Great location that has everything I need! The staff is friendly and I love the cardio theater.

It really sucks that this gym closed. All the other options in this area are horrible. One of the gyms is near a sanitation dump and nauseating to breathe the air and the nearby planet fitness is filthy and packed. This was the only real gym in the area. I now need to invest in gym equipment to workout at home. Hopefully another viable gym will go into the World Gym space. read more

Same complaints previously expressed in post below (operations manager promised to find a solution.. and we determined that was a lie) RED FLAG There was no one in office for my sister and I to sign up. A complete waste of time. We weren't allowed to tour the facility nor able to inquire about prices. The front desk staff Kaywon was nice and pleasant but had no information to give. I feel bad for the position you've guys placed him in. I was looking for a new gym and came in to World Gym to see if I could workout, understand membership prices or to even check out the facilities and was told by the front desk associate that the sales manager wasn't in so even if I wanted to sign up i couldn't because the sales rep wasn't in yet today (its almost 11 am) and there was nothing the front desk associate could do....imagine calling yourself having a business and turning people away because you don't have people who can provide basic services/information for people who are willing to spend smh don't waste your gas trying to come workout over here read more

Its an older gym but its not a bad gym. They offer personal training, I believe the first session is free. There is child care as well which is pretty cool for parents. There are quite a few of separate work out rooms for classes like yoga, cardio and then rooms for HIIT training, Boxing, and even a movie - cardio room. The movie cardio room plays movies and its mostly dark and you can just cardio out while a movie plays on the big screen. There is a nice sauna in the locker room as well. Theres some equipment that some other gyms may not have and then some of the equipment is older and can be updated but overall the equipment does work and is very useful. The staff is friendly and welcoming. read more

I absolutely love this gym! I go every morning before work (which is around 5:30am) and every time I walk in the door there is someone there to welcome me and says good morning with a smile! the gym has everything you could ever imagine and the staff is great! I highly recommend! read more

I called to ask how much a day pass was and they said "they couldn't tell me on the phone" so I drove there and waited 15 mins until someone who worked there finally showed up and explained a day pass was $20 cash or $22 card. Guess we know why they wouldn't say over the phone ( to surcharge card payments). Naturally I said oh never mind and upon leaving asked how much a membership was and the worker said "no clue". Gym looked super cool and if the monthly fee isn't too expensive it's probably a great gym unfortunately nobody there knew the price so I left. The gym has everything anyone can want from a gym. A cardio studio, that plays movies all day in a theatre setting. A designated boxing area and designated functional area. In addition to regular gym things. The gym would be a solid 4 1/2 stars before the pandemic. Now I'll have to take off a few stars for safety. Smyrna put in place a mask mandate and this gym doesn't enforce it. I'll be working out and here comes an anti mask nazi next to me huffing and puffing with no mask on. Sad thing is, I had my wife sign up when the ordinance came into place. Because gym life in Smyrna seemed safe again. To bad she's uneasy on going because it's not enforced. I've seen people walk the whole gym with no mask on, and then throw a mask on walking out the door. Huuuuh???? Anyway, if they enforce that mandate, it would be the best gym in town. read more

Im seeing a lot of people reviewing a gym poorly because "masks are not enforced" and I'm sorry but wearing a mask while exercising is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of and if you give this place a bad rating because of that, then you don't know enough about health and wellness. As a long time member of this gym, I'm very disappointed in the office staff customer service. Definitely not the friendly nature of the staff from the past. There are certain individuals (Tom, Jay) that have a rude, unwelcoming, cold disposition. I realize I have choice to continue to patronize this facility but ownership needs to know that customer service is below standards. read more

