I'm a huge fan of Works Progress. I've been a member over the years, and I can't think of a better coworking space. Marnee, the owner, is super nice and really cares about the community. The other members are fantastic, friendly, and fabulous. It's an eclectic mix of businesses and freelancers -- not just tech startup people. Marnee also does a lot of community events including member lunches, happy hours and seasonal celebrations. Also lots of free parking - no need to deal with parking in downtown or SLU. read more

If you are a penny-pinching indie or soloprenuer Works Progress is the place to be! Let me just lay it out: 1) Parking is free and so much easier than any of the co-working places downtown. 2) There is an incredible DIVERSITY of people here from all sorts of backgrounds; if you aren't wanting to work exclusively in a tech bubble - this is the place to be! 3) Marnee (who captains the ship) is super friendly and engaging and has really created an excellent, welcoming community here. We have regular happy hours, member events, and there are plenty of opportunities to get to know your co-working neighbor. Alternatively, if you want to huddle behind a desk with your headphones in, you won't be harassed. 4) Rent's high and getting higher! A co-working space is the best way to utilize your business income to marketing and outreach rather than wasting it on hyper-inflated rents and painful long-term contracts. 5) A full kitchen means you don't have to eat out - unless you want to. Note - it's stocked for Happy Hour and also houses private conference rooms and a place to film video. I'm incredibly grateful for Marnee's creativity and initiative in getting Works Progress off the ground and running and keeping it going. I never expected my rent costs to *drop* over the years, but they have! If you are sick of sitting at home staring at the walls come in for a free day trial and meet the gang. WorksProgress is the best. I worked there regularly when I lived in Green Lake -- I'd still be working there if the commute from N. Beacon Hill to Greenwood were a touch shorter, but alas. As I've looked for coworking spaces nearby, I have to admit that I have yet to find one that provides more value than WorksProgress does -- you get a lot of bang for your buck there. Many of the features you will find at WorksProgress are what you'd expect from a coworking facility -- comfy, open space; speedy WiFi; sweet new kitchen; rooms for private calls or meetings; a handful of printers and scanners; etc. -- but what kept me coming back were the people I met there, the value of the services, and the great neighborhood. My company Roxy has been working at Works Progress for almost 2 years now, starting from renting 3 desks to 2 private offices. We love the owner Marnee and enjoy being in this community. 1. Everyone is helpful, even though everyone works for different companies. The types of ​businesses have a wide spectrum, and sometimes we find we are helping each other in business. For example, there are non-profit organizations, IT companies, lawyers and marketing people working under the same roof. 2. I appreciate the owner Marnee has created a unique vibe for this place.​ She is gracious, generous and nice, which influences how everyone works​ in this building. 3. The location of this place is superb. It is across the street from Fred Meyer, a great way to save money from buying expensive lunches. It is super close to USPS, which makes shipping and mailing very easy. (Plus, USPS in Greenwood has the best service) All hands down for this place. I work in this co-working space a year now and it has been great in every aspect. Marnee is so nice and positive and able to accommodate all your needs. I've been working at Works Progress for 3 years. It's a great, welcoming place to work - whether you come in for just a couple hours a week, or you lease a full time desk like it do. I appreciate the conference rooms, high-speed internet, and having a place to work outside my home. Marnee works hard to make this a place that is supportive and welcoming to telecommuters, small business owners, and those of us who just want to work around people. Works Progress is wonderful! I just moved to Seattle (Maple Leaf) this summer and it has been such a find. The space is warm and inviting with everything and more you might need. The big plus has been that there seems to be a real sense of community at the space, with lots of other working parents, and folks from all types of industries. It's been a great introduction to Seattle. I've gotten to know some great people in such a short amount of time. The organizers are lovely and accommodating. I love that they seem to go out of their way to add all the little touches that make your day better - GOOD coffee, ever changing snack selection, the adorable office dog, and as much (or as little) socialization as you want. And Mr. Gyros right around the corner. So happy to have found this place! read more

