There is so much that can be said about Master Chong's TKD that I doubt I can fit it all here. I have the unique perspective of both being a student there myself, and being the parent of a special needs student there. In my own experience, I have found it to be a welcoming school that both adheres to traditional TKD training and technique with Masters from Korea with a bit of modern training techniques thrown in. The school is like one large family, with many smaller families built in (others in your belt level, those who go to the same classes as you, etc). These 'families' are very supportive of you both inside and outside of class, and I have personally found them to be a source of great strength when needed. As a parent, the flexibility of which classes we chose to go to is a huge bonus. Also, it is clear that the instructors are trained to deal with young children and all the challenges that presents. Having a child with special needs, I was particularly impressed with the way that my five year old is interacted with. His needs are known to the Masters and instructors, and they deal with him in such a way that you would never know that he has any extra issues. I can see a change in him, even after the first few weeks (now being a year into it), in his behaviors. He learned respectful behaviors, waiting his turn, focus, balance and strength. When I had mentioned his attendance to TKD to his providers, they thought it was a perfect compliment to his occupational therapy. Even his providers saw a change in him once he started. He made friends quickly, and enjoys classes so much he wants his birthday party there! The entire school system that comprises Master Chong's TKD is amazing, with regular events (tournaments, kicking for miracles, the picnic) that brings all the students together, traditional techniques and promoting, affiliation with Kukkiwon and WTF, and a strong youth program that is lead by properly trained instructors. My son had never expressed any interest in Martial Arts. When he was in fourth grade, Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do offered an introductory program through his phys ed class and he signed up for the after school program. We were pleasantly surprised that he enjoyed it. We thought that the end of the few week program at his elementary school would be the end of it. After visiting the school for the "graduation" of the school program, we quickly found out why he liked it so much. From our first visit to each time we walk through the door of the school, we are treated with respect and kindness. The school and all of its instructors truly live the philosophy of Tae Kwon Do. The school is a busy place, however the students are never overlooked or left behind. There is ample staff to ensure student progress at their own speed. There are opportunities for students to challenge themselves in tournaments and festivals in which they work to their personal best against competitors from all five schools. Also, if students show superior skills, they could be invited to be part of the demonstration team or ATU team. The school's three Masters are professionals at the top of their art and have a passion for bringing Tae Kwon Do to the community, My son had excelled through the black belt program and is now an instructor all at the age of 14. This was a goal of his since he was a lower belt. He has worked through the levels and continues his training without complaint or ever wanting to skip class. This is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and expertise the Masters and instructors bring to their students every class. Joining the TKD family has been one of the best decisions we have made for our son. The program has fostered the qualities of respect, focus, self reliance and positive attitude in our son. I have two daughters, 12 and 15 who are part of Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do. They have been part of this program for 7 and 11 years respectively. Both of my girls are now 2nd degree black belts and are planning to continue for as long as they can. Being part of this program for quite a number of years, I can say for myself and my kids that we have enjoyed it very much. I have seen them grew to be confident, strong, and responsible young ladies. It boosted their self-esteem and has taught them discipline and respect, among other valuable daily life skills. Over the years, I've watched them reach a high level of maturity. Their ability to comprehend and perform the difficult skills they are taught is astounding and surprises me even till this day. I never get tired of watching my kids, hours on end as they practice their Tae Kwon Do moves. We are truly proud to be part of Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do. The staff is very respectful and attentive to the students as well as to the parents. They are always greeting everyone with warm, genuine smiles and consistently show their strong passion to teach the students. There are about six main events every year, where all five schools of Master Chong's come together and perform. The energy in the environment is always positive and full of good humor. My kids are part of other sports too and I can definitely say that Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do has provided the best environment and experience for my kids. When my son turned 5, I was determined to find the best martial art school for him. After visiting a few schools in this area, there was no doubt that Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do was the best choice--for its perfect combination of the professional and compassionate Korean masters + the amazing and caring instructors/staff + organized comprehensive curriculum + beautiful facility! I started my three kids in the Little Tigers program two years ago after a friend recommended Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do and recently joined myself this summer. The trial introduction program allowed us to learn about the school, instructors, and culture before enrolling. From a parent perspective, we were impressed with the instructors' engagement with each student and their ability to push individual students to their own personal best effort in addition to the school's culture of positive encouragement and respect. The kids enjoy the activity and exercise while gaining respect and confidence, learning goal setting and achievement, and building strength, agility and balance. I enjoy the fun but challenging exercise in a supportive and social environment and option to workout with other adults in adult classes, or spending time with my kids in the family classes. Bottom line is that it is a good, fun, social workout led by world class Tae Kwon Do athletes that I can also enjoy with my family and challenges each of us physically and mentally. read more