First let me start off by disclosing that I am one of the trainers at World Gym in Smyrna, an independent contractor. While the gym was closed during the lockdown, I was fortunate enough to still have access the gym on a fairly regular basis. I was there on average 5-6 days a week. The entire time I was in and out of the gym I witnessed the whole staff sanitize the place from literally top to bottom. Every piece of equipment was meticulously wiped down multiple times before opening. They cleaned out each activity room including the cafe and cleaned all surfaces, bikes, mats, shared equipment, floors, everything. Resealed all the floors, professional carpet cleaning, scrubbed each sauna, all bathrooms and showers. It was actually quite impressive. Before reopening we had a full staff meeting to discuss our new guidelines along with sharing any tips that may have not been mentioned, the goal was to get it right. The gym refused to open until we had ample sanitary supplies to last months, not weeks. From temperature checks to signing in now with limited at one time capacity, safety glass between the customer, sales reps and front desk associates. I honestly feel extremely safe training my clients and exercising at the World Gym daily. But it doesn't stop at the work everyone did before opening. Everyday throughout each day, the staff is walking around sanitizing surfaces with gloves and masks on. You could probably take a trip over to the World Gym at this very moment and find a staff member cleaning. There are plenty of wipes, hand sanitizer and professionally cleaned towels for members to utilize at all times. As for the equipment, we have everything. A room for HIIT training complete with pull-up rigs and monkey bars, spin classes (starting again soon), cardio classes, all free weights, cables, kettlebells and even a sled (25 meter turf). If you can't find what you're looking for here then chances are you may have in fact been born yesterday. As someone who takes his health very seriously, I cannot endorse the World Gym enough. My hat is off to the entire staff for their response to this whole pandemic. Truly amazing all and thank you for making it safe for us! read more

After going to this gym for the past 3 years, I'm sad to have to leave it for a smaller and more crowded ITP gym. Clean, tons of cardio equipment, plenty of weight machines and free weights. The trainers will kick your butt (as hard as you ask them to) and the staff is friendly. As a bonus, Amanda might even talk you up when you bring in that cute new person you're dating (thaaaannnk youuuu). I'll miss this gym and all the familiar faces! read more

World gym is a smaller less crowded gym than some of the other gyms in my area, but I will never use them again. I tried to renew my membership with them and they want to increase my rate from $35 a month to $47 a month even after one of their sales staff stated that the rate would not change. Now why would I pay more for a gym that does not have a pool, has not made any real changes to its classes over the past year, and whose management staff is not willing to help out the customer. So buyer beware if they quote you a price get it in writing because they will not honor anything else. read more

I miss my membership at World Gym, but since I'm no longer living close to Smyrna I had to drop it. It was one of the friendliest and cleanest gyms I've ever been in. Thinking once I move back to Smyrna I'll get another membership here. World Gym kicks ass compared to other gyms like that one named after that city in California. It is not only staffed with friendly staff and trainers, but it also offers a great selection of fitness equipment with no line to wait in to use. Sure they don't have a pool, a tennis court, hot tub, or racket ball court, but they make up for all that with the awesome cardio theater that has a different movie playing daily. The classes at World Gym are first class. All taught by spectacular trainers that are certified and not there to hit on patrons or get their workout on like at other places. I particularly am fond of the Tread N' Tone class taught by Jen, she will wear your butt out! read more

I have been a loyal member for 5+ years. In this time, I have yet to see an investment in new/upgraded cardio equipment. The gym and equipment are old, constantly out of order, filthy and falling apart. There are basic pieces of cardio equipment; however, any of the pieces that offer a bit of variety are either out of order or have a line of people waiting to use them because there is only 1 to choose from (i.e. rower, inclined elliptical, inner/outer thigh trainer). The one inclined elliptical doesn't even work properly- incline "says" 20 but in reality only goes to ~6ish & shuts off if you switch from forward to backward. I selected this gym due to location but if you can afford a few extra minutes it's worth going to Planet Fitness down the road. Plus the weekend hours are terrible! On an extra note, when I provided this feedback (while yes it is negative and not easy to hear) they elected to cancel my membership without ever speaking to me live. They "said" they tried to call me; however, that never happened. I provided my correct number in case that was the issue and never heard from them - they just cancelled my membership. Goes to show you the level of customer service and investment they put in you as a member. Don't waste your time or money! read more

