I actually seen Justin Lo here on yelp when I was looking for an attorney that can replace the one I had at the time. The attorney I had done nothing to help my case but take money and treated me seriously rude. (And yes, I will be writing negative reviews about this attorney for sure..) I went to this other attorney for an different topic but relating to my criminal case to get an consultation on divorce filing/custody concerns and she (the family law attorney) has recommended Justin Lo to me saying that he Justin Lo attorney is highly recommend. When my son landed in jail for going into someone's carport to look at a bike, I didn't think it was serious. He hadn't taken anything. I figured it was a simple case of trespass, but the $50,000 bail seemed exorbitant and troubling. I learned he was being charged with first degree attempted burglary. Since the carport shared a wall with an apartment, it was considered breaking and entering a house, which then qualifies as a felony and a violent crime. On line I learned one could get 3 years in prison for this. It seemed the charges and potential punishment were completely unreasonable for the infraction and my son had no prior arrests. So I decided to find a lawyer to help. I looked on Yelp for lawyers in the Southbay and there were many, but none with the consistent 5 star reviews and vivid descriptions as for Justin Lo. Everyone said he was competent, smart, caring, honest, skilled and that he helped them. I would add that he understands how to get along with people, keep good relationships, even with difficult people and set himself up to succeed when he needs their help. He also has a strategic view of the battle-space and tactics to obtain his objectives. I won't repeat what everyone else said, but I'll give a glimpse of my experience. When I called Justin, he called back fairly quickly. He gave me an overview of what we might face and suggested I check with other lawyers also. When I met him with my son and his mother, we discussed what we were up against. He had already checked the site of the carport and advised us. We retained his services and he guided us through the court proceedings and also helped us evaluate the risks. At each step of the court process he was with us and effectively dealt with judges to get us time to investigate. He advised hiring a Private Investigator (PI) to check on the witness, who claimed that my son had pliers in his pocket - implying he was there to steal. The PI checked the witness, who did have a police record, looked and acted like a street person, but was looking for a chance to play a hero. When the PI and Justin asked him to recount what happened, he wanted the police report to refresh his memory and couldn't remember exactly. Their estimation was that the witness would not hesitate to embellish his story in court and since he was the only witness, jurors would be inclined to believe him. Justin said, going to court is a crap shoot. You may get off, or they may throw the book at you. But having the PI help investigate gave him a clearer picture that the risk was high. The DA made an offer of Second degree burglary, felony, no strike, and a year in jail. My son had been thinking of going into teaching, but having a felony and jail time would prevent him from teaching and would bar him from most other jobs as well. The DA offer didn't seem very good to me, but Justin advised that a strike is a big thing, but he would continue to press for a better deal. We assembled information showing his productive past and great potential. At our second court the DA was unexperienced and not inclined to make a new deal, so Justin went to the head DA multiple times and obtained a much better deal. The final deal is a second degree felony that will be reduced to a misdemeanor after 18 months, 300 hours of community hard labor, 6 months of residential drug rehabilitation and no jail. I can't express how grateful I am to Justin's ability to get this significantly improved outcome. To me the system that gives one so much punishment for such a small infraction is still not justice. If I compare his sentence with the punishment that Alabama Governor Robert Bentley just got it is ludicrous. Bentley, who essentially "stole" (from his campaign account) $50,000.00 for himself and about $9,000.00 for his mistress's legal fees only got only 2 Misdemeanors (although charged with 4 Felonies) 1 year unsupervised probation, 100 hours of community service, has to pay back what he took and he got no jail time or rehab. My son got a Felony, 3 times more probation, 3 times more community Labor (not service) and has to do 6 months of rehab. Considering he took nothing, I think the comparison shows the inequity of our laws and their enforcement. However, because the system is so harsh, having someone who can help mitigate the punishment to something that does not ruin a young man's ability to make a living for the rest of his life, is a critical service. On our last day in court Justin indicated to us that this justice system seems like a giant machine that grinds people up, unless someone comes along and plucks a person out of the jaws of the machine. That is what Justin did for us: Plucked my son from the machine and give him a chance for a good life. Justin advised my son, who is now responding, doing his punishments, performing well in school and quit the drug crowd. For that I am eternally grateful. Thank you Justin. read more

My name is Sandra, my husband Carlos had a very difficult case that included alcohol level results of .14 & .13, police report from two diffrent policemen saying he was driving unsafely and he was all over the highway and also failed the walking and turning test. Let's face it Lawyers usually get a bad rap in general but Justin will change the mind of the most skeptical person out there. I had a minor issue and needed some knowledgeable advice.
