If you know what you are doing at a gym and have your own plan, this location is probably good for you. There is a lot of parking and its easy to get to. The waste bins are sometimes overflowing despite a lot of people working there but otherwise things are fairly clean. Do not....I repeat....do not....invest in their LifeChanger analysis or personal training. My "LifeChanger" analysis was actually point blank wrong in several spots, which I pointed out and they did nothing to address it. They have a "special scale" that measures body fat, weight and more and it was off by over 10lbs (even against other scales in their change rooms). The report is designed to make you feel negative about your health, regardless of your fitness regime coming in. I think it's a tool they use to further push their personal training. And let's talk about that. I bought a three session intro package. I am not new to working out and I was clear on what I was looking for out of the package. My trainer, while friendly, was clearly being driven by some sort of corporate sale mandate. When I politely declined to purchase more sessions giving my exact reasons as to why, he kept spewing sales pitches at me. To the point of being offensive and discouraging. Basically I wasn't committed to my health unless I spent thousands a year on their packages. Because people aren't successful if they work out on their own? Seriously. I did learn a couple of good exercises from the trainer but it certainly didn't offset the bad feelings and pushiness I encountered. I know it wasn't the trainer - he was just doing what was corporately expected of him. I brought my concerns to GoodLife and was told I'd receive a call. That hasn't happened yet. Fitness is and health important and they way they treated me as a new member makes me sad for people who might be discouraged and disheartened by their tactics and stop trying to better themselves. I can handle a sales pitch - they just need to know when to back off and not affect the existing business relationship

Strangely, there are no reviews for this Goodlife location, and only one review for the city…read more Typically, chain-gyms can attract a lot of attention on review sites. That being said, if you are interested in shopping around for a club, and are considering Goodlife, Google for all the information you can and make an informed decision. I can only review what I have personally experienced. Pros and Cons I'll start with the good: This is a modern location featuring top of the line, new equipment. There is an emphasis on keeping the equipment in top shape, and I've noted this location just replaced all the bikes for its spinning classes. This is a nice touch - many gyms take in the 2nd or 3rd hand gear offloaded from clubs like this one. Some older gear isn't even ergonomically correct, and can lead to serious injury. Example: the old school Smith Machine. Sadly, that equipment typically ends up being used somewhere. Physically, the floor space of this gym is quite large, and includes a daycare, a smoothie bar, and dedicated personal training & women's only sections. During the core hours, fitness class schedules are running pretty much around the clock, with the usual range of strength/cardio/stretching. The gym is not typically that busy in the later evenings, and this location is now open 24 hours a day (Mon-Friday) to further ease the load. That's great for shift-workers or those who want to go for a jog at 2AM (?). Monthly pricing was pretty competitive when I joined, and did play a factor in my decision at the time. Generally speaking, the physical location & space, equipment, and services, all cover my basic requirements. Gym-time isn't a social event for me. I simply want to go work out, then get out. This place serves its purpose. Now the negatives: 1) Contracts. Goodlife still has them. Generically speaking, I have decided that, going forward, I will no longer sign a contract with a gym. Month to month, or prepaying a set period--such as 3 months--works for me. To me, contracts are a pretty questionable requirement. Not everyone's life is 100% consistent year by year. Lost your job? Found a better gym? Need to relocate? If you DO need to break one, you can expect anything from additional fees, to phone calls from a collections agency. That means negative online feedback, and I can't see that being worth it from any gym's perspective. Instead, I would much rather a gym focus entirely on keeping the customer happy from one month to the next, so they never want to leave (unless life dictates it). 2) Second: payment options. I was told I could only do automatic withdrawals from my checking account. Many people do not approve of this practice, so it can be make or break for some. Personally, I have not had any issues, so I'll restrain myself, but it's a topic you can spend some more time Googling on to get up to speed. Its important to understand what early termination means for contracts as well as personal training plans that you agreed to, then bailed out of. 3) Pricing is reasonable, but they would definitely love to sell additional services like personal training/fitness classes. This is where the real margins are. Some gyms will bundle some of these services with your base fees, so ensure you are comparing apples to apples. 4) Finally, the evenings could use more "maintenance staff" at times. In Summary: many physical positives about this place. Contracts and payment methods knock off a couple of stars, but I'd have no issue adding them back on IF these two things were corrected.

