It's so evident that she loves what she does and how much that puts us at ease. With Tyson, once he was sick, Joanna put him at ease, went at his pace and was so incredibly attuned to his needs. When he passed Joanna was there for US! Her caring and empathy means so much to me! We loved Joanna already and didn't even know we could love her even more. From the very beginning, they went above and beyond to put me at ease, proactively sharing their business information, reviews, ID, and certifications. They sent updates and photos throughout the night, and it was obvious my dog was being treated like one of their own. My dog came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I had reached out to various dog trainers on Yelp to find one for my puppy. I came across Michael of Genius K9 who offered me some free training advice. He then pitched dog walks and dog boarding with his company if I was ever interested. Since my regular dog walker was going to be away a few days this month, I was interested. It was downhill from here. I tried to set up a "meet and greet" with the dog walker that Michael suggested (I will not name him here), and I couldn't reach Michael via text. After I sent him a follow up, I got a message on Yelp from the dog walker. We exchanged a few messages, and despite me getting an uncomfortable vibe from the person, I agreed to a "meet and greet." The meeting further confirmed the uncomfortable vibe, but I was going to go for it anyway because I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and trust them. The next day, when I was confirming the walk, it took almost seven hours to hear back from the walker to the point that I started contacting other walkers. At this point, I no longer felt comfortable using a company that did not carry insurance where I did trust the walker. Boy, did I make the right decision. I message Michael on Yelp that night to cancel and he says no worries and please feel free to use them in the future. Okay, sounds fine. Next day, I get a text message from the walker saying that he'll be by in 25 minutes to pick up my puppy for the walk. I told him that I cancelled last night and asked if Michael told him. Michael hadn't. The walker responded that I should pay him anyway because he traveled part of the way and really needs the money. He also gave me the impression that he was going to go pick up my puppy. Fortunately, he wasn't going to still pick up my puppy. He just wanted to be paid. I am still shaken up by this experience and want to warn others out there to be careful with this company. I am still worried now that I should change the code to my lock box, as I had told the walker the code before deciding to use another walker. In addition to litter box cleaning and checking the self-feeder and waterer, Kena emailed me daily updates along with a photo of my kitty. Their website states: "We treat your pets as part of our family," and it's true. They are kind, highly qualified, professional, responsible and love animals. When we adopted our dog Ruthie from BARC, she was sweet with us but had SEVERE behavioral issues. The first time Eddie came over she was terrifying, to be honest. It was like seeing a different dog. Eddie was calm and collected and knew exactly what was going on. I think many trainers would have high tailed it out of there, but Eddie was wonderful. When we first started working with Eddie, Ruthie was territorial, overly protective, and aggressive with people. Just taking her on a walk was exhausting and stressful for both her and for us. She lunged at dogs, people with canes, wheelchairs.... it was so stressful. When we started working with Eddie, everything changed. He worked with Ruthie and worked with us to give her the structure, love, and support she needed to really trust us. We've since moved from New York, but our dog is now friendly, gets along great with other dogs, loves people, and is just a joy to be around. She walks off leash, can be trusted with friends and family, and is highly, highly obedient. (People regularly remark on how well trained she is because she always follows her commands -- the ones Eddie taught us almost two years ago!) Eddie helped us become the best dog owners we could. He also boards dogs and is wonderful! Ruthie LOVED staying with him and his pack. And from a logistics and price standpoint, you really can't do any better than Eddie. It's still mindblowing that such high quality training is available in New York with such a great guy and qualified trainer at this price point. Whether you have a puppy or an older dog, whether they're trained or have behavioral issues, you can trust Eddie.

And his training skills are good, though he practices a more balanced training method than we would normally like. However-- and this is why we removed a star-- he is so busy that he can be inconsistent with being reached. When you're with him, he does give a lot of love and care, but there have been several instances of miscommunication when we were trying to set up training where we confirmed the day before about a training session and because we didn't confirm AGAIN the day of-- he didn't show up and thought our session was cancelled. I also wish he just booked our next appointment right at the end of session, but I think his partner organises everything. Because of this, and maybe this was due to the pandemic: we were sort of forced out of necessity (he wasn't answering emails or text messages) to switch to another trainer. I would recommend Eddie with the caveat that you'll have to be on top of him when it comes to scheduling. Again, he does good work and that should be noted. He just doesn't communicate as efficiently as we like. Maybe it's because his business is growing, and maybe taking too many clients at once (I don't want to assume,) but it got to be too much for us and we had to look elsewhere. Hoping others have better experiences.

My husband and I are so happy with trainer, Jess Castellano's, help with our dog, Copper. When we…read moreadopted him last year, it was clear from the start that he has a great disposition, but at just over 1 year old, he had very little training from his original owners. He was not housebroken and was a nightmare on a leash. Jess was able to provide us with great suggestions to help keep him from having accidents in the house, and following her advice got us into the right routine with him. We started to take Copper on the bi-weekly pack walks, which are such fun and a great opportunity to socialize with all sorts of dogs and people. We worked with Jess one on one as well to figure out how to get our pup to walk on a leash. She has a great disposition and our dog immediately responded to her. She then assisted us as we practiced the methods she used to make walking with Copper a more pleasant activity. We are very grateful to Jess for helping us and Copper to get into good habits together!
