I've been involved in the fitness industry my entire life. In all that time, I have never had an experience remotely close to this one. I don't normally leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others--and I sincerely hope the owner takes the time to read this because what happened reflects very poorly on this business. I joined because I was explicitly told I had a 14-day free trial. Fourteen days. Based on that information, I signed the paperwork believing I had two weeks to decide whether this gym was a good fit. Instead, before what I understood to be the end of that trial, I was charged my first bi-weekly membership payment and then hit with a cancellation fee when I chose not to continue. Between the two charges, I was out nearly $100 after only using the facility twice. When I tried to explain that I had signed up based on what your employee told me, I wasn't met with understanding or an attempt to resolve the situation. I spent over an hour going back and forth with the GM, explaining that your staff failed to clearly explain when the trial period actually began, when it ended, or what charges would be triggered. Rather than acknowledging that there may have been a breakdown in communication, I was simply expected to pay. Eventually, I was so exhausted by the conversation that I paid the fee and left. The facility itself only reinforced my decision. The equipment is outdated, the men's locker room was dirty, and the building feels neglected. More importantly, my fiancée didn't even feel comfortable working out unless she was right beside me. That alone was enough for us to know this wasn't the right environment. This review isn't about the money. It's about honesty, transparency, and how customers are treated. If this happened because an employee wasn't properly trained, the owner deserves to know. If this is how memberships are intentionally presented to prospective members, then future customers deserve to know that as well. I have no problem paying for a gym that delivers value and treats people with respect. I do have a problem with being told one thing during the sales process, discovering something completely different after my card is charged, and then spending over an hour arguing about it instead of seeing someone genuinely try to make it right. I hope the owner reads this, reviews exactly how memberships and "trial periods" are being presented by the staff, and decides whether this is really the experience they want representing their business. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I will never recommend this facility to anyone I come across who takes an active lifestyle as an important aspect in their life. To this day, no one has called me back and not one person at the front desk could give me an email address to send my complaint so I'll just copy that text below: Subject: Concern Regarding Disrespectful and Racially Targeted Behavior at Your Facility To Whom It May Concern: I'm writing to express deep concern about an incident that occurred at your location involving my wife and me. We have been loyal Planet Fitness members for over five years and have visited your gym regularly without issue. Typically, we scan in, are greeted courteously, and proceed with our workout without any additional steps required. However, on our most recent visit, after scanning in as usual, we were abruptly stopped by an employee named Jeremy Moon, who informed us that we needed to sign in the second person via the app. These instructions were new and confusing--especially since we are both already in the system with photos on file. I asked Jeremy to simply sign her in since both our profiles are active and on record, but he insisted that I send her a link via the app, which made little sense to us given our long history as members. What escalated the situation into something more serious and distressing was Jeremy's behavior following that exchange. Despite my wife saying she would take care of it, Jeremy followed her closely--so closely that he was arm-to-arm with her--into the stretch area. His behavior was intrusive, inappropriate, and unnecessary. He blocked her path, hovered over her, and prevented her from moving freely around the gym. To make matters worse, another gym member--who was completely uninvolved--felt the need to interject, adding to our discomfort and confusion. As I attempted to clean off my machine so I could assist with the app process, Jeremy continued to physically block my wife's movement. The entire experience felt racially charged, deeply inappropriate, and indicative of a larger issue with staff training and sensitivity. Black people have been policed and profiled in public spaces for generations, and this incident was yet another example of that. My wife left the gym in tears. We immediately canceled our membership and joined Crunch Fitness down the street. We are no longer members, so we are not seeking a refund or any financial resolution. However, we are demanding accountability. Jeremy's behavior needs to be addressed. At minimum, this situation warrants a serious conversation, additional training, and potentially a write-up or disciplinary action. Your team should all be aligned on your processes to avoid subjecting members--especially members of color--to harmful and targeted interactions like the one we experienced. Please follow up with me regarding how this matter will be addressed. It's important for your company to understand the damage that can be caused by even one employee acting inappropriately.

They should probably make that pole a different color or put a sign on it of some sort. Next, after we walked in, the gentleman at the counter acted a bit strange and just kinda stared at us while we stared back for a few seconds. He also had the scanners to scan your phone to get in faced towards him and instead of him picking it up to scan us in, he didn't, so I had to reach over the counter and scan me and my guest (my wife) in. Besides the very dangerous pole that almost took my wife and I out on the way in and way out, I didn't mind the interaction with the worker even though it was strange. Next, the equipment was very outdated and very used and just all around uncomfortable. Some machines we couldn't get to work correctly and it was super dark inside the building, too, which we didn't enjoy. The bathrooms were a tad bit gross but the locker room was pretty clean. Lastly, the water bottle filler does not have a filter light which scares me because I like to drink lots of water at the gym which is a key part of my workout and not knowing if the filter is ever changed makes me feel uncomfortable drinking it so we didn't. All in all, if this is the only gym you can go to, you can definitely make it work but for me, I can drive an extra 5 minutes and go to a different Planet Fitness, which I have and will keep doing. That location has very friendly staff and newer, more updated and comfortable equipment, and much brighter and welcoming inside.

You can also get free karate lessons and such if you happen to live in the complex. Honestly, I wouldn't pay for this place were I not in residence. Amongst the treadmills that sometimes work, the other equipment that is older than dirt, and the single television that's usually stuck on Barney or some other PBS children's show, it's just not worth the money. I know there are other gyms in the area, so unless your game is tennis, I'd say shop around.
