So imagine my surprise when I set up a time for a PiYo (pilates-yoga flow) class here. The space is large and very well maintained and clean. (God, I love clean, I hate when you're in down dog and spy a hair cluster that sweeping missed). Lovely space. Good class selection. Seriously, if this were on the coast, users would probably pay $150+ a month to join. I've been to one class, hope to get in one more, but from one pro to another, Sarah Fechter has a good thing going. Keep it up and keep giving Saginaw a place to get their fit fab on. The only thing preventing me from giving it a full five stars was the reservation system. I found it really odd that FB posts/replies were how spots were reserved. They would probably be better served transitioning to MindBody or MYiClubOnline for class reservations so you don't have to wait for a FB reply to see if you're in or not.

The variety of class options is great; there are cycle classes, TRX strength classes (a unique format), and a variety of yoga classes. The studio is small but in a cozy way. There is basically just a front desk area with storage cubbies and water dispenser, then a one-room studio large enough for a class with 15 cycle bikes and some equipment shelves. I fell in love with this place's atmosphere in my first few classes (I have tried several of the formats with different instructors). The operation is quaint, very clean, homey, and peaceful. I feel refreshed after every class! The staff is also amazing; the instructors are always friendly, welcoming, and energetic. Keri is especially passionate and goes above-and-beyond to make every guest welcome and encouraged to work. Keri was integral to me becoming a regular customer - if she hadn't been such a great first impression in my first class, I doubt I would have come back the next three days in a row. Thank you, A8!

The class was informative, it felt great, the instructor (Marti? Marty? I don't know how to spell her name) was incredible. She offered modifications without being pushy or invasive. It's in a beautiful location in Bay City and from the moment you walk in the door, you feel a sense of calmness and belonging. I can't wait to get back there and integrate this into my fitness/health routines. So do not hesitate. Check this studio out and you will not be disappointed!

A co-worker convinced me to do it and I never expected the changes I was going to see. Not only did they push me and motivate me in the body challenge, but I changed my entire lifestyle because of the positivity and encouragement I received from the people and trainers at this gym. Not only are you getting a KILLER workout every time you come here, but you have SO MUCH fun. It is so up-beat and perfect for anyone at any age. There are classes for everyone at every fitness level. Disclosure: Whatever class you choose, you will be pushed, you will sweat, and you will be exhausted, but every minute is worth it. Fast forward 9 months, I live in Los Angeles now where there are thousands of gym and fitness options. There are some killer places here, but nothing like Seung Ni. You are part of a family when you work out at Seung Ni and families don't let family members quit. SOO grateful for this place!

I am a big fan of Element 22! I was at home for the summer, bored, and I needed a good workout to…read morechallenge me. Dow Fitness center does have great specialty classes, but only on certain days of the week - and no ballet bar (yet!). I've been wanting to try ballet barre classes for a long time, but the rival ballet studio down the street is hugely expensive. Someone recommended Element to me, and I was very impressed with the experience overall. The classes are reasonably priced, the online scheduling system is easy to use and the instructors are really talented. They also let you try your first week free, in case you are unsure. When you first go, the instructors are very high energy - the workouts are extremely intense, but in a positive way (this is not bootcamp style). You will be very tired but amazed what your body can do by the time you are done. Ballet bar was one of the hardest workouts I have ever done, even with years of tennis, spinning and Pilates under my belt. The idea is very tiny, very slow muscle movements that work under-used muscle areas. The first few reps are easy, until you suddenly feel an intense burn. They will take you through about 15 minutes each of Arms, Abs/Back, Glutes and Legs. It is not for the faint of heart, but don't be scared off by the challenge. It becomes addicting! Pilates was still tough but incorporated enough yoga elements to give your muscles a periodic break. I recommend this for those just starting over the ballet bar. I didn't get to try the yoga, unfortunately. I also wanted to address the stereotypes head on - a lot of people are intimidated by places like this because they think everyone will be too fit, too wealthy and too snooty. You will see the lululemon crowd here to be sure, but I also saw a range of fitness levels, body types, fashion choices and ages. Yoga guys in loose sweaters would do planks next to high school students and seniors. Tanned fitness buffs would chat with new moms and people with muscle injuries. It's very diverse! Personally, I never felt out of place, although I am not very fit. I think it may have something to do with the instructors - they put out a very welcoming vibe to everyone, and do their best to remember everyone by name. Element 22 only has a few downsides. When you first start they will often publicly correct your form, which can be a little embarrassing. You may also not make it through the entire workout. But different instructors have different styles and they have a good variety of personalities and class types to try until you feel comfortable. All of the employees are extremely outgoing and personable, so it's totally okay to pull them aside and ask them anything (like modifications for injuries, which I saw a lot of). I suggest going for the first week, giving it a try and seeing how goes - I think almost everyone will be pleasantly surprised!
