The Old Neptune is a fairly stylish traditional pub on the modest Whitstable seafront that you can spot from about a mile away. When visiting Whitstable (which shouldn't occupy you for more than 2 hours), you should definitely drop by to have a pint or some solid pub grub (including less standard seafood options, of course) and have a sit either in the comely pub itself or in the extensive outside seating area, though the former is definitely more comfortable, The décor is rather pleasing indeed; the relics of the village's fishing history add to the atmosphere. Note that if you're going to sit outside, you'll have to drink your beer from a plastic cup. The range of lagers and real ales is certainly adequate, prices are average for this rather touristy area. During busy hours it might take you quite a while to be able to order a drink from the bar. The pub itself is in good shape, neat and tidy, the furniture has an appealingly "rustic" charm. Recommended for visitors to Whitstable!

What a great old worldly seaside pub complete with old weathered floorboards that slope towards the sea to allow the water to flow out when storms pound the Northern Kent coastline because the Old Neptune sits on the beach outside the sea wall. Lovely picnic tables outside overlooking the sea where you can sit & soak up the sunshine & drink local Kent ales / lagers or ciders & enjoy some of the freshest fish & chips that come piled high. A definite must-do for any visit to Whitstable.

Brilliant pub & so considerate to their neighbours on Island Wall where I stay. They allow dogs in - on a lead & serve great food & great music. Parking is a problem in summer

Lovely pub on the beach. Excellent food. It can be very crowded and loud, tables are very close to each other.

If you are lucky, and the weather is warm to hot, sitting outside is a bonus.

A perfect place to rest and recount our adventures for the day. There were quite a few diners in, and the space seemed a lot larger once inside, with a bar and several rooms to accommodate small and large parties. We were seated near a party of 10! Service was friendly and leisurely, which we welcomed. Only one staff was taking and distributing orders and he advised of the delay in service. The food was delicious and had we more time in town, would likely have dined in again.

This place is fantastic, easy walk from Dover Castle and just so happens to be Dovers oldest pub. The menu for lunch is small, feels like it's because they want to do things right. The fish and chips- highly recommend. However unless you are starving I recommend you split it with a friend. When we arrived we were immediately greeted, service was excellent. For families like us, they do have high chairs. They will take your order if you sit inside. There's also an outdoor garden however you need to come to the counter to order. Same with drinks. Each room has a lot of history. Take one look around and there's a lot going on. Apparently this location used to be a part of monastery and has evolved over the years now to a great pub. Each dish we enjoyed, the vegetarian linguine was fresh, chips were delicious and the fish was wonderful. If you're cruising in and need a place for a good meal not too far from the port or to Dover Castle- I recommend you swing on in. Highly casual so you can come as is or for special occasion.
