I booked this house for myself & some friends for a long weekend in May 2007. First impressions are…read morethat it is huge with plenty of space for a large group but it could do with a bit of TLC. There are 7 bedrooms over the first and second floors - one being a bunk room but all the others are doubles/twins with plenty of room. Our party comprised of 7 adults, 1 child and 2 infants and the house had rooms to spare. The property is available for smaller groups who do not occupy the second floor but even though we did take the whole property it was still well priced when split between 7 adults. This property was booked directly with the owner (presumed) who lives elsewhere. The website is comprehensive and is a good representation of the house. The house is located in the little village of Morthoe on the outskirts of Woolacombe. There is just one parking space infront of the property and the rest of us parked in the public car park - approx 5 min walk and very reasonably priced. The village has some pubs and shops that provide the essentials. Woolacombe is a short drive away - you could probably walk it but if you have kids and beach equipment driving is the better option. The house is well layed out with a huge lounge/diner that includes a full sized pool table and piano. There is a utility/boot room, which contains lots of useful beach equipment and a wc to the rear. The kitchen is almost industrial with plenty of crockery, pans, etc - it easily caters for the occupants even if full of adults. There is also a games room on the top floor with table football and air hockey. It is well situated for coastal walks and we played a local golf course which is just a 5 minute drive away (also reviewed). Overall, this place feels a bit like a hostel rather than home. However, it is very well priced for a nice break close to the large fantastic beach in Woolacombe.

I holidayed here in the 1980s when I wasn't even in school yet, and then again a few years later when I was in school, and then as an adult, I drove back down here several times, enjoyed Croyde Beach, and even slept over here once or twice. They have a cool "flume" which is a waterslide, sticking out of their little mini swimming pool building. It looks like nothing now, but when I was a kid, it was absolutely thrilling. I have very embarrassing nude photos of me hanging out on the beach here. I was last here last year, and it's as lovely as ever. There were girls doing Yoga on the beach, it was windy and raining (it's England, it always is!), and it just felt like home. My Dad doesn't even have the BMW that he drove me and Mum down here in, on the little hedge-lined B-roads of Devon... they're not even married anymore, in fact they broke up just years after the first vacation here and neither one have ever returned, although I have. The best part is that you can walk from the accommodation directly onto the beach. What could be better. And this is review #1988 because that was probably one of the years I came here as a tiny lad, even though I may not have been born yet then. I was going to recreate the nude photo now that I am an adult, but I feel like with a fully grown man, it would be a lot Ruda.

We had a surprise 50th Birthday Bash - In a Hotel around the bay. And stayed here. The Swimming pool is great. And the evening entertainment was good too. Its only over the road from Croyde Beach which is a magnet for surfers. And there are plenty of surfing schools to help you take on those superb waves. We had an 8th birth caravan and was very comfortable. Even the double bed (come sofa). We have a lot of fond memories of Ruda. In the 10 years we have been visiting this place. It still holds great memories for me and my family. Ruda caters for all sorts of holiday's. I.e. Caravans of all sizes, camping. And there are some lovelly cottages right on the beach front, with its own private pool and Jacuzzi. These are a bit pricy, and you have to book well in advance. But really good if you want to treat yourself one year. There is a good walk to Baggy Point too, and you can see Woolacombe from around the bay. Also recommend a couple of pubs near by - Billy Buds is a great surfers pub for all the family - Great play area for the kids.

On arrival one of our friends was made to pay a large deposit (£110) because there was a large group of us, this was more irritating than anything cause we weren't warmed about this before hand, we did get the money back the next day so it was fine in the end!! There's no frills at this campsite, the facilities are basic but clean and probably all you need for a weekend away with your mates! The on sight bar is well, um, interesting! They play music and serve till 1am, it's also 241 drinks during happy hour! They do have pool tables, and poles for pole dancing should this be your thing!?!! It's a really chilled campsite and your not going to be told to keep the noise down every five minutes unless it gets really late! The views from this campsite are incredible, the sea and beach looks stunning!!
