I have lived here for almost 2 years and overall am happy. Pros: I think the management office handled the pandemic very well. They hired extra cleaners, discounted the rent and organized a reservation system for amenities. I have had a few minor issues with the apartment and the friendly maintenance staff are always there to fix it immediately. The grounds are well taken care of too and the landscaper does a beautiful job on the lawns and gardens. The apartment is super unique and has lots to offer. My favorites are the pool, gym, game room, business center. There are beautiful plants all around the building and the woman who cleans does an amazing job. The location is great and there are great restaurants, bars and coffee shops within walking distance. Cons: Heating costs are INSANE. The apartment is always freezing and we still pay around $150-$200 more in the winter (electric heat). The windows could use an update because so much cold air gets in. We really wish there was some outdoor seating! There are two broken down picnic tables. There are lots of grassy areas and we really wish there were a few patios around. They keep saying it's coming, but we haven't seen any progress yet. There was a coffee station which was one of the top reasons we moved in. (I know this is a weird thing to move in for, but we figured we could save a few grand on not buying coffee daily). They took it away at the start of the pandemic and said they won't be bringing it back. It is an old building and the walls are thin. If you have quiet, respectful neighbors like we do, it shouldn't be a problem, but It is something to be aware of! The pros definitely outweigh the cons and this is a wonderful place to live!! read more

This property has so much potential if they could sell to a management company that treated the Woolen Mill as the gem it is. The apartments desperately need to be updated with nasty carpet and kitchens that were bottom of the barrel 17 years ago. There is so much potential to make this a beautiful community with a bit of art, a coffee shop and residents lounge area / events. I look forward to the day this property is bought out, transformed, professional management is put in place and it lives up to the luxury potential that the Woolen Mill's bones could support. Loved the charm and aesthetic of the building and may have stayed another year but the front office staff is HORRIBLE! Rude, condescending, money hungry, and down right AWFUL! The apartments have the potential to be beautiful, but the management cares too much about the money instead of investing in their property. This leads to beautiful brick walls, large windows, and exposed beams surrounded by outdated kitchens, crappy carpeting, and thin walls. This place as all the potential to be amazing.....once current management goes back to where it came from! read more

The Woolen Mill apartments are a bit pricy, but there is a reason for that. The building is gorgeous with a unique aesthetic. The hallways were always clean, as were the grounds and parking lots. The leasing manager, Tammy is friendly and replied promptly to emails and concerns throughout my lease. The maintenance staff was always quick to respond and fix the few issues I did have. When renewing my lease, they allowed me to apply half of my security deposit to a new month's rent. I left my apartment fairly clean, but not perfect and I was issued the FULL remainder of my security deposit, less than 2 weeks after moving out. In addition, the managing company of the Woolen Mill reduced all tenants rent by 10% for several months while the Covid situation was unraveling. This was both professional and appreciated. I've read other reviews complaining about the noise from neighboring apartments but I rarely had this issue. I left because I was moving out of state, otherwise my experience at the Woolen Mill was wonderful. read more

Pros: updated kitchen with beautiful counter tops, fitness center, swimming pool, friendly maintenance staff, secure building, great location. I lived here for one year, and I cannot say enough good things about the location. My fiance and I would definitely call ourselves foodies, and have loved exploring all of the delicious food that the Winooski Circle has to offer. The "back yard" of the Woolen Mill was also one of my favorite things about livng here. Climbing out on the rocks and hanging out by the river was a lot of fun in the summer time. The view from our apartment is also outstanding. cons: TERRIBLE, and I mean TERRIBLE installation. Enormous drafty windows + brick walls = absolutely absurd heating costs. The fitness center does not have the most convenient hours compared to other fitness centers in the area, and it is small. The doors to the apartments do not always lock. I have come home to an unlocked apartment more than a few times. Maintenance was responsive in fixing this issue, but it continues to happen occasionally. We have had many issues with the blinds in our apartment for the enormous windows. They often do not function correctly, or snap in half all together. The building itself gives off an institutional vibe, and could use more furnishings, plants, decor, something...anything? I imagine that this building would be a fantastic place to film an episode of The Walking Dead. Hopefully that gives you an idea as to how creepy this place can be to walk around in at night...or the day. read more