I've been going to this gym off and on for a decade. The last two years, almost daily. I've tried other gyms except the super duper fancy ones because who can afford those except super duper fancy people? I prefer World Gym because it's clean and doesn't stink. Yes, that's extremely important. I'm not terrified to use the restroom or go into the sauna. I can comfortably take a shower without staring at someone's clump of hair. And the restroom floor isn't wet. I mostly frequent the free weights and elliptical. But they just built this jungle gym style ninja aka crossfit type equipment that I may utilize. The staff is very friendly. It's been the same people forever! Bring your own towel because it's $2 to use one of theirs. I could buy a smoothie with $2. I wish they had a pool. I've wished this for years. And yes, some of the cardio equipment is dated but it still works and important parts are replaced. Another lat pulldown machine wouldn't hurt, though! Most of the gym goers are there to workout so it doesn't feel like a meat market like another gym I've experienced. Not a lot of bells and whistles but provides a good workout. read more

I have been a member for two years and just started performance training with Mike V. He is the best trainer I have had. Mike is professional, thorough and knows how to make an exercise more beneficial. I look forward to sessions and after 5 weeks know I am getting more fit. I have been a member of World Gym going on 10 years now and it is a great gym, excellent machines and free weights with plenty of cardio machines. They even have a boxing room with heavy bags to workout on. I like that they have kettle bell weights also, just could use some more. I recently started working out with one of their trainers Michael V. and he is awesome, I have gained more knowledge of my workouts and muscles with him then any physical therapist I have worked with in the past. I truly enjoy our workouts together and can feel the difference in all the things I do outside of the gym. I highly recommend him as your trainer. As for the staff, they are great. Always cleaning and sterilizing the equipment as people finish working out, and they are always friendly and nice To everyone. My only recommendation would be some newer equipment in the deadlift area, would be nice to have some hexagon bars for deadlifting. read more

I have been a member for two+ years and World Gym has all the standard strength and cardio equipment you would expect in a commercial gym. They could use more rowers (only 1), matching kettlebell sets (hodgepodge collection of various singles), and an assault bike or two, however, overall solid options for anything you would want to do in a gym. I recently started training with Michael V. He is hands down one of the most knowledgeable trainers I have worked with in over 20 years. After being physically beaten up from my training routine I needed some outside guidance. Michael's programming has restored my love for training, my body feels healthier and stronger than ever, and I am constantly seeing body composition and performance gains. He has a great mix of "bro-science" and "real science" to help optimize your training plan. Not only do I feel AND perform better than I have in the last 10 years, but Michael has opened my eyes and educated me as to what it means to train intelligently and with purpose. His programming was customized, results driven, and most importantly, demonstrated that he listened to me. read more

I love this place and couldn't imagine working out anywhere else! The staff is super friendly and very helpful. Plus it is much cleaner then most of the other clubs in the area... I love the cardio theatre and the wide variety of classes. They just don't seem anything like the other clubs I've joined before. I actually feel like I matter here! After my workout, I stop in their cafe to get a shake or a bite to eat. It is really awesome that they have healthy, freshly made food to choose from after a workout. World Gym Smyrna does not care about its members. I have been a member 5+ years and they have invested $0 into improving the experience for it's members who pay $50/month. L.A. Fitness charges 40% less and continues to upgrade and improve their facilities. The only thing this gym has going for it is the location as there are no other gyms in the area. Improvements that need to be made. 1. WIFI Service - The staff has been saying for months they are working on getting WIFI. STILL NOTHING and this is a dead-zone for cell service. 2. Cold water stations - They refuse to fix the 2 water fountains and it only supplies warm water. 3. Equipment Upgrades - Some cardio equipment has been out of order for 6+ months. 4. TVs - Most of the TVs in the facility are very old box TVs and are not viewable. The TVs on the cardio equipment do not even work. 5. Gym accessories - They do not have enough handles/bars. I am sure the gym was great 10+ years ago when it first opened but it is obvious the owner has no interest in providing a positive gym experience. Members are dropping like flies and if another gym opens in the area World Gym will not be able to maintain membership numbers. read more

