I'm giving two stars because it could be worse. I find the therapy staff to be caring but overworked. The nursing, physician and administrative staff seem disinterested, distracted or over worked. I cant count the number of times that I was told that they would look into something and get back to me and I never heard from anyone. Phone calls and messages go unanswered. When they did schedule a patient care update meeting with me. I was told to be on time because it could only go 15 minutes. I arrived one hour prior to the scheduled meeting and was told that they were running 15 minutes late. They actually meet with us 50 minutes after our scheduled time. My meeting took place and several of the key players were not there. I've decided to take my mother out of the facility and take our chances at home. I've noticed that when bad reviews are issued they Center responds and says call us but doesn't give the name of a person to call or an extension. read more

My mother has been living at Workmen's Circle for over two years. She is treated well by the staff is the staff treats her in a respected manner. Staff are responsive to her changing needs and are open to meeting with me when there are issues or concerns. read more

Took my Mom out today this discharge procedure is a joke, I could go on and on about this place but it would fall on death ears like everything else. The only positive thing is PT and a wonderful nurse name Fransica who was so helpful today I can not speak for other floors but 2nd floor stay away from if you must take your love one to Workman. Giving a one star only because giving zero stars isn't an option. This location is by far the worst kind of location. The excessive amount of roaches in this location is unsanitary and ridiculous. The nurses in this location DO NOT deserve the title of nurse because they're horrible and super unprofessional. The lack of professionalism is this location, makes me wonder how has this location remained running in the matter it has because it's DISGUSTING ! The nurses are never around when needed, and when asked a question they never know anything. Also the fact that not only it feels unsafe, they're CONSTANTLY stealing. How does a persons clothing go missing from their own room which is supposed to be their "safe place", but when you ask a supervisor or anyone who supposedly "works" at the location NO ONE has any idea ! How do you send a person who has Alzheimer's into a psyc ward WITHOUT informing the family. To top it off you have her strapped to a chair clearly knowing she has severe back issues and doesn't speak any English and don't have anyone to translate for her. After doing all this there were constant false reports made towards my grandmother stating she's hurting the night shift "nurses" but yet this is a location that should have nurses with proper training to work with people who have Alzheimer's. Another thing how can you send and discharge a patient without the families consent and when we called the location that she was going to get sent to they informed us that their paper work stated that we gave consent which we NEVER did, so that's FRAUD!!! The fact that multiple times they packed up my grandmothers things, having her half dressed without consent... because she can't consent on her own because she has ALZHEIMERS !!!!! Another thing is the fact that their were many times that my grandmother wasn't given food because she doesn't speak any English so she wouldn't understand and no one will attend to her. She was constantly left alone in a corner without any nurse or anyone attending her. The tour was a total scam!!! This whole location is a scam and only care about the money and not the actual well being of their patients !!! I was left disgusted by this location and will most definitely go further to handle all the fraudulent activities that have occurred at this location !!!!!! read more

My mother was in Workmens Circle for rehab app. four years ago and loved it. Unfortunately she got sick again and had to go back to rehab so of course we went back to Workmens Circle. The WORST decision we ever made. 1. My mother fell in the bathroom because she wasnt given a walker. My mother went there for rehab on learning how to walk again. Once she was admitted she should have been given a walker or wheelchair from day one. 2. I called the director of nursing and asked for the house doctor to please examine my mother. I was told that as soon as she is examined I would be called. Three weeks later ..... never got a call. 3. I went to the Physical Therapy department and was told my mom was refusing to go to PT. I asked could I please be called when she refuse. Needless to say about three weeks after this my mom was discharged (kicked out) of Workmens Circle because she refused PT three days in a row. 4. I was trying to transfer my mom out of Workmens Circle so when I called the new nursing home to check on the status of my mom application. THEY told me my mom was being discharged from Workmens Circle. The social worker from Workems Circle stated she was trying to call me.... She was dialing the wrong number BUT had the right number on all the paperwork. 5. There were mice in my moms room. I saw it first. My dad saw two about a week later. Then my mom saw them again a few days later. I will be making a formal complaint with the State. read more

I was a patient at this facility and have nothing but great things to say about the services and therapy they gave to me. All the nursing staff was great and worked together to address all of my needs. Everytime I rang for the call bell they came quickly and helped me out. The place was beautiful. They even had laundry services that arrived back quickly. One of my best experiences was with with my therapists Jeff and Judy. I was getting therapy 2 times a day and they were great, they even let me dance to the music they played daily during therapy sometimes. I also had a great vascular Doctor, Dr. Vitti, who I was able to visit at the facility. The nursing supervisors always came in to visit me and make sure that all was well. I am so greatfull to have been to this facility. Unfortunately, I have stayed in many facilities but this has been the best one yet. Thank you so much! read more