So happy I found this place! Here are some of the highlights: 1) Marnee (owner) and Candice (front desk) are genuine, sweet, and super helpful. You can tell they truly want to provide the best working space possible and foster a community at the same time. 2) The other people that work there are great - friendly, professional, and good respect for others. 3) Location- if you are in north Seattle, this is ideal. Plenty of parking, and Greenwood a lot to offer these days. I was looking at some spaces downtown but I am SO happy I ended up here. read more

My favorite co-working place in Seattle. It's shocking how many of them can't provide my 2 basic requirements: 1) Parking. I live 25 minutes from any public bus lines, so I really have to drive. 2) Enough phone booths and/or meeting rooms so that there's always one free. I do a lot of video meetings. Works Progress has plenty of parking, 2 meeting rooms, 2 phone booths, and other spots that can be used for a videoconference in a pinch (couch in the lobby). They are also a great deal (much cheaper than most others), and they're easy to get to (close to the I-5, not nearly as much traffic as anywhere downtown). And the Greenwood area actually has IMO better lunch options (good burrito place, Mr Gyros) then the places I previously worked at in Fremont and Ballard. Finally, the people who run Works Progress are genuinely nice, and the clientele are too. I don't want to hang out in a "startup incubator" atmosphere at the Hub, etc. I'm not trying to sharpen my elbows and expand my rolodex--I just want a mellow place to work, thank you very much :) The space is good--a mix of one newsroom-y cluster of desks, that has a busy work energy, and then one very spacious room with a large kitchen and a few work spaces that's usually almost empty. The contrast is really nice to have when you need a chance of pace. The meeting rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The give you free snacks! And you get your own coffee mug with your name printed on it on top of their cute logo after a year's membership. read more

I've been working here two days a week for a few months now, and I'm loving the flexibility and resources available. I'm a remote employee and I travel with some frequency for work, but it is nice to have an office space with phone/fax/reception, conference rooms, a kitchen, and other people to connect with personally and professionally when I'm in town. There are a great bunch of coworkers to chat and eat lunch with, which is a big improvement over the years I spend working at home all alone for many years before finding this place! I wish I had discovered coworking sooner. With that said, there is a real respect for professionalism and workplace etiquette here. There are conference rooms and a phone booth room for conference calls to help keep the noise level down to promote productivity. We are a mix of lawyers, non-profit workers, consultants, educators, students, and others who appreciate the company of colleagues. The two owners are friendly and bend over backwards to help out their clients. Whether you are a freelancer, independent business owner, or remote employee (like me), coworking at Works Progress is a great way to build community and increase productivity. The space is also for rent and they host some great events here like the Phinney Art Walk and members events like game nights. I live in the neighborhood and appreciate that I can walk to work, but there is parking and the location is on a couple of bus lines for days I need to come and go. It is also a highly walkable place, close to a post office, and lots of places to get lunch. Lastly, coworking is a more affordable option than renting a private office space, with the benefit of someone else coordinating the rent, phone, utilities, etc. plus the company of other friendly professionals! read more

I'm a member of a local meetup and we've had several events at Works Progress. I absolutely love the space, the members and the owners! While I haven't taken part in their coworking hours, the set-up looks good for individuals or teams. I really like the training/conference room, which easily accommodates large groups for presentations. There are a few parking spaces in the back alley, but mostly I've had to park either in Fred Meyer's across the street (shhhh, don't tell!) or in the neighborhood. I've never had to walk more than a block or two, and for Seattle, that's pretty good! I look forward to coming to many more events at Works Progress. :) read more

I went to Works Progress for an evening event a few months ago. The space is nice - very warm and open. It gets good light, and the hosts (Jessie and Marnee) were welcoming and accommodating. The night we were there, they had a full buffet and drinks in the kitchen. There were maybe 20 people in attendance, but there was room for many more. Something that's nice about it is that there are different areas, so people can collect by the couches or the tables or spread out all over. I would definitely use Works Progress for future events. read more
