They do have adorable signs greeting the dogs and even offering their own dog menu. I do love the fact that they take photos of them and there is hundreds of photos on ceiling of all the dogs that have been inside the bar. A group of us came in for a beer and to just adore the adorable dogs. The staff is so sweet and friendly and I honestly wish I lived locally to come here more often.

I believe it was sour cream on the side and the rice, which I was adding in. The portion was the right amount and I was definitely full. This place and name does have a fun ambience. It's busy, but not too busy - there's a good buzz about the place, without it being too noisy to hear one another - and there's a lovely relaxed vibe that instantly relaxes. I went here twice during my time here in Canterbury and enjoyed several long games of Settlers of Catan (yes, I know - I'm a geek) with great food and booze. The staff are not pushy and, so long as you have a drink on the table, are happy to let you play on until your heart's desire. We never felt pressured to hurry up and leave, which is always a bonus in these sorts of pubs. On top of this, lost in my game of Settlers and too engrossed in my enjoyment of the game, my phone was sadly stolen off our table. Now this may sound like a negative, however upon telling the staff about what had happened they were so kind and helpful and - thank goodness - a few hours later, called us to let us know they had found my phone (which had been mysteriously returned to the table) and they had it waiting for me behind the bar. Throughout the whole ordeal, they could not have been more helpful, which just made me love this place even more. Please also note that, despite the above story, this pub does not have a dodgy feel to it at all and I was very shocked when I noticed my missing phone! I was starving after 48 hours of transatlantic travel and sight seeing and that plate of beautiful golden fried haddock spoke to me on a visceral level. The fish was fresh and flakey with just enough batter to let you know it was there. Peas and chips didn't go.to waste either. I paired it with a pint of Camden Hells lager and let's just say I went to bed completely happy. Would highly recommend especially if you're staying at the Cathedral Lodge as I was.