My boyfriend and I have lived here for 2 years and have been very happy with our apartment. I will admit its not as nice as what you will get in other places, but its very nice for "Vermont standards" when it comes to housing. The maintenance staff is very friendly and are able to fix a lot of stuff on the same day that you report a problem. Its obvious that the company that owns the building cares about investing in its up keep and completing renovations to improve individual apartments and common areas. They host a yearly resident cookout with decent entertainment. The property manager is very friendly and maintains good communication about issues surrounding the building. The steep hill leading down to the lower parking lot is heated, which keeps it free from ice during the winter months. Snow removal is pretty good overall, but the parking lot does get slushy. Having a fitness center and indoor pool onsite is nice, but they operate the gym as its own business and have limited hours that its open on weekends and is closed on most major holidays. The pool area is beautiful, but they don't keep the pool heated at a consistent temperature. The location is okay, but has a slight streak of ghetto. The building is steps away from the round-about and river walk areas. Nearby restaurants are on par with what you would expect in Burlington with a few outstanding gems. Some of the surrounding streets/areas do seem a little sketchy, but we haven't had any problems with safety or having our cars broken into. read more

Pros: Huge apartment. Decent view. Access to tiny health club. Cons: Not well maintained. Staff and company will seek to bilk you out of every cent they can. No soundproofing whatsoever. Corporate and dispassionate feel. Parking finicky and inconvenient. Avoid this place at all costs...if they can find a way to bill you for it, they will. God help you if you lose the non-adhesive parking sticker at 2am. You'll get towed and billed. read more

If I can make this a NEGATIVE score I would. This place is terrible. They are the most expensive place in town yet they have the bottom barrel properties. I come home with water all over my apartment. And it's been happening many times. We have made complains every time this happens, they never fix the issue thoroughly. The walls here are paper thin. So much so, that when my neighbor was having a convo on their phone i could actually hear the person they were speaking to on the other end. Misleading and shady practices in the front office (tour you different apartments then what is available and often have you sign a lease for an apartment they didn't actually show you) Way over-market value and expect to pay well over 200$ a month in the winter if your heat is on around 60. read more

Lived in this apartment for almost 2 years. The maintenence staff is very nice and responds most of the time. The insulation is horrible and you will spend an arm and a leg in the winter trying to heat it. We split between 4 people and it was still too much. I think the housing is overpriced but the Fact that you have a gym and pool is nice. The gym hours aren't great (close at 9pm) and last year the staff let a stranger in who ended up stealing keys from the locker room and then breaking into cars in the parking lot. When a huge storm comes it takes them forever to plow the Parking lot and my car has been stuck more than once in the time I've lived there. Also, the management is horrible. They are rude when you need something and act inconvenienced anytime you go to the front office. Also, upon move out they provide no direction and then charge you bogus (and way over priced) fees for ridiculous items and fixtures that you have no responsibility for. These apartments look nice when you check them out but thin walls and horrible management make this a no go. Do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

Don't let the allure of amenities or high ceilings fool you. I am a current resident and have been living here for 6 months now. The pool and gym are great. The apartments and large windows are phenomenal. HOWEVER the walls are paper thin and the MANAGEMENT is terrible (specifically Tammy). They are extremely incompetent and rude. I have lived in several other apartment buildings both in the Burlington area and also the Boston area and have never experienced such rude treatment. Tammy is two-faced and the second you sign your life away (lease) the real Tammy comes out. The WALLS are also paper thin so you will become fully immersed into the lives of your neighbors, from fights to sex you'll hear every word. The PARKING is also a nightmare, I'm usually at the office until quite late and often find myself without a spot... how is this possible? They don't have as many parking spaces as they do parking passes. As illogical as this may seem its this kind of backwards management that is running this beautiful building into the ground. The ELECTRIC bills are obscene during the winter months due to inefficient heat and insolation. I live in a one bedroom with loft and pay an average of 200-300 dollars a month for electricity alone... the woolen mill is overpriced and I certainly won't be renewing my lease when the time comes. read more