It is 1 line hidden away in the 3 page membership application. I cancelled my membership in person at the gym. They put in writing that my last draft would be September 7th, 2010. Well, on October 7th, 2010 I was drafted again. I called them and they told me the original last draft date was a mistake and they would not honor their mistake even know it was in writing. World Gym is a less busy, upscale gym in Vinings located across from Publix. While World Gym does not have some of the features of other local gyms such as a track, a pool, hot tub, or full size basketball court, the actual gym blows all the others away. Here is why: - Clean! There are wipes dispensers all over the gym. As a result, all the equipment is super clean (unlike LA Fitness that does not even have any disinfectant to use.) - Movie Theater! They have a room that is nearly pitch black with a huge screen and about 50 pieces of cardio equipment. They have different movies everyday. It is so relaxing! - The equipment is in really good shape. So much better and newer then other local gyms such as Bally's. - Unlike the nearby LA Fitness, the gym is not completely overrun with people. - A better assortment of machines for those that are not professional lifters. Other gym highlights include day care, a full set of free classes, a Yoga room, boxing room, small basketball court, and sauna. read more

One of my favorite Mommies lives in Smyrna, and she often invites my single, in-town living, hungry self for dinner and a work out. She just joined World Gym, so we headed up there to catch up; she hearing all about boy drama and single-hood, me hearing all about playdates and kids. World Gym is just about everything you'd want in a gym, and if I lived closer I'd become a member. Guests can workout for free, they have a cardio movie theater (!!) and tons of machienes with TV's attached. We went at 8 and it wasn't even crowded. I can see why my pal is able to get in two 75-minute workouts each day. If you live in Smyrna, keep your new years resolution and join World Gym! read more

I've been a member here for 6 or 7 years and it has consistently gotten worse and worse. The absentee owner is too cheap to fix things until enough members have complained. They scale has been broken for 3 months now and still not replaced. They did finally bring a hone bathroom scale out of the women's locker room, which I assume cost about $35. It has become one of the filthiest gyms I've ever been to in over 35 years and has only gotten much worse during Covid. The staff is very nice but their hands are tied with what they're allowed to do. I'm certain the mirrors in the men's locker rooms haven't been cleaned in a year, and with Covid, they simply tried to make the members the cleaning crew. While you're asked to wipe down the areas of each machine that you touch, no one actually cleans the machine frame or weights. They're now caked in at least 1/4 of matted dust and are disgusting. Half the lights in the locker room are out (I assume intentionally, so you don't see how filthy it is) and the cardio equipment now looks like it belongs in a warehouse clearance sale. While it does have a lot of equipment, it's so far from a $39 a month gym in value. Cheap owners equal cheap gym experiences. read more

Trying to cancel my membership feels like I am working with used car salesmen. During Covid they refused to cancel my membership that was month to month over the phone. After a couple of requests and explaining that I have a compromised immune system and I am not comfortable going in with Covid, they told me the manager allowed me to cancel. They are still charging me months later. They continued to charge all their clients while they were closed during Covid. These people are blood sucking pigs. This gym is dirty and nasty. The gym is conveniently located in Smyrna and the members are actually really great. The issue is the management of the club. The staff isn't as knowledgable as you would expect and it appears the owner is only concerned about turning over memberships as the equipment and facility could use some serious upgrades. There's a bit of basic equipment that is missing from this gym. We are about to enter 2020 and World Gym is outfitted as if it were 1999. There are many rules in this club that are nonsensical and improper utilization of space is a major issue. No deadlifting in a room that is perfect for deadlifting is by far the most egregious one. I read one of the answers posted by the owner to this very same complaint by another member and her response "There are other areas to utilize those muscles" is a clear indication of a lack of understanding about space efficiency. I would like to see more appropriate trainers as well. I have been a member for a couple of years and the members do talk to one another. Chief complaints are better upgraded equipment and more of selection in the personal training department. World Gym should poll its members and find out what the members want, not what the owner thinks they want. Always comes down to money of course and cheap is cheap. read more

