I was so excited when I heard that a farmer's market will be opening down my side of town…read more This little market has only been open a month and so it's not huge, but it has some pretty fantastic little stalls available. It's an outdoor market and due to some new re-development next to the Hart Mill, there is a fantastic playground for the kids and a lovely seating area. The market starts at 9am to 1pm and with food stalls, I highly recommend coming for a delicious breakfast. They have pop-up cafe serving fairtrade Campos coffee, there are also many food stalls with the emphasis on local. From Bakerhus pies and sweet pastries, raw bliss balls and of course a stall from the famous Port Adelaidean cafe, Red Lime Shack, who sell delicious smoothies and vegetarian delights. Stick around and listen to the buskers, then wander around and pick up some organic fruit and vegetables, grab a freshly pressed organic apple juice, perhaps purchase some seedlings to grow your own herbs and vegetables. Then back to one of the other food stalls for an early lunch! You can take the girl out of Port Adelaide, but you can't take Port Adelaide out of the girl! I am proud of the area and proud of how its evolving. I love the alternative funky vibe and how passionate our local community and businesses are ensuring a bright future for the area and supporting locals. Here is a list of the stalls that are currently at the markets. Fingers crossed the list gets bigger soon! Rawsome Blissballs The Good Box Organics Fakery Bakery Red Lime Shack Taste It By Tash Haddo's Hotdogs Elevate Natural Pet Food Bakerhus Dig In It Fresh Forest Orchard Bulgarian Connection Pop Up Cafe for coffee Sorells Olives and Oils Seed Sisters (seedlings, seeds, etc)

I had to stop myself from patting all of the doggies who had come along with their owners. Great coffee. Lots of breakfast & lunch options if you are heading down for food. Unique organic options and fresh produce. It seems a new stall opens every week. The council have put a lot of money towards making this a unique and viable little spot with toilet facilities, a sparkly new playground and lots of free parking. Wild at Hart also had organised a small circus tent with a child friendly show playing the sunday I was there. It really is a gorgeous little part of Adelaide on the waterfront and I'm so glad that it's getting the attention and praise it deserves.

Not too sure if that's the pronunciation but let's just go with it hey! As I enter the door I'm greeted by staff who know me by name. They really like to get to know the regulars and it does make it feel like we are friends. Well they have food? Hello! I'll be anyone's bestie when it involves food. I cook a lot of Asian food, like 90% of my family meals. This place is right around the corner from me, but even not I would still travel to come here. Each week there is always something new and interesting I find and want to try. They have trolleys and baskets. I always, ALWAYS opt for the trolley since making the mistake of carrying a basket once and it was completely overloaded. I always have intentions of coming in 'just for a few things' but it never ends that way. From a huge freezer section to the left full of seafood, dumplings and vegan meat alternatives to name a few. A cool open fridge section with a huge variety of drinks, kimchi, tofu and vegetables. I could go on and on about the copious amounts of sauces, condiments, dried herbs, tinned foods, but you really need to go and see for yourself. What I love most is that they don't just stock one asian cuisine. I especially love the Indonesian and Japanese sections. There is also a butcher in the back. I'd love to buy organic but that's a pipeline dream for now. The chicken, beef and pork here is of great quality and fantastically priced. I'm talking under $10/kg for nearly every cut of meat. I make super savings by buying majority of my meats here. The only thing they don't stock is lamb and not a huge range of beef. So my fellow Yelp-tastic peeps. If you are in need of an Asian grocery store in the Western Suburbs then come and shop here. Then we can all eat, be merry and Dai Phat together!
