This place is awesome. Me and a bestie went this evening for the "Beginner's Watercolor: Night Sky, Galaxy, And Deep Space" class. Neither of us had much experience with watercolors, but the instructor, Becca, gave a quick introduction to color theory and demo of the basic techniques before turning us loose to begin creating our own. It was super fun experimenting with different color combos and methods for adding stars and sparkles. Two hours flew by fast, and the outcomes were beautiful. Great way to spend an evening with a good friend or on your own. I'll be back for sure!

Have taken 3 of Hayley's sewing classes so far, and I highly recommend if you're trying to learn! She's so helpful, and makes the class super fun, plus you get to make fun things to bring home. Definitely recommend the sewing bootcamp! I've learned so much, and now feel comfortable enough to explore making new things on my own.

    Wreath Season!

I am so happy to have found this place. A friend and I went to the wreath making class and it was a blast. Our instructor wasn't just knowledgeable but easy to understand. The class time was spot on for our project and you can BYOB. I am 100% going back.

This is one of my favorite spots in SF. I have been here a lot, including for first Friday (haven't been in 2023 yet because somehow I'm always traveling on the first), water marbling, leather making (wallets), and watercolor for beginning: Galaxy and night sky paint night (for my birthday). The last 3 were literally once a week for 3 weeks in a row. The formal classes are 2 hours, with about 45-60 min teaching followed by an hour of making our craft. I will say I wish we had more than an hour (or a bit shorter teaching). Regardless, all the instructors are absolutely amazing and I'm going to keep coming back

Workshop SF's sewing bootcamp 101 class is the best value for money class I've EVER taken in San Francisco. I learned so much and felt so accomplished by the end of the day with 4 pieces we created on the sewing machine. Hayley is an incredible teacher. I've already recommended the class to all of my friends. It's no wonder the class sells out so quickly every time!

Had a great watercolor class at workshop SF! Really cute studio space with a restroom, good quality supplies provided and a really fun and friendly instructor Becca. Would definitely recommend and will be back to try another class!

The full-day workshop has us learn multiple techniques--zipper installation, button, and drawstring.

I've taken 2 sewing workshops at Workshop SF and really enjoyed the course (clearly enough to take two). I feel like I've gained a life long hobby and useful skill. Haley, the instructor, is a pro-teacher. She's really attentive and skilled enough to quickly recognize where you've went astray. In addition, all of my classmates have been friendly and outgoing. I felt I had a lot of creative freedom in trying a different stitch pattern and there are many fun fabric choices. I'd definitely recommend trying out a course! I really enjoy using the tote bag I've made and I'm excited to tackle new projects (having recently purchased a sewing machine!).

    My project

Cute concept but when I heard how much it cost... I was a bit shocked! I got invited to a team bonding event here. We got to build a plant on a wood plank. We didn't get to pick the plant so I was stuck with a fern. I also felt super rushed when I was building my project. I didn't have super clear direction and was a bit disappointed on how my project came out. It isn't tilted upward like the instructor's. I like that I was able to pick a wood plank, but I wish we had time to stain it before working on the plant project. It would be more aesthetically pleasing to hang up in our homes. It would look more professional rather than a DIY rookie project. Now I have a greater respect for these items that I see at Anthropologie. I would gladly pay the price because at least their product is beautiful. Not so sure about my project?!? Perhaps I have to come back for another class, but if it costs more than me buying the project made already then I may not.

This place is only school SF without the price tag. The teachers, classes and attention to detail is unlike anything I've seen.

Work on 2 candles a class.

Say YES to WorkshopSF classes...CUSTOMIZE, CUSTOMIZE CUSTOMIZE!! I took the soy candle making class and yes it is the best intro class to the DIY. The class was great. The teacher really enjoyed her trade and made class FUN. The people that attend the workshop are great also. I did not think I would talk to anyone but I did. Fun is the only adjective that I will be submissive to in 2019. Thank you WorkshopSF. I will sign up for many more classes in the future. I will definitely take another soy candle making class again once mine burn out.

    Kokedama

Came here for a kokedama workshop. Upon entrance, the friendly instructor said that since the class was 21+, we could feel free to grab drinks at the store across from the workshop if was wanted . The vibes were clearly laid back and the whole crowd was friendly. We each created one small and one large kokedama, with an array of plants to choose from. The instructor gave clear instructions and offered plenty of help and guidance, as well as after care tips. I was pretty excited to take home my end product. Hopefully I can keep them alive...