Workmen's circle is a wonder place to be. Rehab is amazing, staff makes you feel so comfortable, social worker is always on top of the work. They even have patient advocates that come and check in multiple times a day! The food is great, eggplant parm a restaurant quality!! This is a terrible rehab to bring your family/friends. This place is filthy with mice/ understaffed/ unsanitary and the patients are NOT being taken care of. Also the staff took hours to change my mom when she urinated and had a bowel movement and they also stole her money and pocessions. Eventually my mom started to hold her bowels instead of letting it go because the aids would get upset when they had to change her bedding and pamper which hurt in in the end. My mom was admitted there because she had a stroke in the first place and physical therapy eventually stopped becaus of insurance reasons we were told. My dad told me he remember a time the utensils weren't clean!!! My dad had to continuously insist on her being take to a hospital immediately because she was having a lot of stomach pain and weakness and eventually couldn't have a bowel movement. Finally when the doctor there released her when she got to the hospital her tests said there was a microbe in her urine she got possibly from the home. Now as I speak she now has an infection which spread to mostly to her digestive system and now her liver isn't working. If her staff at this home changed her regularly, if the home was clean and if she was released to go to the hospital sooner all of this Could have been prevented. I'm so upset right now and hurt!!! read more

Do not send anyone here !! They killed my dad ! My dad was in and out of here. Dialasis for his kidneys and rehabbing to walk again . We would have someone visit once a day and he was always complaining . They ignore me . So we would talk to the staff and they would say they come when they can . So now we get a phone call one day my dad isn't breathing. They send him to rehab and he had high blood pressure when he went ? We said why would you send him if he had high blood pressure? Then another person says no he had high blood pressure after the rehab! Then how was no one watching him when he was going into cardiac arrest ?! They had no answer and didn't know what to say. My mother at the time just found out she had pancreatic cancer and didn't want to pursue legal . Now fast forward 2 years later . The best part. They don't do the job in billing department either . My dad had 2 insurances and after neglecting his care and letting him die now they are trying to insult me by asking me to pay money for him. DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE! read more

Facility is only suitable for rehab. The nursing staff are unreliable and not caring toward their patients. The physician was not consistent in treatment. The social work staff were a joke and not reliable what so ever. read more

This place is lovely, however, their workers leave a lot to desire! I have my mom there, second time. First was for Rehab, now its for long term. The workers are LAZY and have their choice people to cater to! My mother has become like an invalid and therefore, can't feed herself, go to the bathroom. So she's totally dependent on them, they hear the call bells and ignore them! I was there talking with a nurse, and the bells were ringing, I asked her wasn't she going to address that bell? How long does it take to answer a call bell? Is there a maximum time for their response? Obviously there is NOTHING IN PLACE for this! My mother was in a SATURATED diaper for HOURS and has a bed sore. They leave her there for hours knowing this is a recipe for disaster or possibly an INFECTION! I had to go there to address this, why do I HAVE to GO THERE to TELL THEM their JOB? Its so frustrating, because some of the workers really don't care about the residents living there! I'm so disappointed in them because like someone stated, they treat you with such concern and empathy when you first arrive, then when you're in, everything starts to fall down at the waistline! Think carefully before you bring your loved one there, outside of NYC is the best bet! read more

They are very nice and accommodating to you in person and when they are onboarding your loved ones into their facility. Once that's done, much of their service is less than professional. There are some really nice folks in the admissions office who were very nice to me and my family but trying to get things settled between the Finance Office and the Billing Department REMAINS an issue and my family member was only in there FOR ONE DAY believe it or not. I've been told that they have come a long way from their former days of being a horrible place where they were all about the money and not about the services or patient care but I feel they still have a lot more to work on. read more

I only wish I had of read the reviews prior to sending my dad here. I would like to say I've seen worse but I'd be lying. Admissions was very friendly and actually offered to pay for me to take a taxi to see the facility when I was looking for a place for my father. Since I was from out of town I needed to know he would be taken care of. Of course admissions said what I wanted to hear. However, from day one when he was admitted I clearly saw it was a huge mistake. This place is absolutely horrible!! The staff on his floor is lazy and rude!! He did not have a phone in his room when first admitted and I can tell they had no intentions of giving him one. I called the front nurses station and asked how he was doing and if a he received a phone yet and the person at the nurses station was upset because she had to walk to his room to check. She had threw the phone down on the desk. When I came up the next day feces was on the floor and urine from his catheter overflowed on the floor. When I asked about it the staff cleaned it up but clearly had a horrible attitude. The following day I met with the assistant director and told him what took place and he assured me that he would look into it. This was only day 2. By day 6 it went from bad to worse. They left his dirty diapers on him for hours. One day a worker did not see me sitting behind the curtain and stuck her head in and said quietly do you want to eat. With my father at that time you had to bring his tray to him and he would eat what he wanted off the tray. I stuck my head from behind the curtain and told her to give him his food tray. I can go on and on about this place. However, I will conclude by saying this. It was so bad he spent 8 days there and I moved him!!!! Lazy, rude, horrible attitudes!!! I could NOT let this place take my father's dignity from him!!!! I am not writing this for an apology from anyone. You clearly know what kind of business you are running and if you don't shame on you!! Again, I just wish I had of read the reviews prior to sending my loved one here!!! A lesson learned!! read more

