amount of money I can spend here! I had purchased a few items on April 3, and per the receipt, I knew that I had 60 days to return them to the store for a full refund. Without the receipt, I would only be eligible for a store credit. I visit the store on June 3 and the cashier says that I'm too late for a full refund. Me: But it said that I had 60 days. Eva: I guess yesterday June 2 was the last day. Me: Can I do a return with no receipt then. Eva: No. I stood there with a blank look on my face until another cashier stepped in and gave me a full receipt. The other cashier (perhaps a manager?) did say that she wasn't sure why the register wasn't taking my return with receipt before. But I was terribly irritated that the cashier Eva didn't have a clue that I was telling her that I was willing to take a store credit. Smh. Terrible common sense makes for terrible customer service. After the return, I turn around and purchase a bar cart from Eva. When I decided to pull around to load it, Eva stood by here register doing nothing as I pulled up to the front door (next to the sign that stated Curbside pickup!). I had to park my car, get out, go back into the store and load my own items as she stood there and watched. This was in the middle of the day on a Thursday. No line. No other customers. No customer service. I WILL NOT be returning. read more

The worst customer service experience I've received at any World Market. I bought $300 worth of shelf brackets online and 4 of them the wrong size. Went to exchange 4 of them out with the correct size and the cashier Bridgette was baffled and appalled when I asked to just swap them out. You purchased these online that has to be handle separately then a store purchase. Which from a store standpoint, as a business owner of a retail and online shop, I understand there is a difference internally. However, the customer should not be made to feel as if they purchased from 2 different entities, when its the same company. Bridgette was rude, unaccomodating and annoyed that I was asking her to do this. You don't want this refund on the card you used online???? Was what she kept asking me. Uhmm, no, I want to exchange it for the same style brackets, same price, same company. I then had to ask her, if I didnt bring in a receipt would she of just given me a store credit and then this exchange transaction would have been seamless. She was like I can give you store credit! Well why didn't we just do this from the beginning. WM, you have to do better with training your staff - in a world of online shoppers, be accomodating when your customers come in store so that they will want to come back!!! Not a good in store experience at all. Store manager seemed to be real nice however, seen him interact with other customers. read more

I love going to this store. Everyone is very friendly here minus the night time manager. I thought it was just a one time bad experience with him but that wasn't the case. Went in a second time in the evening because that's the only time I have available to stop by, but no the same evening manager was rude. I was trying to do a simple return and in the middle of explaining my situation, he just rudely said "stop, just stop" and grabbed my receipt. I felt as if I was being talked to like a child. I was planning on sticking around after my return to shop but he left me in a bad mood. I went back the next morning and the morning shift manager was way more pleasant. read more

I have recently discovered World Market and it's loveliness. I hadn't been in here in years until I remembered they sold wine/beer. I was trying to think of a place around Buford, other than the grocery store, that sold wine and bingo! World Market popped into my head. The first wine I had here really wasn't all that great - but it was a Malbec and it's not my favorite anyway. So I came back this weekend and bought a really nice 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon by Castle Rock Winery. It was delicious and at a great 'members' price! They have a members card you can sign up for - for free. This will definitely the place I buy my wine from now on :) Not to mention the cute/unique decor for your home! read more

This place has a super friendly staff who are usually around to answer a question or help you in any way you may need help. The have a great selection of unusual gourmet food items. A very nice selection of beer & wine. A great selection of kitchen & bar ware items. They also have nice furniture. I like that you can always find something that seems truly unique here. I also absolutely love the Halloween related things they sell in October. If you are going to shop here more often than very rarely I strongly suggest signing up for their world explorers club for discounts and updates on whats on sale. I couldn't wait to get home to write a review about the awesome experience my husband and I had at World Market. It all started when I ordered a few items online to be picked up at the Buford location. FYI These few items were not small items, it was a mini sofa, a desk, and a large bookcase. When my husband showed up to WM, he was approach by an employee who offered to help load the items into his jeep (yeah sure that's the right thing to do.) But this gentleman by the name of Roy Becker went above and beyond to make the furniture fit into his jeep. And did I mention it was 92 degrees out! What made it a great experience was that Roy took the time to care for the items by suggesting different ways to load the items to make it work. After my husband came home, he shared his experience with me and raved about the great customer service he received. The next day my husband and I decided to go to WM to look around for more items to complete my office. Roy immediately recognized my husband and came by to introduce himself to me. I mentioned to Roy that I saw an item online and it was not available for purchase in store, but saw the item on display. Roy took the initiative to find out from management if I could purchase the item. The manager was accommodating and made sure we left with the item. Roy also helped me locate a few other items on my wish list, and I left WM with more than what I came for. I could not be more satisfied with the level of service Roy provided. He is a true gem at WM, and I hope he is recognized for the high quality of customer service he provides daily. We will be back to shop at WM because of Roy Becker. read more

I love this place. I'm a member of their world market explorer club and shop the sales. I get great coupons emailed to me (like $10 off a $30 purchase), free coffee and a gift certificate on my birthday. They have a great selection of gourmet coffee, beer, wine, gourmet food, unusual snacks, kitchen and household goods. They have unusual & cool things all year, like mead or honey wine in the winter and day of the dead & Halloween stuff in the fall. so this store is right around the corner from my apartment but I didn't go until a friend from out of town took me there. this is a great place to buy gifts and plan a delicious dinner. they have home decorations, jewelry, candles, dinnerware, food, and drinks from all over the world. if you live by the dekalb farmers market then you are lucky and don't have to worry about searching for fun dinner ideas. but up here in buford the options are far and few. the world market has a good selection of traditional spices and foods to make a delicious meal. and if you are looking for an interesting gift for a friend, you will definitely find something here. read more