We have been with Master Chongs Tae Kwon Do for over a year now. We take as a family and absolutely love it there. There faculty and staff are very professional and highly skilled. We are always treated like family. They go above and beyond for ALL of their students. They make classes fun for everyone. There birthday parties are the Best!!! We wouldn't go any where else. This has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. It's not only for kids!! My husband and I love going. They offer adult classes, family classes, even sparring. We participate in all they have to offer. Through out the year they do exta activities from their summer picnic, Kicking for Miracle's (where we raise money for Women and Childrens hospital), a Halloween Party, Mom and me class for Mother's day. Dad and me class for father's day. They truly love what they do and it shows in every class. They have made this so much more than just a class to go to. This is a great family oriented facility. I highly recommend this amazing place for your child. My son started about three months ago and he has thrived. His confidence has sky rocketed and I love how they focus on each child's personal best. Every single master and younger assistant instructors is phenomenal. They only use positive reinforcement and encouragement. They have high energy and clearly love what they do. They are the most organized sport place for kids I've ever seen and every kid gets some individual attention at every single class. They know how to work well with all sorts of kids from the most rambunctious to the shyest of children and everywhere in between. My son loves the structure and meeting his goals with hard work and effort. I love the life lessons they are teaching in addition to the exercise he gets and the fun he has. He is learning patience, dedication and perseverance and he feels so much better about himself and his own abilities. His body control has improved tremendously. Mastar Chong taekwondo is very good, peoples are good and nice. however they don't focus on improvements of specific candidates. from last 3 years my kid is going here but did not see any appreciation from the center. It might be the case that my kid is not expert in the skills but then they might have given feedback on the areas of improvement OR they would have suggested me to discontinue him if he is not able to achieve/expert in at least a single skill in 3 years. Even if he is average candidate, center should have appreciated him once in a while (by giving some medals or something) so that my kid will feel good and try to improve and will be happy to come to the class. Is center focusing only on money that they are gaining from me ? It is humble request to "Master Chong's World class taekwondo" that please consider this review in positive way. Thanks read more

The best school around! I started training with Master Chong's World Class Tae Kwon Do since my early teens and it was clearly the best decision that I have ever made. My life was completely changed for the better. The training is by far top notch and first class! The Masters and staff are VERY educated and dedicated to what they do. They see the best in each and every student all while having so much patience, respect and enthusiasm for all. Not to mention that while learning the atmosphere is very fun, positive, comfortable and encouraging. They do a great deal for the community as well. Each class leaves me feeling very good. I started in August and I am very happy that I did. The classes are very balanced and the movement makes a lot of kinesthetic sense. The teachers have a great approach which allows the student to discover how to become a great Tae Kwon Do practitioner on their own and in their own time, while at the same time encouraging students to reach farther every class. The school has a great program for children, but also focuses on adults as well. There is room for every body type and age at this school. Everyone is encouraged to participate and be a member of the community which is created at the school. I feel appreciated as an individual here and I feel happy to be a part of this school. About 5 years ago, even though my wife and I had absolutely NO clue about martial arts of any sort, we decided to visit Master Chong's World Class TKD on Transit Rd in East Amherst and see what it might have to offer our daughters, Grace & Kate. We could never have imagined where that first visit would eventually lead. Master Chong's is a retreat from the helter-skelter of today's society. Families are immersed in an environment of positive energy, focus, discipline, respect, confidence, and kindness, with the staff at Master Chong's leading and teaching these principles by example. Our son enjoys his visits to Master Chong's TKD. It has taught him to focus, listen to instructions and pay attention to his coaches. In addition to learning martial arts, discipline, good behavior and respect are taught while having fun at this center. We celebrated his 7th birthday party at the center. Instructors had meticulously organized age-appropriate activities for him and his friends. I enrolled my 4 year old son here in December and I am extremely happy that I did. My son can get very shy and since starting at Master Chong's his confidence has soared. He also struggled with his focus when he first started and the instructors were patient, while being firm with him and he is starting to understand how to be respectful, focused, and work hard. These skills are also showing up at home and at his school. He is listening and behaving better. The instructors are friendly, helpful, and sincere.