My husband came to Workmen's Circle with problems walking. In the 8 weeks he has been here, they have helped him enormously. He is now walking with a rollator and using the exercise bike. The therapy department is very well staffed and equipt. They give you one on one therapy daily. If you require they have physical and occupational therapy. The nursing staff is knowledgeable and efficient. Their care is exemplary. My husband has many medical issues, which are all taken care of by the house physician. Blood tests are forward to my private Nephrologist who consults with the Workmans circle physician in order for him to get the best continuation of care. The CNA's are very caring and come when you ring the bell. The food is just ok. They need to tweek the menus to accommodate people's taste. Overall, this has been an excellent experience. There is plenty to do. The rooms are spacious and clean. read more

I'm sorry it took me so long to write this review. It's been a year now since my mom left Workmans Circle. Our experience was horrible!!! Let's start from the beginning..... Myself and a Family member was given a tour, they showed us mostly the 2nd floor. The 2nd is the Nicest and most taken care of then any other floor. My mom was later transferred 2 more times to other floors because she need more attention( this I'll understand) I only found out she was moved when I showed up to visit. I can't remember the floor she was last on its been about a year now. I do remember the floor having a bad older consistently. This floor was also understand staff everyday. Also note if you don't ask they won't tell you. They only shower the patients 2 times a week, I Learned that after she was registered and asked. My mom was placed in a big room with other resident for most of the day just sitting down for hours. I'll visit and she'll be sitting sometimes next to the window where the sun would shining right on here ( making her hot and very uncomfortable I'm sure) So the main read that made me write this review was on one Saturday evening right before visiting hours were over just about 7pm, I came to visit my mom. She was sitting in the large room with other resident. I noticed A long trail Of what appear to be urine on the floor as I looked closer I seen it was coming from my mom as she was sitting by the window. My mother has on adult diapers. She must have been sitting in her own urine long enough for it to go through the diaper and make a trail to the middle of the room at least 30/45 minutes. I was very upset and was told they will look into it. There should be no looking into it as it should have never happen. She would not return and will not recommend this place to anyone. Many other places you can go but stay away from here. I did look up reviews before picking this place they weren't many if any most were ok. But I have Learned a lot. read more

If I could I wouldn't give any stars. This is an absolutely awful facility. Very short staffed one overworked and under paid Registered Nurse or 1 Licensed Practical Nurse for about 45 patients and maybe 4 Certified Nursing Assistants. Management sole interest is in health care for profit staff changes like a revolving door, this causes pt. neglect and mistreatment. How does management expect this to workout in safe care for the patients? Multiple falls and injuries, bed sores and possibly loss of life. The families should hold management accountable for these acts. If you see something say something. If management doesn't make measurable changes concering your family and loved ones, get your churches; borough presidents and neighbors to help. Let them know what you see and your experiences. The way to see safety and caring for our loved ones is to let management know that you demand that your loved one's receive good and safe care and don't keep silent and feel helpless and alone. Involve the community, and your politicians. read more

I am currently at WORKMAN'S CIRCLE and happy I came. I had bi lateral knee replacements and came here July 2015, and had a revision this week and came back because it is a great facility. I am disappointed to see these negative reviews so I want to share my observations and experience as a short term client. As a patient here I have enjoyed the food, because we patients have choices so there is always a way to get a healthy meal if you don't like what's on the menu, you simply just ask, physical therapy, and occupational therapy is great because the staff is attentive as well as the work out room is spacious and clean. I find all staff members, whether the clean up man or nurses are dedicated, attentive, genuinely united and kind. Once I get my assessment from the PT and OT staff they assign me a wheelchair so I can move around more freely. On my excursions I have observed patients and sometimes their family members interacting with the staff. The hardheaded patient refuse to follow the rules for their safety, so they will not be allowed to move without supervision,they refuse to do exercise and for whatever reason they always want help when meals are being served to the rest of the patients. The staff is so good here they never give up on the hardheaded patients, they lightheartedly continue engaging them until they break through, and get them to eat, do one more set of exercise, or even set up private sessions until they are comfortable. The equipment is up to date and diverse. I have never seen any mice, and spend time in the patients pantry on many occasions. I never wait long for assistance. Everyone has bad days, however I have experienced very few here and my progress gets better. I've found the more proactive family or patients can be with their loved ones, the better their results at this great facility. They also have wifi and great TV's. read more

This is a really bad Facility. first of all this place is filthy with a lot of mice. my dad has been in this place since June and he has lots a lot of weight due to them not giving him food. the Cna are terrible if you ring the bell for help make sure that you have a lot of patients because they would last 30mins. My dad was sent to the hospital because he was not responding and I was told the reason why because he got a uti-urinary tract infection this is due to not changing diapers!!!!!!!!!!!! also very dehydrated the doctors were really surprise on the condition my dad was. he lasted in the hospital about a week thanks to you guys my dad instead of getting better has gotten worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! am really happy my made the right choice to take him out I wouldn't recommend this place to nobody this place says its a 5stars it s a one star!!!!!!!!!! this place should be close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
