VERDICT: Yes, we were impressed and we didn't get gouged. We'll be signing a maintenance contract with WES when they return back to install a water safety switch. SUMMARY: Our former homeowner used Work Environmental and now we do too after a terrible experience w/ a company named Best 1 Air (B1A). BACKGROUND: Our 2nd A/C unit was cycling on and off. It was effectively non-op. We got a recommendation from a friend to go with B1A because we were a bit desperate to get it fixed asap and what a mistake. SHORT STORY: B1A was recommended to us and the tech came. He pulled at our condenser wire and the condenser stopped working. He turned to me and said "What happened???" and I said "YOU TELL ME". So literally this tech spent 3.5 hours sweating in our attics trying to figure out the problem. It became apparent that he was spending too much time trying to do things and he said he thought it was related to the circuit board and would need to come back a second time. To make matters worse, he left a mess. Gate was left open (cat almost got out), both attics were left open with the lights on, hose was not reeled in, and then he sat on our brand new dining room chair sweating through his pants. Like who does that? I also asked him to bill me for the work and he said he didn't even have invoices to fill out and give me. Seriously. After short discussion the next day w/ the wife, we elected to text him to not come back. We called Work Environmental and they sent TJ over. THE FIX WAS IN HIS HANDS TJ was extremely professional and courteous. I gave him the low down of what happened and after some short diagnosis he figured out within about 30 minutes that it was shorting. He went back to the condenser, looked at the wiring, and he ended up replacing the wiring. Pic attached. The wiring was so old that the wire sheathing and the protective sheath was rotted away. The wires were touching against each other and thus shorting itself. TJ replaced the wiring and was done in a little over an hour's time. Cost was the cost of the service call ($119). The other guy spent 3.5 hours and the cost was nearly $400. He did fill up our main condenser with 2lbs of freon, he said so deduct whatever the cost of that was. But the difference in expertise and professionalism is starkly night and day. The thing that makes us upset is that we believe the first tech from B1A might have not been honest with us. I mean literally I watched him pull at the wiring and the unit shut down in front of the both of us. Why he didn't spend more testing/diagnosis at that failure point is beyond me. Fastest returned calls of any service company I've worked with! Very reasonable prices, but honestly, I would have paid more! Dave is a legend and technical wizard at what he does! Love these people and they are amazing at what they do. Sometimes, the diagnosis was not positive, on a service call, but they always explained, in detail, what the problems were, and how to fix them! I noticed that someone left a 'one star' review, claiming that WES never returned phone calls or subsequently communicated. Well, firstly, it's not fair to leave a review based on 'no service', and I sincerely cannot believe that these, extremely reliable people, 'ignored' and never contacted whomever left that bad review. BEST COMPANY AND BEST EMPLOYEES! I found this company by Angie's list a few years ago and when I had air condition issue and one technician came to look at it from Work Environmental Systems. He found out that it was a fuse issue. He replaced and didn't even charge any. Amazing! Finally, my air condition caused a major issue but no worry. I have this company phone number on my phone. So I called and they came out fixed it. Price is reasonable and technician is super nice. After my air condition fixed from them I never have any issue. Highly recommend this company. This morning I noticed that my outside A/C unit was making a very loud sound and the fan wasn't turning. I immediately turned it off and started calling heating and air companies. I called so many, only to be told that it would be tomorrow or Monday or even later before a technician could come out. I had explained that we were a household with people with chronic conditions and that it was an emergency for us. I called Work Environmental Systems and was told that someone would be contacting me this afternoon about coming out. Instead, the technician called us well before noon, met us at my house within minutes and had completed the repair. Now my A/C is working! I want to highly recommend this company and especially the technician, T.J., who was very professional and explained things to me and also gave me some good tips. This company actually provides real customer service! I am a senior and live with my adult daughter who is disabled. My a/c went out in August during some of the hottest days in the summer. Because they couldn't replace the system for a couple of days, they came in the same day I called and installed two temporary window units in our bedrooms. Because of workload they couldn't come out until Sunday but once on site the technician worked tirelessly and professionally to isolate and restore my service at a cost that was very affordable. The technician even brought me the failed parts so I could see what he'd found and got my approval before beginning any repairs. After a previous company tried to sell me a whole new system it was really refreshing to find a company that shows such honesty and integrity in this day and age. I've had two good experiences with this company, so it's time to review. They installed an AC system for us a year ago. That went well. They arrived on time, did it quickly, despite some hang ups, and were polite. Good price and all that. We were happy...until today when the AC wouldn't start. I did all the troubleshooting I knew to do, but finally gave up and called. Their tech called me back, and was honest that he didn't think he could get to us because they were so backed up. He was working on another job, but offered to help me troubleshoot a few more things over the phone. We found the issue and I was able to fix it myself. Really happy that he was more interested in helping us than making a fast buck and leaving us hot for a night. read more

We purchased our unit from this company and expected to do business with them forever. I called and scheduled a check up, twice a year you know, 3 1/2 weeks ago. I was told they would call the day before to give me a time window. I called them at about 4:50 and was told I don't know how you were overlooked, but we will have someone at your home between 1 and 5. At 4 I called for an update as we had evening plans and was told he'd call the technician and call me right back. Sorry by 5:30, no call back or service tech... well it's true sales sell the first and service sells the rest! I can use any AC company out there, so much for concerns about repeat business or costumer loyalty. The kicker was the cavalier attitude of the dispatcher when I called to cancel. I just want to say that WOW!!! Every one always hears about the bad but this experience was great. I called LATE in the afternoon and they fit me in their very busy schedule. I really thought I was going to have to replace my condenser (very expensive) and they were able to replace all of my burnt parts. Thats right BURNT. My unit shorted and melted/burnt all of my connections/wires. Keep in mind my unit is a 16 y/o builders grade unit that should be replaced and their TECH said he should be able to get it done.They were in and out within 45 minutes and got to me 2 hours after normal operating hours. We lost our regular A/C man so it was scary when our A/C started acting weird. These guys were friendly, and very fair in price on a tune-up and small part replacement. Two different A/C companies insisted that I needed an entirely new HVAC system and quoted me $15,000-18,000. My dental hygienist recommended Work Environmental because they did a fantastic job for her, so I called to schedule a time for them to inspect my current 10 year old equipment and give me an estimate for a complete new system. Dave, the owner, thoroughly looked at everything, asked why I wanted a new system because he said I didn't need one. He recommended I fix my problem, and quoted me a price for repairing my current system ($790). He said that only in specific situations would anyone in Texas need a furnace any sooner than 30 years, and that a 10 year old system used under normal circumstance should only need repairing So I scheduled a time for the repair. Kyle and TJ came out, on time, and made the repairs. These gentlemen could not have been any more polite, respectful of me and my home, or professional. I also asked them to check the freon levels and ensure that my system was running at its potential. When they finished, they said that all levels were at maximum. (They easily could have said I needed a few pounds, charged me for it, and done nothing because how was I really going to know?) I offered to pay when they left, but they said an invoice would be coming in the mail. I was terrified as to what would it would say. But when it arrived, it was for $790 - even. There were no trip charges, supply charges, etc. They didn't even charge me to check the freon levels. I was prepared to spend $15,000, and was willing to give them all of that money. Even knowing this, Work Environmental only recommended that I spend what I needed to. Their actions speak to the integrity and work ethic of this company and their employees.