I had the same experience as Danielle D below. They won't let you cancel your membership! It's a scam. I both called (left a voicemail) and emailed this gym to cancel my membership during the covid shutdown when it was impossible to visit in person. No one ever called me back. They have now sent my account to a collections agency. Very, very poor management practices and customer service. And I went by today to dispute the charges, and they are shut down for covid again! Total scam. I have left another voicemail, but I will involve a lawyer if I can't get a call back. read more

Need a high end lifestyle gym with pools, jacuzzis, tennis courts, steam rooms and what not then this is definitely not for you. But if you are like the majority and tied up in today's always on the run life and don't want to spend half a day at the gym but want all that is needed to either to workout then this is your place. Two levels, with lower level boosting free weights and all kinds of gym machines while the upper level holds cardio equipment. Nice surprise you don't get most else where; a movie theater cardio room where you can watch a movie while being on the treadmill, elliptical or the bicycle. That's if there isn't a class in session. Cons; locker rooms aren't too fancy and there aren't any toiletries provided. It isn't 24 hours and Fridays it closes at 8. read more

Please Do not join this Gym, the equipment here is seriously outdated!! When visiting my sister back in 08', she was a current member at the time and invited me to go w/her on a Guest pass. The gym was nice and well kept, fast forward today and the Gym looks the exact same with the exception being it's unkempt and the same equipment is being used from 2008. The only difference that I've noticed is the Basketball court has been removed. It's really sad because the is location is in a well to do area that caters to a lot of Professionals.That being the case one would think they would do their due diligence in keeping this place up after 12 years. Simply put...You get what you pay for. Membership is ~$45, but it's soooo worth it! I've been a member since April '13. I have only been in the gym at 6-7am and 8-11pm on weekdays and all times on weekends. They do get pretty busy on Saturday/Sunday around 8-10am. Even in their busy times, I've never had to wait to use a piece of equipment. Here are the things I really love about this gym, besides the friendly staff and clean atmosphere: - Cardio Theater (stationary bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and BIG OLE FANS!) - Plenty of dumbbells (weights as low as 2lbs and as high as 150?) - Quality equipment (Hammer Strength, Life Fitness) - Awesome classes with really motivated instructors - Machines, sometimes 2 of the same machine read more

I just joined World Gym at the end of 2010 and I have to say that I really enjoy working out here. It is not too big, not too small and everyone is super friendly. You can always find a machine to use, unlike some other gigantic chain gyms in the area where you have to wait 15 minutes or more. They have a great class schedule and the trainers (although I do not use one) seem popular. You do have to sign a membership contract, but I found it to be pretty standard and nothing out of the ordinary. BUYER BEWARE !!! You can join, but never cancel.I was a member of this gym for 5 years and cancelled my membership in person at their front desk in March 2019. They continued to bill my account until my credit card expired (shame on me for not checking my statements). Fast forward to may 2020 when I get a call from a collection agency for membership fees on an account I cancelled well over a year ago. I contacted the club and because they can't locate the cancellation form that their staff took from me, they will not remove the charges from the collection agency. Now, they have collected my fees for 9 months AFTER I cancelled my account and have a collection agency threatening to ruin my credit score over an account that has been closed for 14 months. HIGHLY UNETHICAL BUSINESS. They also confirmed I have not stepped foot on their property since the day I cancelled 14 months ago. read more

The gym is great but their policies are a scam! They have policies that do not allow you to cancel the membership for up to 3 months from joining. I was moving out of the city but they still did not make any adjustments. I moved out on November 5th but they kept charging me until January 25th. I will not recommend this gym to anyone. read more

Great gym that keeps the rift raft out. Most the members are very respectful, clean up after themselves and not a meat market. No punks or thugs in there to be an annoyance, nor break into your locker! Employees are super nice, and after 2 years...never had a billing problem!
