Today, 01-18-2023, I was traveling home from Morgantown to Home and decided to stop in Fairmont for lunch. To be truthful I wanted to try Poky Dot Restaurant but they were closed, so I did a search on Google and Woody's was recommended. I found it easily and realized that I had been here before. I parked in their private lot and went inside. It was not very busy, which I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a Hot Dog with Chili, Slaw & Onions and she asked Mild or Hot Chili... WOW an options!! So, I said Heck give me one of each....up sale!!! I also asked for a cup of ice for my can of Coca Cola in the car. I decided to eat in my car while driving home. I applied salt & pepper (my standards). I found that both chili's had a kick but the Hot was very Hot. I like Hot Chili but not on my dogs!! So next time, I will go mild. The slaw didn't taste HOMEMADE to me...it tasted like Walmart Deli Slaw which is a No-No to me!! On my personal scoring scale for my favorite food...I give them a 3.5 out of 5!!! This place has the best chili dogs. The dogs are hot and the chili is spicy (just the way I like it). This is a great spot to come grab a quick bite to eat and the servers were pleasant as well. The only thing I wasn't as fond of was the pepperoni roll. Being that this was my first time trying a pepperoni roll, I thought it would be made in the traditional way built more like a calzone, but instead, it was made in a hot dog bun. Probably would need to try a pepperoni roll at a spot that makes them more traditional but their hot dogs are definitely worth a second visit. read more

I put Woody's as not only the best Hot Dog place in Fairmont, but this entire area from Morgantown to Clarksburg. My Grandfather took me there as a kid and the girls that work there were always friendly and the service was quick. This is the dive restaurant that dreams are made of. They serve primarily hot dogs, which are actually more like coneys (of Coney Island or Cincinnati fame). You get a choice of hot, medium or mild chili sauce, and a choice of ketchup, mustard and onions as well. The hot one is pleasantly hot. They also do their take on WV's pepperoni roll, called a pepperoni bun. Try it with sauce, cheese and peppers! Instead of a hot dog it has several pepperoni sticks in it and is also pleasantly spicy. Good god this place is awesome. It stays busy though service is incredibly snappy as well. The decor is total greasy spoon, looks every bit its age, but is clean and orderly. Sometimes simple is just the best. Hot dogs are really good. Next time, I may try the chicken salad sandwich. WV hot dog places are extremely popular and some in this area have extremely spicy chili. My second favorite hotdog place in Fairmont. I only come when i can't get a Yann dog. It's definitely a close second. There is more variety here! You can get hotdog, pepperoni rolls, and nachos here. A completely different menu than other places I venture for good dogs. You can get different sauces : hot, medium, or mild, so you can get the fix that you need. The ladies are super friendly in there. And the service is very fast. The place is small so can't really bring a lot of people. I usually take my dogs to go. The pictures of the different people who have come thought are pretty cool to look at. However, I would prefer Yanns, but you should absolutely try them both because everyone has different taste buds read more

I go here when Yanns isn't open.....I am from out of town so hot dogs are a real treat. Yanns will always be my favorite but these are good. The sauce is too sweet at times and there isn't a lot of depth of flavor. The hot sauce is simply the regular sauce with crushed red pepper dumped in. Pepperoni rolls with sauce and cheese are good. I have been on the hunt for the best hotdog in West Virginia. This was my first trip up north and my first hotdog stop was at Woody's. Simply put the hotdogs are delicious. The staff are incredibly friendly, unlike Yann's. The decor is really old school vintage hotdog joint. My only regret was that I got them to go instead of eating there. I aim to rectify that mistake and revisit soon. I wouldn't quite crown this dog "Top Dog" but it's not far behind. I wouldn't argue if somebody said this is the best. I have been eating at this fine establishment since I was conceived. Twenty three years later I still eat here. Great memories here from eating here before a u10 soccer game and scoring three goals after I ate three hotdogs, that's the magic in the sauce right there. But most of all eating here religiously after church every Sunday. If I am in town I'll be eating here first. The staff knows me and what I order and have my chocolate milk ready for me. Yes I said chocolate milk and hotdogs it's a classic around here. You dont know what your missing if you dont drink a cold glass of the good good. Ruth is the legendary waitress there, she treats me like family and if I were to eat at one place for the rest of my life it would be here. If they ever close I'd open up one and out compete McDonald's. The sauce is essentially the same taste of the greatest achievement of your life. YOU CANT BEAT THIS PLACE!!!! I love it. Our favorite hot dog shop in the area. The food is always fast and fresh and exactly what you expect from a local WV hot dog shop. The pepperoni rolls are good, but they are a little different than others in the area. They seem to do an incredible take out business. The sauce is simple but flavorful, and the slaw is perfectly tangy and sweet. The potato salad is also wonderful. The staff is quick and courteous. The atmosphere is full of WV history.
