I had an appointment nearby and figured I would make a day of it and work out of this location and walk around during my breaks... But an hour into being in this space I felt like I had had enough. I'm thankful that this isn't my home location. Vibe: Front desk wasn't super welcoming, even though I had shared it was my first time visiting. The shared spaces were all on one level, kitchen and then another room next to it with very little options for seating. The chairs weren't very comfortable. Because it was a small space, and I don't even recall seeing phone booths, I could hearing everything going on around me. Parking: This was a challenge. But maybe someone more familiar with the area would have an easier time finding parking. I found a parking garage a couple of blocks away.

After leaving my practice in Michigan behind to set down roots in the Bay Area, it was challenging…read moreto find an office space that was affordable and flexible. I only practice therapy part-time, so renting an office on my own was not affordable, and sublets typically offered very limited (and often less desirable) days/hours of availability. Sima Space has struck a new model that strikes the balance of affordability and flexibility. I have been able to build my practice up one client at a time without incurring an outrageous overhead while my caseload was small. As my practice has grown, I have benefited from the incremental discounts built into my contract, which incentivize using the office more hours each month. I have saved a lot of money in the months I've been at Sima Space. Besides the rent-by-hour model, I have benefited greatly from having the option to see clients in any of the three locations they have in San Francisco (Nob Hill), Berkeley (Downtown), or Oakland (Pill Hill). I have enjoyed using the Berkeley office as my primary location, but have been able to build in a day of seeing clients in San Francisco when I'm there for other meetings anyway. My personal experience working with Sima and Sayed has also been a delight. It is clear from talking to either of them that they truly care about creating an environment that supports therapists in their healing practices. They have been warm, responsive, and flexible throughout my time with them, which makes all the rest of the experience all the better. I would highly recommend Sima Space to therapists starting their practice, and to established therapists looking for a flexible part-time office environment.

There are the standard floating and dedicated desks, conference & telephone rooms, but then there is also a yoga room and a meditation room. These are sometimes also used for group meetings or phone calls. I like to do laps in the yoga room while taking phone calls to get more walking in during the day. There are weekly yoga classes, posture, and mindfulness and I've even been to a community pizza party which was super tasty. There's also coffee, tea, fresh fruit and sometimes specialty water/tea/juice served in the coffee/copier/mail room. The only downside is that the hours are 6AM - 9PM so if you're looking for a place with 24/7 access, this isn't the spot for you.

We had just under 50 people (about 1/3 kids ages 5-18) and there was room for adults to dance and kids to run around. They also allowed the use of two conference rooms which was perfect for people who wanted to be part of the party but needed somewhere a little more quiet. It's also helpful to have things like tables and chairs there already and the kitchen area is a big plus. We brought in a DJ and our own food. Cameron from the Temescal works team stayed throughout the event and was so awesome making sure people got into the space ok and that everything was all good. The booking process was also really easy. I was able to complete it mostly via email and it wasn't a ton of back and forth. They also helped me with getting event insurance and provided a list of caterers, rental agencies, etc. I kind of want to have every party here from here on out! At the very least, I'll probably stop by for coworking in the future.