    Beer Workshop by Chris
    Stefanie C.

I recently attended the legendary Beer Bootcamp, taught by Chris Cohen. And just when I thought I couldn't appreciate beer any more than I already do! The class involved learning about and sampling 12 different beers from around the world, though I think "sampling" is a huge understatement. Chris is insanely knowledgeable in everything there is to know about beer, from its history to its subtleties. I was surprised to discover that my favorite beer of the evening was NOT the IPA but instead the Hoegaarden Belgian Wit. All of the excitement over learning made three hours go by very fast. One piece of feedback that I have is that Chris is clearly qualified to teach this course but is also not much of a public speaker... which is totally fine because he's still personable, but allow me to suggest something like Toastmasters to take his audience engagement skills to the next level. I found it difficult to get through the first 15-20 minutes of Chris getting warmed up, but he found his rhythm eventually. Overall I had such a great time and would highly recommend this workshop to my fellow beer enthusiasts!

    Pie in a Jar class
    Maile N.

My friend Brenda and I have taken 3 classes at Workshop together, and we always have a blast! After the card screening class, we took Sewing 101 and learned how to set up a sewing machine to sew straight lines with varying designs, sewed beer koozies (can covers) and a sock doll - so fun and so cool! I don't have a sewing machine of my own just yet, but when I do at least I'll know the basics of how to use it, set it up, etc. One day, one daaaaay! And then we took the Pie in a Jar class this past Saturday - what a hoot! We had so much fun molding the dough into cool Mason jars with lids. They had 3 fillings ready for us (pecan, apple and strawberry/rhubarb). You fit crusts over the jars or add a crumble crust, put the lids back on, pack them up, put them in your fridge or freezer and bake them for an hour at 350 F at will. I can't wait to bake them up! It was so fun & I would highly recommend this class!

Completed 4 projects during the sewing bootcamp - tote bag, zipper pouch, drawstring pouch and beer koozie.

The best Escape room in San Francisco! So immersive and fun!…read moreWe took the family and everyone enjoyed it (although not the most interesting for very young kids). I'd say the Edison room is my favorite so far. The thoughtfulness in clues and gags are amazing!! You really get what you pay for here- it is expensive for what it is but the level of detail has far surpassed other escape rooms I've seen. A+ for the props department!

Very concerning experience…read more (Understandable) We visited Palace Games recently and were instructed by staff to place all personal belongings in a designated basket area before entering the game. The basket was located outside of the game room and remained out of our sight for the entire duration (~2 hours). (Incident) After the game, we discovered that a wallet valued at $1000+ (including cash and multiple cards such as ID and credit cards) was missing. Based on the noticeable weight difference before and after, we were able to reasonably determine that the item went missing during the game time. (Their Action) We requested assistance immediately and asked to review surveillance footage. Initially, we were told that the footage would need to be "retrieved through a third-party vendor" and that we would be contacted later -- however, no one followed up. The following day, after multiple attempts to reach them, we were informed that the "vendor was unavailable (PTO) "and the footage could not be accessed at this point. Later, a manager called and stated that there is no recording at all (⁉), only live monitoring on site. When we asked for confirmation of this and whether we could document the conversation, the call was abruptly ended Subsequent attempts to follow up have gone unanswered. Additionally, on the game day, we felt rushed to leave immediately after the game ended, even though our scheduled end time was 4:00 PM and it was only around 3:45 PM at that point. This made it more difficult to properly check our belongings around the game area. We followed all instructions provided by staff, yet there appears to be no secure storage, no accessible review process, and no clear accountability when something goes wrong. Their responses were inconsistent and changed over time. the incident has NOT yet been addressed at this point. We are sharing this experience for transparency regarding how personal belongings are handled and how incidents are addressed. Update: The owner has reached out to us, apologized, and showed us the available surveillance footage. The footage only covers the lobby and hallway areas and does not include the room where personal belongings are placed, so it was not possible to determine what happened. We appreciate the follow-up and the owner's sincere attitude. However, this situation highlights that the designated storage area for customer belongings currently has no surveillance coverage or secure storage. We hope additional measures (such as lockers or better monitoring) can be implemented in the future to prevent similar incidents. While we acknowledge their efforts to address the situation, we are keeping our original rating to reflect our experience.