His gym is private so you will never have to be sharing equipment or rubbing shoulders with other people you don't know. It's just you and him in a gym focused on your workout. If you want to get serious about getting fit call Colin and show up, take that first step and he will keep you going until you hit that goal. I 100% recommend this trainer.

Every time you step in to the gym at this location, one of the trainers will greet you. Every single time. They make you feel comfortable and like you belong there. If you're looking to join a community made up of competent and caring individuals committed to your health, go here. The morning crowd (both trainers and gym-goers alike) is exceptionally enthusiastic and pumped! Which is helpful at 6am on a Monday morning.

I am beyond impressed with this place!…read more I moved to Calgary from Vancouver looking for a gym with flexible hours. This place offers 24hr FITNESS and TANNING. It is staffed during the day and early evenings which means you can make an appointment with a trainer, or have questions answered. Rob, the owner, is AMAZING. He really makes an effort to get to know all of the members, and is incredible at building rapport. ALL business owners could learn from him! Also, the staff is incredible. All very friendly and nonjudgmental, ready to answer questions pertaining to health at anytime. The other patrons of the gym are also very friendly. Ages range from late teens to early 70s- I never feel out of place or uncomfortable. This gym offers a variety of cardio equipment (you NEVER have to wait for a machine), has a weight circuit, a large free weight area, and a mid-size 'studio' area. Also, for those who tan, it offers one tanning bed which is NEW and LARGE. I work shift work and tend to be a night owl, sometimes THE ONLY time I have to get a work out/tan in is at 3am- this place TOTALLY meet my needs. For UNLIMITED tanning and Gym access I pay around $63.00, without the tanning it would be about $18 less- VERY REASONABLE. Also, they offer month to month plans so you don't have to sign a contract if it's not for you. I urge anyone who is considering joining a gym in the SW to stop in and take a look around, if you awesome fitness amenities don't win you over the friendly staff totally will.

Every gym employs these same sales tactics so, at this point it's nothing new. And besides, if you didn't have someone telling you to get your butt to the gym you probably wouldn't go to start with. My story: I have a triple curve scoliosis in my spine. I've been living with back pain my whole adult life and it was starting to make me very miserable, chronic pain all the time. After chatting about this with my sales consultant they recommended Josh Deck as my personal trainer to address this issue and also my weight loss goals albeit they're the lesser of the two issues. I will say this, the small price I've paid to see him 12 times has resolved my daily back pain 100%. He's got me working hard but also being realistic about what I can manage in my day to day life and routine. It's been so helpful in fact I'm going to keep training with him for as long as I can. I cant say enough great things about Josh as a trainer but I am a special case, training may not be useful for everyone but certainly useful if you've got goals, timelines or a special case injury. The facility: has everything you need and the group classes are included in your very basic monthly membership and they have a very rich schedule to suit everyone's needs. Things are clean and there is always a cardio machine even at 5PM! ALSO - If you have kids, they have a day care facility right in the gym for a tiny little $4 fee for 2 hours. I came to this same Worldhealth in 2005 and left because at the time it was very male centric and desperately needed renos. Which now, the renos are great, layout is functional, they replace broken things quickly, change rooms are nice and honestly the staff know my name and are super helpful and friendly to me all the time. The price is competitive. The location is easy to get to. Free no hassle parking. All girls room which is nice for those awkward times. The demographic is also completely mixed in age, gender and body types. I'm happy and would recommend it to friends for sure :)

Please stay far FAR away from this gym…read more they have super deceptive business practices especially against young adults that will lock you into contracts and coaching you do NOT need. I had no idea what i was getting into years ago when i signed up for this gym, i thought i was getting a good deal on coaching and the place looks nice, but the payments will drown you. If you ever think about canceling, good luck. They will only freeze your account, and force you to pay the full years long term + some extra hidden fees. Save yourself the stress and go to literally any other gym in Calgary, hands down this is the worst one I've ever went to throughout my whole life.
