ActivSpace uses horrible and unethical practices. During my time renting my space, they started out really great and I recommended them to others. However through 2025 they underwent a change in management. There were 2 different managers during that time who both were disrespectful and unethical, including coercion by withholding getting my deposit back and pressuring me to leave good public reviews when moving out of my space. There were other worse things that happened. Beware. read more

I've had a fantastic experience joining ActivSpace at the Zoo. The facility is well organized, neat and clean, easy access and has great spaces. The best part has been Nathan. For some reason, they fired the awesome property manager overnight and the place has gone to hell ever since. When I asked the owner why he was gone, she gave me some phony answer. Don't expect your deposit back. They raise prices anytime they want. Charge your deposit for things that happened before you moved in, and expect to pay at least $600 to have your room (repainted) when you move out. This place used to be good for artists. We have been a tenant at ActivSpace for a while now and I have nothing but positive things to say about the facility and its management team, specifically Adrian D. The building is always kept in pristine condition, with a focus on cleanliness and safety. Adrian D. is a fantastic manager who truly goes above and beyond to make sure all tenants feel welcome and supported. He has an impressive ability to effectively communicate important information to the community in a fun and creative way. In addition to his management skills, Adrian D. is also incredibly professional and kind, always making time to assist with any questions or concerns. As a renter it was okay, minus some regular roof leaks and flooding near one of the walls. Also had a back window busted out in my car once while parked here, kinda sucked. Two stars because I'm already in a deposit dispute and I'm not moved out. We're arguing about whether I'm responsible for pre-existing conditions. Essentially the lease has some vague language about the unit being perfect at move in, and pre-existing conditions not being a thing. Mine however had a random ventilation pipe through the roof and some finishing problems. Property manager then said it was all "fine" but current property manager might want to try to hold me liable for it despite having evidence it was how the unit was at move in, and despite knowing the prior property manager was aware and didn't see it as a problem. All of this would be clearly illegal under normal tenant laws, but might not apply here with it being a non-residential lease. read more

Right up until I finished my lease here, I'd have called this a four star experience. Not perfect, but pretty good. But like another reviewer here, I feel like they unethically robbed me of the majority of my deposit upon leaving. I had two spaces here, one large one where I worked from, and a tiny one where I kept a key that needed to be shared by a couple of people (long story short, there is a limit to the number of people who can use one space, and this was our work around). So here is the deal. If you rent from them, either don't plan to get your deposit back, especially on a smaller space, or plan to spend nearly as much as your deposit is worth to repaint all the walls and the floor upon move out. Now, that is *totally* reasonable if, during your stay, you mark up the walls and floor. But in the case of the small studio we rented, we literally walked in the room twice a week to grab a key. There is no way that we left a mark on the walls or floor. Nonetheless, ActivSpace decided that they had to completely repaint the walls and floors, and kept $250 of our $300 deposit. I never imagined that they'd run a scam like that, so I didn't take pictures of the pristine room or anything to prove them wrong, and it's not worth any more of my energy than posting this to warn others, but every time I drive past I feel mad at them. A shame since the rest of my two years were pretty good. So, like Sierra who wrote "They charged me 550 dollars for painting in a space that was hardly used and wasn't even given to me freshly painted. I had read reviews before and saw a lot of comments about people not receiving their deposits back and unfortunately I still rented from this place. This place is a rip off and I would never recommend it to anyone..." Consider yourself warned and informed. read more

Expect your deposit to be part of rent, because no matter what you do they will charge you to clean and repaint. Also it also is bad that the entire place smells of paint since people are always painting and repainting each time someone moves in and than moves out. Parking is also not great but not horrible. They do have an elevator, and bathrooms. If you need something really cheap, with less than desirable management I would look elsewhere. read more

This location ROCKS! I am coming up on my first year here at Activspace @ the zoo, and it went fast! My business has really taken off. The zoo and other amenities are within close walking distance. This location is easy to find, very affordable and overall a comfortable place to run your work from. Stuff gets fixed here quickly in the building as well. The manager, Kelsey Ryker, is friendly, knowledgeable and does a great job keeping us all in line here, ha! Highly recommended for small businesses. read more

I ran my business at this Activspace location for over five years. They have recently gone through a change of on site management and this review is about that. Fe is the new building manager and she is wonderful! She always responds quickly to my questions and requests, whether I pop by in person or send her an email. I just wrapped up 16 years at ActivSpace. It was a great hobby/work area. Nice neighbors... Nice Management team -- ask for Fe Young.

Activspace is a great concept for creative space, BUT-- Watch your lease agreements with these folks! They changed my rental agreement when I moved out, and charged me for doing repair work that was there when I moved in without any agreement beforehand. I would be cautious about their business policies and procedures. read more

I recently just rented a studio space at this facility for about 7 months. Besides the difficulty with contacting the management the space was perfect for what I needed and I was quite happy. Unfortunately due to my busy schedule I ended up not using it and decided to cut my losses and move out. I just received my security deposit and they gave me 91 dollars! A 600 dollar loss for a space that I used about 3 times. I expected some money to be taken out of my deposit, but almost the whole thing?! They charged me 550 dollars for painting in a space that was hardly used and wasn't even given to me freshly painted. I had read reviews before and saw a lot of comments about people not receiving their deposits back and unfortunately I still rented from this place. This place is a rip off and I would never recommend it to anyone. There might be people who had different experiences but if you don't want to risk losing your security deposit then don't ever rent from this place. I am very disappointed and can really only chalk this experience up to a complete loss. This place is advertised as an affordable space to let your creativity flow but instead it just rents out a square box to you and charges you thousands for it. I hope if you are considering renting from this facility that you really ask yourself if your willing to lose your deposit before signing an agreement. read more
